Japanese voiceover...

Post by VKV »

Well since I couldn't find any topic of this and wanted to know...:P

So, does anybody know if there will be japanese voiceover in GU games, like in the four first games or have they decided not to put them there?

I hope there will be japanese voice over or it might be rather trouplesome... :?

*gasp's in shock* you don't know yet?

we have found out everything about GU, even down to the tiniest little speck of dust! of course at this stage of the game, we would know if such a relatively small easter egg is available after we beat the game's! (pure sarcasm in it's most buetiful form!)

why would we know about any easter egg prize right now, when we hardly know anything about the game itself?

Heh, I suggest you wait and find out when it's (close to being) released in the US.

Some believe English VAs ruin the quality of the game.

It is an opinion thing. Same thing comes up with anime. As Xu Yuan said (or was getting to rather), some people believe that as close to the original as possible is how to preserve the quality that was intended.

If I'm not mistaken, that would require also getting a Japanese console to play it on.

Sorry what I meant was they want to listen to it in it's original language, after watching Roots I've gained an instinct appreciation for the Japanese VA's. It will be difficult to accept it in English now.

True. In the old games, they made room for the Japanese voiceovers by removing the Parody Mode track. If, as seems likely, the new games use that space for game data instead of a second audio track, we may be out of luck.

I really hope they have the Japanese w/ English subtitles option. That's how I played the 4 original games, so I don't see any reason to break the tradition. ^-^

It's like anime... some dubs are okay or even good, yeah.. but some of 'em...well... if they don't have a subtitle option, I want my money back. >_<

In my opinion, the first four .hacks had top-notch English voiceovers, barring a few characters, with some pretty big names in the VA industry. Generally, with JRPG's, voice acting is either hit or miss. The fact that Mary McGlynn (<3 Mary Mcglynn <3) voiced Helba and narrated really helped, though. Very few games include both audio tracks these days, and //G.U. is already a substantially larger game. We'll see.

I said 'some believe.' Not 'I believe,' so stop arguing with me about something I don't care anything about...
