Re: Prototype
I ended up buying InFAMOUS over this. Is it any good? 'Cuz I was considering getting this after I finished with some of my other games.

Re: Prototype
Personally for me its a rent. a couple of my friends got the game the day it came out and beat that week and they said it is short and worth just a rent. Its funny because they were all so hyped for the game. They weren't disappointed, they just said it gets repetitive, but really...don't all open world games get tiring?Azure Knight wrote:I ended up buying InFAMOUS over this. Is it any good? Re: Prototype
you should know by now all games get repeative after a while, no matter what. Unless they keep adding new stuff to it every so often thats diffrent.
its Definaly a Rent, most games are now a days.

I found inFAMOUS FAR better. The gameplay is easier to pick up, and funner to excecute. It has an amazing open world. If your evil, people run, attack you, and even ram cars at you. If your good, people clap, ask you to stop muggers and help people, take pictures and even "OH MY GOSH! YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHO'S STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO ME!"
Every inch of empire city looks like the real deal (Enhanced with rooftop shelters, makeshift hospitals, constantly bombarded police stations, and news broadcasts) I'd say inFamous is every bit as good, actually, better. I just find it's story, power system, and atmosphere better as a whole.
(Another bonus is the Morality system. The choice driven story is fantastic. Every action you make has two options, and both are totally justified by the protagonist. There is no moment when you go "He's just being sadisticly evil with no reason." It puts you in Coles shoes, and asks YOU what you would do.)

Re: Prototype
I really like the morality choices, too. I think it's a cool edition, and it's not like you'll accidentally do something bad, because it tells you what's going to happen.
What is Empire City supposed to be modeled after? At first, I thought New York, but the harbor area of the Neon District looks too much like Cannery Row in Monterey...

I almost immediatly assumed New york city. (New york IS the Empire state) But I think it's more a combination of different comic book influences.Azure Knight wrote:I really like the morality choices, too. Read DMZ, or the Batman No Mans Land series and you'll see some pretty big influence. Based on the large golden statues of 1950's-esque figures, and other monemunts that lead themselves toward the 50's style, it feels as though they took pieces of Real life cities (The blast site reminds me slightly of ground zero, but that could just be the fact it's a crator type area in an urban city.), comic books, and other astetics. I don't know... maybe it IS based on a real city. I really haven't been to many of the big famous ones. Personally, I found the historic distric very reminesent to areas or Portland OR, as well as parts or the Neon.

Re: Prototype
I thought New York City until I saw the aforementioned harbor, and then I thought it may be a mix of many cities. The fact that the city's seperated into different buroughs on their own islands is a giveaway, too.
Also, I think 'Ground Zero' is a general term for where any destructive event took place. That's what they call it in the game, too

But the fact Zeke, as well as many of the pedestrians have a southern (bordering texan) accent throws me off.
Re: Prototype
Just wanted to note I got 30 hours out of my Prototype play-thru, via in-game Stats. I found infected water towers to be the nicest return of EP for unlocking all my abilities.
The last few missions upped the difficulty and agitation a bit, but still a good game IMO. I also see myself popping the game back in, just to romp in free mode. I feel it was well worth the sticker price.
If you want to go the completionist route, the events will add some more replay to the game, as you can continue playing those post-end game. I did a decent amount of them, but no where near all of them.

Re: Prototype
I got it the day it came out. It was fun for like the first three days. Then I sold it to buy Resident Evil 5. I liked slashing people up into little bits.
I divided by zero! ^-^

Re: Prototype
Still on the fence for either game. My friend bought infamous and he didn't like it, and wanted to get prototype instead. He didn't like the animation, and it crashed lol.

Re: Prototype
InFAMOUS is alright, it's fun to get all the new powers, but it's very repetitive. I haven't played it in a while, and I'm not sure I will anytime soon.

Re: Prototype
I haven't played Prototype, but i've played inFamous and consider it as an alright game, which gets entertaining for a while. But yes, it is VERY repetitive (there are only 5 missions out of the 30 avaliable ones, the rest are copies of them only in different places, and with a mere change in enemies depending if you're in the hero/infamous side XP), can be quite unfair at some parts, and from what i could experience alot, it's very glitchy...i've died under no circumstances a few times, fell into emptyness more times, and managed to jump through walls or "float" on them to reach otherwise-unreachable places ALOT of times, and also, if you don't follow a straight route during the story missions, you can miss some "flags" (like enemies appearing or a conversation starting) by skipping a mere small region (can be done by jumping, especially with all the glitchyness involving), and until you die or something, you won't be able to advance in the game...happened to me so many darn times too, and somehow ruins the purpose of being "open world" if you have to follow straight routes during the missions XP
Despite that, i do recommend it, though as a rent. Heck, i finished the main game in one single day, and within the next 2 days finished it once again and obtained all trophies, only missing the Hard one XD
