Stfu, a flaming pig is awesome. I like all the starters in BW pretty much. I think Mijumaru's seashell is in a dumb place, but if you watch the anime you will quickly realize he is the best character. End of conversation.
And for a lot of the original Pokemon, I thought "okay this one is out of place" as I encountered them. Wtf is a bull doing in this game? Accepting them is a matter of getting used to them, and having an entirely new roster is a good way to put them all on equal footing, where there aren't any returning Pokemon that scream "I'm normal! Everything else is weird!" to your brain.
