Re: Video Games?+Girlfriends?=NO!!!
I was joking-ish with my post, and I agree with some of what you said, however.
As for long happy relationships, I wouldn't know TOO much on the subject, because my longest relationship was only 4-5 years (I say 4 because we had a 6month-year break in total)...which is long for most around my age now, let alone then, however its no 20+ like my parents and older friends either.
In short, girls want jerks...so I argue your statement. I think though, maybe our (or just most people vs myself) have a different meaning behind the word. Jerk to me isn't THAT bad of a title, if anything I use it in the same girlish ways several girls have teased me about it...which is frankly the only way I have any knowledge of the word because I've never once had a conversation with a guy friend where hes said "wow...hes a jerk". Its if anything, used with stronger words lol.
I very much disagree, well kind of. Its true girls like confident men, however I believe girls want jerks as well...just not to them. I've found relationship generally (in younger years anyway) is a tug of war, cat and mouse game (sure theres a better expression for that, english isnt my first) where the girl basicly wants someone who is a complete jerk to everyone else, but her. BUT you cant just be nice to her right off the bat, oh no...you got to warm up to it. It soon becomes a game where you have to put in the right amount of giving in and taking...generally being "bad" and then showing nice moments...and becomes crazy. I'm not stating this is whats needed to make a relationship work, however taking a look at all my relationships and I'll admit, I used more then a few girls to experement what works and what doesnt (I'm a psych major, and when I was younger I took it just a tad to far lol...and got a lil too into socail experments)...and I have to say, that is the easiest way to a girls heart and maintaining it for a decent while. It's not that girls like jerks, it's that they like confident, self-assured men.

@Graves, I'll have to counter your disagreement. Relationships in younger years, on most occasions, are experiments more so than a game of some sort. Love is an extremely difficult emotion to control and understand as a whole, and the consequences are even more severe to a certain degree, yet as a human who wishes to die with his soulmate and NOT as a virgin, I contiuously stride towards the lamented path know as love.

@Graves- From my own experience, I can say that women do not like jerks. Women like men who will chase after them, and not look at anyone else. If you were a complete jerk, and your GF found out that you'd been cheating on her with another women, she'd dump you within a heartbeat, simply because despite your confidence, you looked at other women, which she could not possibly accept.
Continuing on; frankly speaking, all women are attention leeches in some form or another, it's just that a few are more or less so than the rest. As for what women see as attractive, being 'bad' usually denotes some form of self-confidence, and in my experience, a man who is confident - and willing to actually pay attention to his girlfriend - will always gain the ladies' attention, especially if he focuses only on that woman, and - seemingly - nothing else.
tl;dr ~ Women like men with confidence, that will only look at them.. NOT jerks.

Should I make a thread about what girls REALLY want?
I think we're getting way too off-topic on this thread.

Everyone is different and everyone wants different things.
it isn't based solely on gender.
You have what someone wants or you don't.

Re: Video Games?+Girlfriends?=NO!!!
Think of music then alot of people like different kinds of music but the majority like mainstream music, so there is such thing as the "mainstream" type of guy that girls like...I can't think of another way to explain it, is that undertandable or do you disagree?

Re: Video Games?+Girlfriends?=NO!!!
Sounds exactly like me LOLpeople try to be nice to girls, they almost inevitably worry about whether they're making a proper impression, or if the girl will like them, or if they're doing something wrong. They get too self-consciencious, and they seem either desperate or unsure of themselves, and if they can't be sure of their own success
That too LOLJust run up to them, be kind, flash a smile, and move on.

I'm sorry but when does being a jerk= cheating? Cheater=cheating, thats two completely seperate things.@Graves- From my own experience, I can say that women do not like jerks. Re: Video Games?+Girlfriends?=NO!!!
The word "Jerk" has various definitions and it can apply to people who cheat
"That guy cheated on her!"
"Yeah he's a total jerk!"

Mirus explained my argument a few posts back, so I don't have to...Graves wrote:I'm sorry but when does being a jerk= cheating? Re: Video Games?+Girlfriends?=NO!!!
I'd say, this one post completely summarizes a topic about what girls really want. Sure, there could be alot more things, and alot more details...but they're just derivated from this and the kind of girls they are, along with unique "desires" each individual girl would have that makes them different from anyone else. So, yeah, make the topic if you wish, it could be interesting enough...but, this one post has already replied the answer to that topic, even before it was questioned.AuraTwilight wrote:It's not that girls like jerks, it's that they like confident, self-assured men. Aloof assholes have the appearance of being confident because they don't seem like anything gets to them; that not only makes them attractive, but it also makes them seem like a challenge. Yea, while it can get you women, it's not the best strategy, because relationships built on what is essentially just sex appeal don't last, and eventually word is going to get around that you're a total ass, and they'll wise up.
The low success rate of "nice guys" stems from the fact that when people try to be nice to girls, they almost inevitably worry about whether they're making a proper impression, or if the girl will like them, or if they're doing something wrong. They get too self-consciencious, and they seem either desperate or unsure of themselves, and if they can't be sure of their own success, why will the girl give him a chance?
However, being a "nice guy" is good for relationships, because emotional reciprocation, communication, and empathy form lasting bonds. Not only will the relationship work better, but even if you fall out, your reputation won't really suffer for it, and it'll be easier for the girl to accept you just don't click and will be willing to stay friends with you, and possibly even be willing to help connect you to friends of hers.
The ultimate, ideal, strategy is to be confident and nice. Be nice to people without stopping to think of how they'll react. Just run up to them, be kind, flash a smile, and move on.
And also, the words of that post have been engraved into my mind and will be fully remembered and hopefully applied for as long as my mind works. And perhaps for some time even after that.
There is no use moving back, you can't trace back your path

Re: Video Games?+Girlfriends?=NO!!!
I of course, include myself completely in this when I make this joke but...
lol...anyone else chuckle to themselves (specially those who were not involved in this side convo) that a bunch of users from an anime forum are debating/discussing over what girls really want?
Again, so no one feels offended, I added myself into that, and I'm not suggesting anyone who was in this side convo hits the sterotype...but I believe we all know what it is.
