Liminality

I'm sure the questions already been answered somewhere but what is .hack liminality about?
And what connections does it have to any of the games?

Ok, my games where preowned so I didn't get liminality but I was on youtube and typed something in and came up with an episode of what I thought was .hack sign where the character gardenia was played by 3 girls each taking turns leveling the character up and in the end it showed that mimiru was saved from a giant monster by gardenia, but in turn her character was irretrievably lost

does that sound like anything close to liminality, did I miss an episode of .hack//sign or did i just waste 10 minutes typing all this?

I did read it, I just needed to get that other thing off the top of my head because it was driving me crazy trying to figure out what I saw.

Either way you answered the questioned I ultimately needed and I thank you for that I can now put my mind at rest
