Prototype
Only one word can describe this game...INSANE!!! Your Alex Mercer, a shape-shifting mutant with unbelievable powers, ranging from changing your genetic codes to diguise yourself as anyone else, increase your muscle mass to anihilate almost anything in your path, summon a massive barrage of spikes from your insides, or go wolverine and grow some pretty sick claws. You can also glide, run on skyscrappers, obtain supernatural vison, and more. It's going to be released in a few days, so look out for this one to add in your PS3 or Xbox 360 library.
Enjoy
Enjoy

Re: Prototype
I am just going to rent it first and then I think I might buy it it looks like a awsome game and it should be fun taking over the aperances and memories of other people.

Re: Prototype
Glad to see there is a topic for this game here.
As indicated by my Sig, this game is great. I have been playing quite a bit since I picked it up on Friday and I have been blown away with how fun it is.
I encoded some Video Clips of my play for anyone on the fence. Links from my topic @ FTB
----
Tankin' 9 min 22 sec - 93.5MB
Bridge 6 min 53 sec - 68.9MB
Tankout 1 min 15 sec - 12.4MB
Also, same vids in a smaller and PSP ready .mp4. They look quite nice on my PSP. :yar:
Tankin' 9 min 22 sec - 53.4MB
Bridge 6 min 53 sec - 48.9MB
Tankout 1 min 15 sec - 7.0MB
----
I got a bunch of upgrades last night, and have been enjoying getting some big EP from using my Devastator attacks on Hives and Bases.
No Story (lol, pretty generic story) spoilers in the video. This game only out-ranked Red Faction Guerrilla, because it exceeded all my expectations. Per my friend, think GTA with Superpowers.

Disappointment with Prototype after playing it?
Everyone I know who played it loves it, as I do. Also, yes I linked videos for people who would rather watch a video off their machine, than do the tube. Me being one of them.
Just for conversations sake, I'd love to hear some reasons people who have played the game do not like it. Crackdown / GTA / Crazy homicidal rampages = Prototype IMO.

Re: Prototype
It was disappointing for the simple fact that it seemed as though it was trying to hard to be awesome. The story was too jumbled up, and attacking and eating people and tanks got to boring after a while. It was like Hulk: Ultimate Destruction got with GTA after spooning a virtual people simulator.

Re: Prototype
That's valid, and I do agree the story and 'acting' in the cutscenes is pretty laughable. (Skippable if you fancy)
I have not played that listed Hulk game, but I continue to be impressed with the implementation of Skills and abilities, that match up like silk to the smooth gameplay. Last I can recall, I am maybe 14/31 missions in around 11 hours.
I honestly think the game does itself credit by not taking itself too seriously, as the amount of combat or evasion options you have is pretty massive. You will also be changing your approach for a little bit when you get injected with gimp juice, taking almost all offensive powers away.
I also fell in love with the ability to destroy whatever I want. It's like a GTA progression to direct Mass Nerder.

Re: Prototype
Beat the game last night... And the ending was really disappointing. All you have to do is keep your distance, go into armor and muscle mass, and throw things. Plus, with the way you can get so far so fast just by freaking out on the RT and A buttons, there isn't much in the game that can hit you once you have the Double Airdash Boost. Jacking copters is child's play. Tanks are a waste of time to even go after. Hives are the only good source of points, and copters rape them. You can really just beat the game by throwing cars/air conditioners/destroyed army vehicles at everything but the mutated elizabeth green boss. And that one's best to use the Air Pain Devastator on!
Do I even need to mention how easy it is to spam lock on in order to have slow-mo?

Re: Prototype
I completely agree. My friend bought it and let me play it. The game seemed to me like it was trying way too hard to be awesome and epic, and it failed epically. I found Infamous to be wholeheartedly better and not as repetitive.haseoxth wrote:One word.... Disappointment.

Re: Prototype
really? i found it annoying and repeatitive just as much as Prototype, theres no way to control when or where you climb on something, so half the time Im being stuck ono something i didnt want to.TheEnigma wrote:I completely agree. Re: Prototype
Bah! Infamous is worse imo, it's like Spiderman w/o web slinging and a horrible story. It's mad repetitive since most of the missions are exactly the same either you destroy this, or climb up something and get a dumb moral choice before you destroy something else. The AI is cheap as hell, it's almost like they have a 6th sense for you, sniping you from buildings with AK-47s. The characters were crap along with the story.TheEnigma wrote:I completely agree. The only thing I liked about Infamous was being evil.

Re: Prototype
Yeah, i did have a problem with the climbing, but in my opinion it was an overall more fun game. To me, prototype seemed to just throw you into the middle of a mess. You are constantly being barraged by attacks and can not just explore without the thought of getting attacked.Kyero Fox wrote:really? i found it annoying and repeatitive just as much as Prototype, theres no way to control when or where you climb on something, so half the time Im being stuck ono something i didnt want to.TheEnigma wrote:I completely agree. Prototype is like Spiderman without webs as well. Its more noticable in that than it is in Infamous if you ask me. And both games have repetitive side quests and missions. But atleast in Infamous you get moral choices, unlike prototype where you just smash cars and people.Vahn Staffear wrote:Bah! Re: Prototype
True, but for me i found it difficult to do so due to the controls. Not to mention a started from my friends file which was halfway through the game so i had no clue what to do. But when i did get a hold of things, it just wasn't all that satisfying.
