He then looked at his Twin Blades,"It's not like I have any right to comment on something like that, however..." He then walked towards the door,"As far as I can remember, the only 'one way path' was on the first floor of the dungeon. on B2F it's like a maze, then on B3F there's a Gott Statue, a few small rooms with treasure chests, and a double portal room." He unsheathed Huginn

"Whatever. It's not like you'd get us in trouble Hacking, since it records back to you as the source. Unless that source coding is changed, it won't bother us," Eria said, smiling care-freely. "At least, that's what I've been told. Unless, of course, the Hacks are found on your person. Then you might go down too regardless." She shrugged. "But I digress, so it's a dungeon like that..." Eria commended as they walked. Though they were rare, nearly empty, maze-like dungeons weren't impossible. It also meant that the few enemies contain within were 'Gatekeepers' of sorts and would be of slightly higher level then the field. Fortunately, That meant little to the three of them considering the level gap between them and this Area. "So do you think it might be something like appearing for a time upon first entry or before a Fairy orb is used to reveal the maze, maybe?" she asked, smiling bemusedly.

Odin laughed nervously as they descended the steps to B2F,"The last time I came here I didn't bring a fairy's orb, so I just ran straight through the maze without turning any corners." He looked straight ahead,"Which was-funnily enough-the quickest route to the Gott Statue..." He then placed a hand under his chin,"But we aren't trying to do that..." He took out a Fairy's Orb, then used it, expecting results. However, after a few seconds had passed, an Error message popped up;

Somewhat hoping for this to happen, Odin nodded, muttered something to himself, then turned back to face Eria and Seige,"I'm going to try something out, so I'd like you to follow my lead, if that's okay with you, that is." He then sheathed his twin blades,"However, in order to do this, we'll need to be incredibly observant. If you notice anything different about a wall, or a piece of the floor, or anything else in relation to what else is in any of the rooms ahead, don't hesitate to say so." Odin then walked into the first room of the maze.[/color]

Eria nodded her agreement to Odin's plan, still with a smile on her face. "I have no problems with that, Odin. Especially as it's not often that a Fairy's orb is unable to ID an area's floor," Eria replied to him as she looked around the room. It was relatively normal so far. No Data streams floating around, no visible damages to the graphics or more of those static bursts. That last one she was especially happy about. The previous, a hopefully last one, was unpleasant enough to last her some time.

Positive that everyone was prepared to move on, Odin walked into the first room. It was a small, squared off room with a doorway on each wall. One led back the way he came, the others led East, West and North. Due to the room's small size, picking out hints would be an easy task... or so he had assumed. After scrutinizing every detail of the room from corner to corner, he found no clues hinting towards anything. Scratching his head in a puzzled fashion, he turned to face Eria,"I can't seem to find anything of notability... maybe it really is a chance event? Or is it more to do with the fact that the path resets itself everytime someone gates into the area?" He looked around the room again, the turned to face the West door. All of a sudden, a tingling sensation ran up his spine, and he turned to face the opposite direction. Yet again he was feeling the strange sense of hesitation and forboding. He then looked more thoroughly at the doorway, noticing something just above it,"No. It couldn't be." Etched into the stone in such a way that it was almost impossible to read were the words,"White Room". Wondering if anyone had been here beforehand and altered the area themselves, he took a mental note of the sign above the door. On second thought, he didn't really care who wrote it. It was a clue, and that was all that he needed. he turned to face Eria and Seige again,"Hey, I think I know how to deduce which route we have to take."

"Huh...?" Eria looked at the two doorways as Odin scrutinized them. Unfortunately, she wasn't at a good angle to read or even notice the words that Odin had seen. On the other hand, they had a way forward and after a few doors, she was sure she'd be able to tell. So with that, she nodded at his statement with an unworried smile. "Great. Please, lead on," she replied to him.

(So I meant to post again yesterday...and earlier today, but I got sidetracked by, ironically enough, playing through .hack//INFECTION again. I recently bought the Another Birth novels so I've been reading them at the same pace as I am playing the game, since I never finished the series in the first place. I kind of got a bit distracted by it. ^_^;

Hold up on posting for a bit though. I am writing up a rather lengthy post to introduce a new character. After Gamerkale's post where he confronted Avantha, I realized that I did have her reveal too much willingly, and that kind of destroyed some of her personality. So to have her has secluded as I want her to be as well as reveal the important information, I'm going to add a new character that will act as sort of a bridge between her and the rest of the group. Because the end of the post has something specific happen with the so-called hidden room, I'd prefer for people who are already at the field to hold up for a bit so or posts don't get conflicted. If you aren't in the field yet with the secret room, feel free to do what you want.)

"Ugh! People these days." Gibken ran after the PC, but not before turning around to see the Dungeon pixelating and flashing in weird colors. "What the hell? What's up with this dungeon?!"

Gibken chased after the PC into the field. Finally he would be able to complete the unwanted task. He looked out and tried to find the PC, he found her right outside the stairs.
Wait.....it's a chick??!!!

Gibken raised his hand out to try and talk to the person. "Hey! Stop! Some Blademaster told me to find you and give this to you!"

History: Kali is a rather free-spirited person. She often doesn't care much of what others think of her, which is why she used her real name for her character and why she never attempts to hide how she plays the game. She is a very artistic person, and always tries to be optimistic and understanding in a situation, because she knows what it's like to feel alone.

Kali let out a relaxed sigh as her character appeared next to the Chaos Gate of Mac Anu. Night had already fallen and some players were heading off to bed, but she wasn't in any way tired. Well, maybe she was tired, but she still wouldn't miss the opportunity to relax and be free in The World. She strolled down the roads, looking at nothing and everything as her head spun on her neck without focus or concern. It wasn't uncommon to see her doing this, and sometimes it was all she did when logging on for the day. Just going around and experiencing many of the exotic locations with her Virtual Box was one of the things she enjoyed most about the game--she could travel all around the world, feel the wind on her face and the ground beneath her feet, without ever leaving her room. Kali stopped and closed her eyes, listening to the many sounds of the players conversing, the water drifting through the canals, and even the slight breeze blowing by her face. She was always amazed at how intricate and lifelike CC Corp had been able to make The World with the use of the Virtual Box--they may be greedy executives, but they sure cared about their product.

But as Kali stood still trying to pick out each sound of the town, one sound in particular reached her ears and caught her attention. The sound was faint, but she recognized it for what it was at once, for it was something she had heard far too often--it was crying. She opened her eyes and gazed around the streets, but nothing appeared to be out of the ordinary. People traded, conversed, and formed parties, and everyone seemed oblivious to the slight sound she heard being carried along the wind. She knew she should have shrugged off the noise as just another element to the already deeply developed game, but somehow she could not let it go--whenever she heard even the slightest hint of a sad tone in a voice, she couldn't help but to find the source and lend a sympathetic hand. And that was something she was eager to do here, even inside a game.

It was lucky for Kali that it did not take long to find the source. After pacing up and down streets and peeking through doors, she came across an almost hidden alleyway behind a small merchant. Sitting at the end of the alleyway against the wall, trying her best to be quiet and disappear into the shadows, was a Twin Blade named Avantha. Most people would have left at the sight, wishing to depart before the person looked up and forget that such an event had ever happened, but Kali just couldn't leave someone in any type of misery, even if it was just a paper-cut.

"Hey there," she said in a soft voice as she walked down the alley. "Is everything okay?"

Avantha jumped at once to the sound of the voice, and Kali could see the girl's hands drift towards her weapons. "Go away," said Avantha, her voice hostile at once.

"If you're sad, maybe I can help," said Kali.

"I said go away," demanded Avantha, and her hand wrapped around one of her daggers.

"Oh come on," said Kali, returning with a wide innocent smile. "I'm great at cheering people up. You can talk to me."

"Just leave me alone!" yelled Avantha, and before Kali knew what was happening she was being faced with two giant flashing words: Game Over.

The player of the same name almost cursed at the sudden PK, but she forced herself to be calm and understanding. There was a time when she might have done the same thing. When Kali logged back in she went straight for the alleyway, serving the glutton for punishment deep inside her, but by the time she got there the girl had already left. She was disappointed, but tried her best not to dwell on the event and let her guilt for not cheering up the girl overwhelm her. She went back to the Chaos Gate and chose three random words; it was something she often did, not because she wanted a challenge but because she just wanted to experience the atmosphere of a new area. The area that came up was called Δ Quiet Eternal Nothingness. It was a low level area and she would be able to kill most of the monsters in one hit, but she didn't care. Its name had a mysterious tinge to it, and that made her all the more curious to see what it looked like.

Kali was surprised to be surrounded by a thick forested area. She had been in woodlands before in this game, but none quite as a thick as this--it was surprising when she could move twenty feet without running into a tree. She closed her eyes and listened, trying to soak up the atmosphere of the place, but was interrupted by the light sounds of footsteps. She looked around at once and was surprised yet again--through some of the trees, heading into the cave that served as the dungeon, was the player from the alleyway. Kali tried to call out to Avantha, but the girl had already disappeared into the dungeon. She hesitated for a moment, not sure whether to follow as the memory of their last encounter rang in her head. But in the end she couldn't disobey her instincts and ran into the dungeon.

It was hard keeping pace with Avantha through the maze of tunnels and rooms, and several times Kali had thought she had lost the girl. She thought she could hear others talking in the rooms nearby, but she was too focused on catching the Twin Blade to investigate anyone else. She tried asking Avantha to stop several times, But every time she opened her mouth the Twin Blade had disappeared through the next doorway. It wasn't until they reached a dead end that Kali was able to stand in a room with the girl for more than a few seconds. Avantha looked back as Kali called out again, but she only increased her pace at the sight of the intruder. She ran straight towards the wall at the end of the room, and before Kali could say anything the entire wall disappeared. Kali was blinded by a white light and covered her eyes. The light faded after a few seconds, and when she looked up again she saw the wall forming back into the hole, and Avantha disappearing behind it.

"Hey!" Kali yelled, running up to the wall. She pounded on the hard surface, but it did not disappear for her like it had for the Twin Blade. "Hey, open up! What did you do? What's going on?"

"Blademaster?" James asked as D-=Scythe turned to look back at the dungeon, the entrance pixelated, turned several different colors, seemed to settle on simply being a black lump and then became a normal entrance again. The effect did not affect the rest of the field. Wonder if they already got the field or if they simply let it be. Either way, glad I wasn't caught in it. He deactivated the recording device and saved the file, after careful deliberation and since he still wasn't sure what he had gotten himself into, Avantha 001. "I'm afraid you're going to be a little more specific, I know several blademasters. Did he say what it was for?" D-=Scythe clapped her hands together excitedly. "Oh wait, I bet it was the pool for his kid's time of birth. Did he give you the child's name?" Now that she was out of immediate danger, James typed up a message.

Hey guys and gals, I'm looking for a couple of things. One is a female character named Avantha. Just tell me if you see her, she's not exactly the sociable type so you might not want to approach her unless you enjoy having a pair of swords run through you. We parted on less than good terms by the way, so no name dropping if you can't help yourself. The second is anything anybody knows about a guy called Velanth. I don't know if that's his real name, character name, or even if it's just a nickname, but I think he did something to Avantha in the past. If anyone can actually figure out a way for me to meet him or how he's related to her, there's a golden grunty in it for them.

Odin suddenly stopped moving through the rooms, hearing footsteps behind him, then suddenly all around him, as if they were almost spiritual in nature. Quickly realizing that this was due to the echoes produce by the dungeon, he began to follow the guided rout even closer. Eventually, he came across the steps, but there was something different about them. A strange, purple haze was gushing out from the floor in front of where the steps were, and and the steps seemed to have been replaced by a door, specifically one which headed straight on. Looking at Eria and Seige, he nodded,"It looks like we've triggered the 'key' that unlocks the White Room. Let's keep moving." He then ran towards the door, which led him into another narrow room, at the end of which a wavemaster was standing. They seemed to be banging on the wall, and calling out to something. Odin was disconcerted by this factor, and so chose to approach the wavemaster. He tapped her on the shoulder,"Excuse me, miss, but what exactly are you doing here?" He then looked at the wall, feeling positive that he knew what was beyond it, however, he had to check something for good measure,"And why were you banging on the wall?"

Gibken ran his hand through his hair. "Hold up. Let me check the logs, I know that he has a Golden Grunty for you."

Gibken scrolled through the logs to find his past conversation. He clicked out of the logs and opened up Deathscythe's Character Menu.

Gibken put one hand out in the air and yelled, "Alright! Finished! Here, I'll just copy the log for you and submit it as a Flash Mail to ya." He clicked on Flash Mail and copied the logs directly onto the Message Box.

Gibken: Hey you guys alright?
Blademaster (Privacy Settings block you from viewing his name): "Yeah, thanks, if you hadn't been here we would definitely of all died."
Gibken: Well that's good to know, so why are you guys here?
Blademaster: "A friend of ours, Deathscythe, said on the boards that he was going to be checking this place out when he had time. And since he's on right now we thought we'd go see if he needed a hand. Given what's happened, it seems we need to go do some leveling so we're going to head back and go clear a dungeon in Dun Loireag. Oh, but before we go, if you run into Deathscythe could you give him this Golden Grunty for me? Oh and let him know he won the pool and the kid's name is Michael. Next time I see you, I'll be sure to pay you back for saving us." 
Gibken: Wait!......oh come on! That was just nice.

"So as you can see, I was tasked with the unruly task of finding you and delivering you this Golden Grunty."

"Thanks!" D-=Scythe hugged Gibken. "That was really nice of you to actually deliver it, a lot of people would have just ignored him, and a promise of payment isn't that good. Tell you what." Gibken received D-=Scythe's member address. "If you need some help with anything give me a ring." While he was thinking about it James switched D-=Scythe's equipment back to what she had before deciding to murder Avantha. "Anyways, as you know I'm called Deathscythe. And I'm headed next to Delta: Quiet Eternal Nothingness to continue my investigation. Well, I need to log out for a couple of minutes once I've gotten to Mac Anu, but after that. Anyways, sorry I don't really have the time to continue chatting right now. The admins might be going there and doing to that place what they did here, and that will get rid of what little evidence there may be. Thanks for being the bearer of such great news, GIbken." D-=Scythe hugged him again, warped back to Mac Anu, saved, and logged out.

"Hmm?" he saw the girl, then looked at Odin "Never seen her before.... It looks familiar though..." he walked to the girl "Are you lost?, what's your name?" He crossed his arms

Gibken blushed and murmured out, "Thanks, haha, so what's with this area and-". Once more, the every annoyed PC was cut off from his finish line.

He sighed and warped back to town. "So that makes two girl Member Addresses in one day. One ancy and one cutie. Well, I guess I better get some sleep then."
GIbken saved his progress and logged out.

Riki turned off his console and went to bed. "Heh, why does it seem like I'm always the last to do something in The World?"

Kali jumped at the sound of the voices behind her and began to cast a spell, but stopped when she saw that the new presence was of players and not monsters.

"Sorry," she said as she relaxed. "I get distracted way too easy. It's just that--"

She stopped mid sentence when a mail reached her from a player named D-=Scythe--a mail with a very familiar name in its bulk.

Hey D-=Scythe, it's Kali. You know, I'm that girl you found wandering through a high level field a few weeks back. Funny enough, I was chasing a girl named Avantha in [b]Δ Quiet Eternal Nothingness[/b] but...well...something happened...it's best if you just came on down here. It's a bit complicated to explain in a mail. And hurry up--I'm not sure how long she's going to stay here.

Kali turned back to the game, and almost jumped again when she realized she had forgotten she was not alone. "Sorry, I can be a bit spacey," she said with a faint smile. "Well, have you heard of this girl named Avantha? I found her...doing some stuff earlier in Mac Anu and when I saw here again I decided to follow her but...well...she kind of disappeared through this wall here. I'm not sure how to explain it."

(This is the post I am making for Shiori's character. I'm putting it separate to point out that it's a different character. I'll try to keep it short since I don't wan tto mess too much with what she wants her character to be.)

Toshiro cursed under his breath as he logged back into the root town of Mac Anu. If he hadn't been abandoned by his two party members and left alone to fight the boss, then he might have found at least one clue as to who had messed with that part of the dungeon. And he knew from experience that one clue would lead to another, which would eventually give him the answer he seeks. But he had been cheated out of it and had to watch all his efforts ruined. Then, all of a sudden, he received a mail from non other than D-=Scythe, the person who had left him alone to fight the rock golem. Toshiro thought about deleting the mail, but his curiosity got the better of him.
