Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE

Post by Long Arm »

AKA CLAMP's Ultimate Mega Crossover as one of my friend's calls it.
Image

Summary- Syaoran, a boy who wants to become an archeologist, and Sakura, a princess from the Clow Kingdom, are childhood friends with a close relationship. On a fateful night, Sakura lost all her memories as a result of a conspiracy to obtain her powers. In order to regain her memory, Syaoran seeks help from the witch, Yuuko. Yuuko tells Syaoran that he has to travel from one alternate reality to another to collect fragments of Sakura's memory. However, even if Sakura regains her memory, she will have no recollection of Syaoran. Travelling together with them is Kurogane, a warrior who was exiled from his country, and Fai, a magician who wants to escape from his King. With the help of a magical creature, Mokona, they set off on an exciting journey through time and space.

The manga is definately one of my all-time favorites, at some points it may seem a little kiddy at first but that's definately not true(especially for anyone who knows about the later arcs xP But shutting up on that). I can't have the same undying love for the anime, curse BeeTrain for making everything so...un-violent, filler-filled, kid-happy and just plain weird at some moments. But it's still a great anime with it's highs that're lovely. So anyhow, place for anyone to discuss the manga and/or anime.

NOTE- If you're like me and have been keeping up with Tsubasa in Japan a bit a little something to keep all happy. Please keep all posts on events and happenings that happen AFTER the current volume of Tsubasa out in America in spoiler tags. There're some huge spoilers and no one wants them really... well, spoiled.

As of now the last episode of the anime out is Episode 40- Black Steel.
Really don't read the following unless you've read... I believe volume 13 of Tsubasa. It's spoiler-tastic.
My eyes got a little teary in this episode but I didn't full out get emotional like I did when reading the part in the manga. Poor Kuro-kun! Animation was great and I loved seeing this episode after the wave of fillers. Violence was toned down. A LOT. Kurogane's mom got stabbertized. Yet I saw nooo blood actually around her. Sure it was on the dagger/sword but she didn't BLEED. Kurogane's dad's arm was turned into stone. Oh and magical rings that bind Kurogane. WTF. So they have to totally cut out Tomoyo scarring Kurogane's hand? Besides those little things I actually love this episode. So sad... but they got rid of the group actually ENTERING Lecourt... your thoughts?

Well you've just officially turned me off from the anime ^^; It kinda Irks me that they toned it down alot, and ontop of that as you say it's "fillers galore". I really did like the manga for awhile and FaixMokona= super cute!, but after Volume 8 I got kinda "iffy" on bothering to buy them anymore. It's weird that I still go for XxXholic though. Does anything particularly interesting happen during the later part of the Yasha and Ashura arc? Seeing Syoran dressed in drag was priceless and all, but the beginning was just kinda boring to me ^^;;. Oh and spoilers for this are fine.

I bash the anime(I'm quite nit-picky on some things) a lot but it isn't that bad all the time... they do wonderful sometimes I just wish they could keep with that quality. The Outo-Edonis arc was done wonderfully. But they do love their fillers sometimes, in season two there's a pointless one where they end up on a bus in the middle of what looks like Arizona. But some fillers are nice. I mean who doesn't like absurd random chibis?

Kuro-zilla made my day.

The whole arc in Shura is great; though personally I didn't like the boring going ons in Shara. It's a good read so I'd urge you to continue. ^^ After Shura/Shara and Piffle World the manga gets a lot deeper and well, darker once it hits Rekord Country and Tokyo. It's a good thing really and sets a whole different emotion to the manga. Won't be disappointed with the manga so again, keep readin'!

Alright then, you seem really firm in your opinion ^^ I'd like to go out now and get the ones I'm missing. I'll save that for later this week though *It's not like I have much of a choice, yeah it's no fun being broke :P * Well Im off to download Tsubasa's first season then. ^^ Yay for the absurd chibi! Especially Fai...

Mokona Modoki... ¬_¬

I like Tsubasa, its quite an interesting idea, the fact that Tsubasa:RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE and xxxHOLiC are both meant to tie together all of CLAMP's works...

At the moment, all I can get my hands on is the anime, and apart from being easier to obtain, its a cheaper habit for me. At the moment I've just finished up to where they leave Jade Country for the next world.

I also like the music in Tsubasa which, funnily enough, was done by Yuki Kajiura, whom I'm a massive fan of.

I can't decide who I like more, Fye or Kurogane...

I've found CLAMP is becoming worse and worse as time goes on, but I've yet to see Tsubasa.

I have to say, I'm annoyed with the Tsubasa anime, as it tones down a lot of things. But I do love the manga, mainly Kurogane. I live for moments with Kuro-tan. 8)

I personally like the series (for me, TRC is the best CLAMP´s anime). I haven´t read the manga ´cause i didn´t see in my place. All four characters are very good for me. I think that Mokona is missing in the poll, I bet that people would like to vote it.

I had an "other" option edited onto the poll before but that disappeared... and anyhow most other characters are from different CLAMP stories. Oh well. Thanks for the advice Laysh, I'll try putting Mokona on the poll now! (Though we all know sooner or later Kuro-wanwan will win! <3)

Actually I'm a bit suprised. Fai and Syaoran usually dominate these sort of polls with Kurogane crawling behind...

I decided to pick Fai as he seems a bit more like me than most other characters, particularly in the way he smiles no matter what is happening, which seems a lot more like me.

He's also got a lot more mystery behind him in the way he acts than any of the other characters, he's not particularly brave, but he's a charming person and very intelligent.

Alright! I've had season one for a few days already, but I've finally been able to actually start watching it. ^^;. Even though Ive only seen the first 5 episodes so far I'm liking it alot. Kurogane is 2X awesome in the anime. And Kuro-tan and mokoni are so cute together! *ahem* They took out some small things and added some different events in the Hanshin republic part, but all for the better ^^ Except for the cut of Sorata's Puppetshow explanantion of the Hanshin republic >.< I wanted to see that! This show would probably be up there in my #1 spot right now, if they would have left it unchanged, especially for the fights. But I'm still glad I've been turned back on to like it ^^.

Wow Tsubasa is amazing. My favorite character is definitely Fai. I mean come on he's absolutely amazing and he brings the fun to the group(well him and Mokona). Kurogane is cool too though. Syaoran is too angsty for my tastes. I love when they finally tell Kurogane's story and am looking forward to when we learn more about Fai.

Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE has references to just about every CLAMP series that has ever been made.

The main characters; Sakura and Syaoran, as well as Kurogane's ruler; Princess Tomoyo, come from Cardcaptors. Fai knew a girl called Chi in his world and she is a character from Chobits. The Kudan from the first world are derived from Magic Knights Rayearth.

As the series goes on, many of the characters encountered will be from previous works. The idea was for Tsubasa to tie together all of CLAMP's works with the explanation that different series are set in different dimensions.

I can't get my eyes off the manga and I'm patiently trying to wait for more.
I like the story and every character that there is very much. This tale has even shocked me one's because of the latest events that have happened.

It is a pity that the anime isn't as great as the manga, in my opinion, but I gues it is a way to tell the story little differently. Though it would have been very wonderfull if they would have made the anime as well as the manga.
It even looks like that the first season was made better than the second of the anime. But there is still way to go for the second season.

I hope the third season will be better, but as long as I can read the manga I can handle the anime.

I wonder what will be waiting everyone in the end.

A truly wondrous CLAMP masterpiece

Post by Shadow Dragon »

This [poll] was especially difficult for me to choose just one of the main cast, since I've enjoyed each of their characters so much.

While I openly despise the fan-word "smexy" (cringes) :vom: I have to admit Fai is something else when it comes to magicians. He's hillarious, he's calm and collected, and he drives the ever-serious Kurogane up the wall!

Sakura & Syaoran are, of course, some of my long-favorite characters. It took me no time at all to scoop this series up after I'd heard so many positive things about it, not to mention the "Sakura & Syoaran are back!" manga summary caught my eye. I can't WAIT to see the anime!
