He jumped to his feet, but caught too much momentum, and flipped back onto his back. Thi day was an odd one, but he neve expected to recieve the kiss of death from a vampire. He tried once again,this time slower.

Jaenelle was dozing lightly when the Grand Lament began, startling her awake. She wasn't quite sure how long she'd been asleep for, but the nap made her feel less tired and the adrenaline rush from her startlement had her wide awake now. "What is that...?" she asked as she walked out of her room into her mother's chamber. The reply she got from her mother shocked her. "A lament for the city? Is the entire city dead...?" the Dragon-girl asked as she and her mother listened on from their den, the earth barely dulling the sound. "But... we can't leave yet. Your wounds aren't healed enough yet. We live on the barest outskirts, most don't consider this even a part of the city. We should be good here... Right...?" Neither one knew. All they could do is wait and see as Jaenelle left to sit out on the roof of the shack that hid the entrance to their den to watch and listen.

The city was good and dead and Xander was no longer compelled by his blood to sing so he stopped. He listened to the songs of the other shee as he wandered away from the city. Unbeknown to Xander, his path would take him near the dragon's den. And although he had finished singing the lament continued, carrying the news across all of Xvallia. He felt that he and his kin would have much singing to do in the near future.

Below the Half-Banshee, the ground subtly shook as if in pain, a reflection of the Grand Dragon's movements below. The animals nearby paused every so ofter as if in fear of the engine of destruction below that moved the earth with her breathing alone. But that wasn't all the Grand Dragon beneath gave off. A subtle aura of death radiated up through the ground as well, not strong enough to be immediate or close, but death nonetheless.

Meanwhile, Jaenelle sat up as she continued the listen. "The Lament... lessened... Was the Banshee here finished?" Jaenelle said to herself as the flames in the city began dying down as they ran out of fuel. Dark cloud settled over the ruined city as she sighed. The sound of someone approaching put her on guard as she jumped down to face toward Xander. "Who's there?!"

Xander had knelt down to feel the ground. There was death here, but it was weak as if being staved off or perhaps it was something extremely powerful and very old that was nearing the end of it's life which was still a very long time by comparison. He did not stand immediately upon Jaenelle's appearance. The aura of death was "on" her, but it was more of a scent like she had walked through smoke. The daughter of a dying dragon?

Xander rose and bowed his greetings to Jaenelle, "I am Xander from the fairy court of Airlie. I am Shee-son. Do not worry, I am not yet here for you. May I ask your name?"

Jaenelle was taken aback by his words at first. "Jaenelle. Jaenelle Malystrx," she answered cautiously as her mind began putting two and two together. She stepped back from him. "Wait... You... You're the banshee that was singing earlier, aren't you?" she asked as her sharp hearing picked up her mother's thunderous heartbeat going steadily on. "Are you passing through?"

Xander inclined his head slightly. "I am the one who started the lament, yes. I am not yet drawn here for your loved ones if that is what you mean. Frankly, I am not drawn anywhere at the moment. If you would grant me something to drink and perhaps eat as well I will grant you a small boon."

Oh, thank goodness... The relief she felt at hearing that was strong enough to make her a bit giddy, making it a bit hard to not laugh. She did, however, smile warmly to him. "Yes, of course. We still have something inside. Please, follow me," she replied to him as she turned to open the door. She paused and looked back at him. "And... it seems Mother wants to see you as well, Xander. I hope you don't mind talking with her for a bit."

He returned her smile. "Of course. It's rare for others to start a conversation with me. Lead on." He looked around as they made their way to Mother's den. "Just the two of you then? No siblings?"

Jaenelle nodded. "Yeah. I have two half-sisters, but one isn't comfortable around Mother and the other, though she doesn't hate me, doesn't care for me too much either, seeing as I'm only Half-Dragon," Jaenelle replied as they entered the main chamber where the enormous form of Malystrx lay, her eyes closed. The Grand Dragon's jaw was the size of Xander, her scales big enough to cover a person's chest and stomach. She opened an eye bigger then Xander's head as Jaenelle nodded. "Okay Mother. I'll be back in a bit with something to eat and drink," the Dragon-girl said to him as she walked off into another room.

Shee-son... Thank you for coming... came Malystrx's mental voice into his mind. The death in the chamber came from the person-length wounds down the Grand Dragon's side. I have a request of you, if you are willing to undertake it...

"The fey rarely do favors freely, you must know this." He glanced back in the direction Jaenelle had walked. "But I told her I was not drawn here for you, which was not a lie, but that does not mean you will not die in my presence." He returned to look at Malystrx and let his glamours all fade away standing before her as himself, not the human guise he wore, one as old as Malystrx warranted that much respect. He intended to put the disguise back up if Jaenelle returned. "And I am not devoid of generosity. Ask and I shall consider your request."

Malystrx snorted as the ground rumbled slightly, a deep, throaty chuckle being the cause. I know, Shee-son. I have dealt with the Fey many times and understand; if it is in my power, I have little qualms about doing it, she mentally replied back with another earth-shaking chuckle. However, my request is simple for you and in all likelihood, you would have done most of it yourself anyway, as is your nature, Shee-son. My beloved Daughter returns with your food and drink, Shee-son, the Grand Dragon continued as Jaenelle's footsteps began to echo louder.

Malystrx's laughing caused Xander to smirk. "I merely wished it out in the open, people sometimes forget and are angered when payment is asked of them. So she is." He commented and his glamours reasserted themselves perfectly, he glanced around the room. It was rather sparse as far as furniture went so he created an ornate table seemingly made of blue glass the insides of which seemed to swirl around, he also made two stools of glass with twinkling stars trapped within and being impossibly supported by a single shaft seemingly made of diamonds standing point to point. It's not necessarily that he was going for crazy or beautiful it's just what comes naturally for fey. Xander stood half turned towards the doorway.

A moment or two later, Jaenelle entered holding a plate with a hunk of meat on it that was slightly charred, but otherwise appeared cooked. She hand a large glass of water in the other hand. She paused in minor surprise at seeing the table and stools, but seemed get over it soon enough as she set the plate and glass on the table and produced a fork and knife for him. "I don't cook very often, so I apologize if its burnt or undercooked," Jaenelle said before flying up to check her mother's wounds.

Like I said, I understand, Shee-son. Though you likely noticed, I am dying. I might only have a decade or so left, barely a day or two to Dragon-kind. My request to you is simple. I wish for you to be the one to sing for my Daughters, Jaenelle and her full Dragon sister, Surreal, when I die, Malystrx mindspoke to him as she looked to Jaenelle, whom carefully cleaned and took care of her mother's wounds. Please, do not tell Jaenelle of this yet. She worries so much for me and though she likely knows, she steadfastly refuses to admit it, keeping hope that I'll recover. Surreal should be somewhere close by on that day as well, so I should not be hard to sing for both. Will you do this for me, Shee-son?

He inclined his head. That is as much a request as it is an honor. The scale is balanced and the bargain is struck. I shall speak with my mother when I am next near the waters and reserve the right and obligation. Xander left Jaenelle to her mother for the time being and sat upon a stool. Despite appearances it was more akin to a cushion than a piece of glass. He tasted the meat and it was indead somewhat burnt, but it was more than good enough for one who had not yet eaten that day. "It suits my palette. Did you prepare it with your breath?" He inquired as he began cutting up the rest of the meat.
