I've also been confused about that too. Wheneevr I log into AOL there are news reports about it, but haven't seen anything anywhere else. Not really sure what's going on with it...but then again politics bore me so I never read the whole article.

Kaori, and Hybrid the government was very close to being shutdown. It happened before in 1995, but what short term. Basically the Democrats, and Republicans couldn't agree on a budget for the next months. They were going to shutdown the government. It is not what you would think, but this is what happens if a shutdown takes place. The government will only spend money on things like the defense budget (these pointless wars in the Middle East) and a few other things. The people who work for the government wouldn't get paid, and programs that help people would cease until the government reopens. It is basically the government operating in a way to save the most money while barley helping the people.

In England, Petrol prices have always been at around £2.82 per Gallon, which given the current exchange rate is about $4.61.
Looks like there's not much difference over here then ._.'

The Media is Liberally controlled. Of course you wouldn't see anything in the "actual" news (Fox, CNN, ABC etc.) The Government wants to keep it under wraps so that there isn't a panic. But then again there already is a panic... but they don't want the public to revolt so there going to keep most everything on the down-low.

Actually, I've been thinking about going back to school so I can make something to solve this problem. Going back to steam engines would be a great idea at this point, but the problem is always the heat source. So I was considering going in for chemistry and eventually create a compound that could maintain a constant temperature somewhere between 130 and 200 degrees Fahrenheit. It could be used as the heating element, and that means people could get free fuel from their gutters!

Electric cars and other stuff.

Well, electric cars still need to be charged, so the question is "how does your electric company make it?" and that only leads to a few options. Wind energy, water turbines, nuclear, coal, and solar. Wind being the cleanest still requires large amount of oil for lubrication. Solar takes up too much space for too little energy.

Water isn't deplete-able in a steam engine because it evaporates then comes back down when it rains, no burning required. A car run on a steam engine would use the same amount of oil for lubrication, but no longer use gasoline. That's really the only reason I like it better that electric cars.

It is easy to not care when you aren't directly affected and being given money for gas. For a lot of people getting by pay check to pay check, the huge jump in gas prices hurts because employers don't - for the majority - give cost of life raises in the United States. Just one of many things that's wrong with our job industry.

Yeah, but during the great depression people talked to their neighbors, knew everyone! And that made surviving a community effort. I don't even know the names of the people who moved in behind me.

Sadly this American generation wouldn't speak to neighbors for help during a crisis. Most people would be focus on themselves than getting their community to help one another.
I'm worried that the problems in Syria might involve us in another war. Might make gas go up even higher.
Paying for gas once I go to college is going to be a pain.

Hello I'm Zaseo, and I'm representing the Gas Is Too Damn High Party. People are working 8 hours a day 40 hours some a third job. People can't afford to go places with family. My main job is to provide affordable gas so that you're have extra money left in your pocket. This is politics as usually playing the silly game. It shall not happen. The Gas Is Too High Party is here to represent people who can't afford gas. They can't afford to fill up their tank. Look someone's engine is on empty can you see it? You got to look at the gas gauge like me. Lets talk about the issue because the gas is too damn high!
