Online games can't go on forever. they just tend to last longer. Mods and people needed to run the game can quit (just like with Gate to heavens that just recently shut down). people can get bored and quit, game just turns crap and people quit. updates ruin the game.

I read the article Aku, and I may not have understood most of it (because I'm that stupid and pathetic) but let me see if I got this straight. While the 360 has a lot of power and is easy to make games on, it has to share that power so everything works? And the PS3 being difficult to develope for, you can do more for it and add more material?

From what i've read before though, it rather seems to me like the 360 can use it's power much more effectively with less hassle than the ps3, while the ps3 truly has a shitload of it.
Then there seems to be some slight differences in what graphics techniques the GPUs are good at and stuff.
I'll read it today. Got some spare time anyway.

As much as my Playstation fanboy would agree with you, I afraid I would have to disagree. Xenos (is that what it's called?) seems to be way better then the PS3's RSX. Plus both the PS3 and 360 seem to be evenly matched, so it's hard to tell which is better.

i would say they did win in the handheld department

they made a handheld system that has good graphics expandable save data, and games for those hardcore sony gamers...they also made a way to access the internet through wifi for online gaming, in essence the psp is a gaming palmpilot.

Yet Nintendo outsell them by far :D
(btw, DS has wifi online gaming and will have a browser pretty soon)


As for the "snuffed out" comment, i hardly see this coming.
As the article in that recent post of proves together with videos of Gears of War and Call of Duty 3, the xbox 360 has equal graphics to the ps3.

Also, Square-enix has stated that they won't be "taking sides" this gen, so don't expect square-enix to exclusively back up the ps3.

I don't think any game will be using a vr visor anytime soon. Give it a few years and we may be seeing some neat pc games like that.

xbox will fall...especially if blueray takes over...because then it will be much cheaper to buy a ps3 to use as a blue ray than to spend 1,000$ to get a actual blueray player...

I got this Aku, Balian read the article Aku posted before. Blu-Ray doesn't seem to be helping that much like a lot of people hope. In fact, it seems to be making things harder for developers.

blueray hasnt started up yet...but from my experiances blueray movies are extremely high quality...i almost dont want to watch a dvd now that ive seen blueray

I don't doubt Blu-Ray, I would love to have a Blu-Ray player. Although it seems to be having a rough start and it may take a miracle for it to raise up to expections.

I think i posted this in the xbox 360/games for windows topic rather than here, but the Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive you can purchase can be used with your computer too by simply downloading a driver (i think microsoft is going to include those drivers in windows later on too).
A HD-DVD drive for your Xbox 360 AND your Pc for 200$? Does that not sound worth it? ^^
I personally doubt the vast amounts of space a blueray disc holds will ever be needed. After all, keeping the size to a minimum is an aspect of making a good game too. The less data it is, the faster the reading is, making things more effecient, right?

rally i think 360 is going to be snuffed out, Ps3 and the Wii are the main competetors, the Wii has the overall scale of games for the family, and the playstation3 has the best graphics of all the systems + the good old fashioned square enix games....i also heard a rumor about sony reproducing the virtual reality visor they made previously for the ps3.

LOL, name a game on the PSP that sold over 3 million copies world wide, I can give you two on the Dr Kawashima's Brain Training and New Super Mario Bros.

PSP was sold, because the earlier versions of the interface could been "hacked" putting old school games like they did in PS1. Sony lost the Hand-held wars because of the ill-format of the system also the price, PSP is double the DS very bad. e.g UMD terrible, like the GC choice with those mini-DVDs disc.

I wouldnt class the PC as a Console machine, because it can be upgraded, and there are other purposes, besides games which makes the PC superior to consoles. The console war will be a close one, I think it will be out of the WII (low price) and PS3. The Xbox 360 doesnt have the attractive third party licences from the former 2 however due to the surge of online gaming, thanks to a certain game I dont think consoles will be successful as they were before.

also if you think about it...sony is better than all of them....Does microsoft or nintendo produce: tvs, monitors, mp3 pplayers, speakers, amps, sound systems dvd players blu-ray players minidisc players and have theyre own studio for music artists like micheal jackson, mandy moore, switchfoot, system of a down......i dont think so

What there has anything to do with their sucess in the video game department? (remember, blue-ray is not confirmed to be a smash hit yet)

Does Sony produce an OS that's used by the majority of this planet's inhabitants? I don't think so :D

aha but they do make computors that support the os that is hacked into and targeted by the majority of hackers.....to tell you the truth if macintosh made a game system no one would survive its mighty blow....

Ofcourse they're targeted. You're looking at the fact that they are targeted, but start thinking about WHY they're targeted. It's simple really.

the good thing about sony is its not headed by americans...we are foolish..make things as fast as possible not caring about the quality and work ythe bugs out later.... the war will be between sony and nintendo microsoft will just be the bistander that gets in the crossfire

Oh, you're looking at EA Games now. They fortunately doesn't represent the american game industry as a whole.
And hey, how many smart moves has Sony pulled ever since the ps3 was announced?

Nintendo specialises in games no one beats them in their own department,
Microsoft specialises in software not really in games, even without the Xbox Microsoft is still one of the biggest business out there. Microsoft they only entered into the console business to see if they can make a quick buck and they must of, otherwise they wouldnt of release the Xbox 360. Same with Sony and their laxed control over software developers, however Sony specialises in Sound and Vision (which you just described and glorified it in your example) and they too entered in the console wars for the exact same reason and were successful.

I hope no one really dominates the games market cause if they do, you can tell whats gonna happen to the price of the next console.

You could say no they didnt but there were other consoles which were extremely unsucessful. Here are some of the list, Amiga CD32, 3DO, Atari Jaguar/Lynx, Sega's range (released too many consoles and perperhials in quick succession), Phillips CDi.

Dear god that will be catastrophic. CC Corp2 is a bad game developer. I mean they cater to the fans and all but if I didn't like Dot Hack I would think that all those games were pieces of grade A cow ship! XD Maybe if they were more like...Square Enix (not many bad games) or bungie (One bad game) they could take over the world with some awesome OS that resists an awesome computer virus.
