I agree with both the guy and the girls, the girls didn't really have to destroy the guys 360 and PS3 to get the guys' attentions but the guys shouldn't have been epic douche-bags and ignore their girlfriends. Like the guy said, there are a whole bunch of different ways the situations could've gone down.Breaking the consoles.......yea even though it they were funny and the guys deserved it....they really shouldn't have done that.

I could say many things on this subject, but i'll be as short as i can...even though i'd like to defend the gamers, being one myself and of the kind that plays videogames for seriously-insane amounts of time, i have to say that those are to be blamed and it's their fault that their girlfriends finally snapped and destroyed their favorite consoles. I'm almost sure that this situation wasn't because suddenly one night the boyfriend was playing his favorite game for a short time and the girlfriend snapped because the guy didn't let her watch her favorite show, instead the guy was probably spending whole days playing Halo or Call or Duty, yelling out at the game all the time, and only paying attention to his girlfriend whenever he wanted beer, or sex...and of course, the girl knowing that simply leaving the guy wouldn't change a thing and he wouldn't even care, decided to do something against him that he'd definetly care for.

For this, i have to say that if you're a gamer of that kind, or at least one that tends to play for a long time and so very often, usually ignoring everyone around you, then you should either get a girlfriend that understands you and accepts you playing and ignoring her for a few days, or a couple of hours per day...or just don't get a girlfriend at all, enjoy your gaming as much as you wish on your own, go out with girls you're close with whenever you feel the need to, and avoid losing both your relationship and your console. Of course, you could be smarter and just balance out the situation, by slowing your gaming and giving more attention to your girlfriend like you should (and you'll still have some time for keeping up your online rank), or...even smarter, don't bring your girlfriend at home while you'll spend all the time playing -3- Girls want attention way more than guys, but even if you're one of those bastard gamers that play online all day just to yell at the mic, as long as you understand that you have a girlfriend and you should be nice with her and don't ignore her when she needs you, and don't treat her like a freaking cumdumpster who belongs to the kitchen, she should be able to understand your gaming and even treat you nicely while you're doing your gaming.

I have to take the gamers' side here. In both cases (obviously), the women videotaped themselves breaking their boyfriends' machines. I can understand taking drastic measures like this, but to actually upload the footage to YouTube shows that they're proud of what they did, like it's some laudable accomplishment to be able to ruin someone else's property. And for the first girl to actually be mad at her boyfriend for retaliating, it's evident that she didn't think about the repercussions before breaking his Xbox. No, ignoring your S.O. is awful, but if I were these guys, I'd look for someone who has a bit more sense, and of course someone who is more tolerant of antisocial gamer behavior (ideally, a fellow gamer).

Hey /b/, I have a very serious problem. I'm f*cking crying because of how stupid I am.

Okay, so my girlfriend was supposed to come over to my house today because I was going to go take her to a movie. She lives about 20 minutes away, and the movie we were supposed to see started at 4:15, which was in about 40 minutes. I figured "cool, I'll just play Pokemon while I wait".

So I'm playing Pokemon, and having a pretty damn good time. Anyway, she finally does show up, except she's crying as she walks into my room. Instead of doing the right thing by comforting her, I half-focus on my game and her. She starts telling me her cat died, and just as she was getting into it, I get into a random encounter in my game.

A shiny pidgey. Holy ****. (For those of you who don't know/care, shiny Pokemon have less than a 1/1,000 chance of appearing; 1/8192 to be exact.). I stare into my screen in amazement, yelling "holy sh*t, YES", interrupting her mid-story. She sobs more, and she starts to yell "You don't even f*cking care! YOU JUST WANT TO PLAY YOUR F*CKING GAME!" I'm still looking at my screen, still focusing on catching my shiny Pidgey, when she walks over, and tosses the game against the wall. I run over and pick up my DS hoping that nothing has changed on screen, and quickly noticed that she broke it. My system and my shiny Pidgey, gone forever.

I start screaming every obscenity I know, and started flailing my arms around. I didn't know she was behind me, and apparently I backhanded her in the face while I was being a dumbass and swinging my fists around. She yells out "F*CK YOU", and runs out of my house in tears.

What have I done? I've f*cked up so badly, and I need to know how to approach her. I don't want a game of Pokemon to be responsible for ruining my best relationship ever. Help me, /b/.

Well thats perfectly understandable only b/c its a completely different situation from the girls in the 2 video games. But still there are some other "better" ways to handle the situations. Mainly dun destroy the consoles, just try to get their attention in another way.

Of course the guys were being total dumbasses, but its not really a good reason to destroy those consoles.


Side-Note: It seems to me that both sides of the conflicts are being supported by the genders. Guys on the guys side and girls on the girls side.

IMO The girls were selfish ****. Why? here's why;

1. They feel like THEY have to dominate those guys' lives, and eliminate all other competition - inanimate objects included - NO girl I know would EVER go that far unless the guy in question blamed them for his faults in-game.
2. As Mwm stated, they had the nerve to record said videos and upload them... onto frikking Youtube. This only makes them look even more bitchy. They brought their punishment upon themselves, through their own sheer lack of common sense, and obviously didn't realize that if you break something of someone else's, they'll usually break something of yours, be it inanimate or part of your body.
3. The fact that they didn't even bother to think about how it would affect their own boyfriends totally demonstrates that they seek TOO much attention. plus, they blatantly have short tempers, and only like things that go their way. In my book, that adds up to bitchiness.


As for the guys, they could've at least realized this before hand, and maybe paid a little bit more attention to their girlfriends... though I doubt it would've stopped the girls from raging about something else they didn't like. I think those guys should find some girl-gamers and hook up with them, then dump their over-demanding, console-smashing current ones.

N.B. Also, don't play video-games when your girlfriend is in the house. You'll stand a better chance of not losing your console.

Anyway I've been through this before except I didnt destroy anything(What I did could be considered worse? Depends on the kind of person you are).
I simply feel sorry for these guys and their girlfriends ...not sure which I feel more sorry for.

Also just because a girl is a "gamer" that does not mean she wont want your attention and time away from videogames to be together... Guys and girls are different keep that in mind.

Best advices indeed. Sure, those girls are selfish indeed...they'd snap at the first second their boyfriends seems to "ignore" them, and would destroy their stuff and act violent with them without caring about how their boyfriend would feel, how much money that costed, or anything (but of course, you destroy something she has...and there's no escape for her bitchy rant about how you "don't understand her" -3-). Of course, a girlfriend would expect to get attention from her boyfriend, yes, but these girls just took it too far....and the guys took it too far too, not understand her girlfriend was that kind of girl, and just using her as "that one **** who needs to buy me more beer".

I repeat what i've said before...if you're a gamer guy, you should either look for a gamer girl, or at least one that understands you spending lots of hours gaming...or simply sacrifice some of your time to be with your girlfriend. After all, eventually you'll find out if that's the girl you'd like to be with or simply one you shared happiness with for a while...hopefully, you'll find that out while your console is still alive.

Oh, i should add too. Those girls should think twice too before dating a guy like that. I think that those girls are of the kind who expect a guy all "macho", taking them to parties all the time, perhaps with the guy doing lots of sports, and overall being outside and giving them all the attention instead to a videogame. And if the girl still expects a guy like that, and it's not willing to tolerate the ways the guy lives on, and the guy doesn't feel like changing either...then a breaking up will be faster, easier, and cheaper than breaking up a console.

I know that these guys like video games, but honestly, there are points where they need to be put down.

An easy way to make sure it doesn't feel like you HAVE to play a game is to avoid time sensitive ones. MMO's (guilds and raids), pokemon, games with built in clocks that effect gameplay, etc. Because if you're playing a fighting game, or Monster Hunter, or something like Modern Warfare 2, you can just turn it off right on front of the girl, and that's a HUGE boost right there because that makes her realize that she's more important than video games. (this is a great reason to get the PSP, thank you sleep mode)

But then you have to think, how did he get the money to buy the PS3 in the first place? My guess is, he does a lot and she just doesn't pay attention to him because she's too focused on the fact that he's playing video games instead of sexing her up all the time. He probably is the one with the car and has to drive her to work every day, he might even be the one that stays home and does the laundry. There just isn't enough reason to break the guys system, especially since she could've pawned it since she's SO worried about money.
