I bought it within the first hour it was released, and I've loved it ever since. It was definitely a much nicer handheld than it's rival, the DS.

Haseo:terrorofdeath wrote:I already have a DS so, the PSP would be to go with my DS. I am a fan of the series' that Nintendo has. I love Zelda, Mario, and Metroid. I think that the PSP is pretty nice but it is battery sapping and it also has only one analog stick. Now I am not normally a violent person but if I ran into the idiot that decided that the PSP needed only one analog stick, I may slam them right in the teeth. FPSes are crippled by it and so many other games are crippled by this. I will say that the screen is nice and I have seen it playing video and it is gorgeous so I am still saying yes to it. I plan to overclock when I buy one so that I can use the full power of the CPU despite the fact that it will eat my battery even faster. I love the DS because developers just have more room to expand on the DS and make more innovative games. Power isn't everything. I have had my DS for about a year now and it has been perfect. I have a few games but they are good. I am just getting a PSP for more traditional games.
1. The PSP isn't a "batter-zapper" as the rumors say. A full charged batter can last about 5-8 hours straight depending on the volume you use.

2. 1 analog stick IS enough and it's 1 more than the DS has...

3. The DS hardly has room for innovative games. That pen thing really doesn't cut it, not to mention the fact that it wears out the DS' screen unless you buy extra accessories for it to prevent that. Even then, those are limitted in their protection. And if you take away the pen, than the DS is nothing more than a suped-up gameboy.

Sorry, but the PSP is better. Both in features and in sales.

Someone out-did Nintendo and now they have competition as opposed to a hand-held monopoly?

based on what I've seen I'm going with psp, mainly because it seems I can take out several birds w/ one stone. and Haseo, you're sounding like a nintendo fanboy, and don't give me the "innovation" guise.

i've got a psp, and the battery life...
it's short, but it depends on the game and the volume.
there are some good games (gta:lcs for example)
and there are alot coming out soon.
though i'm waiting for tenchu shinobi taizen
to come to europe..

6-8 hours of battery life is plenty, unless you're on a really long road trip. But even then, there's always accessories you can buy that let it plug in to your car's cigarette lighter.

Competition is a good thing. Nintendo did have a monopoly on the handheld market. There have been other handhelds released over the years, but they have all sucked. The main reason the PSP did well is because Sony was determined to secure a place in the market, and to do that they had to make a product that was good enough.

Back on topic, no, I don't want a PSP. Or a DS, or any other handheld. Portable gaming in general lost it's appeal for me many years ago.

Yeah! gamegear and neogeo were the Sh**. i still play metal slug on my neogeo all the time...

back on topic, i got a bunch of accessories for my PSP so my battery life is doubled and ive got plenty of room for all the anime i put on it, i see no problems besides the fact i poured so much cash in it for all the games and accessories.

Well, that's not Sony's fault. If you use more resources at a faster rate than normal, they will also run out faster also. If you're on a road trip that's more than 4 hours (with the volume up) or more than 7 hours (with normal settings) and you plan on playing it for that many hours on end, I would recommend forking over the few extra dollars to buy a cord to plug into your car.

Haseo:terrorofdeath wrote:I just see more room for that on the DS. Touch control opens a world of options.
Such as? A touch screen doesn't really open up any new options except now the DS players can ruin their DS faster by scratching up the screen with their finger or pen. As far as gameplay goes, it really doesn't offer much.
I hope that there is some innovation on the PSP albeit hampered by the lack of any innovative features.
Are you kidding? The PSP offers twice as much as the DS does. Considering that you don't know this already, I'd assume that when you used a PSP, you didn't do much with it. My PSP can do a lot of stuff. Stuff that Nintendo couldn't touch with their DS.

I find the psp worse.
1. The games, short, lagging, and sometimes it's just plain screwey.
2. There are not many games, let alone any real good games.
3. The battery life forces people to buy other products if they plan on traveling. and you can't just by the car charger.
4. games cost consel price
5. Wallpapers are useless because you spend about 10 seconds on the selection area.
6. Music, well for two reasons.. I hate music exept music from games like FF##, Advance wars, lumines. and the fact that if you want to listen to music.. listen on your computer, or buy an ipod.. you can get them for like 40$ and they dont always have to be 1 kinda music.
7. Videos? Sure It may be good to have a cd of videos. but the fact that downloading videos makes it screw up, lag more, and have less, makes it not worth it.
8. Almost no games can go online. and the ones that can are stupid.

which brings me to 9. IF YOU EVER DROP IT OR SET IT DOWN IN THE WRONG WAY!! THATS IT BUH BYE!! The ds has protection, The screen is protected. the psp screen says, KILL ME!!!!! And Thats another EXPAMPLE OF THEM FORCEING YOU TO BUY MORE PRODUCTS FOR THE ALREDY OVERPRICED SYSTEM!!

The Ds, is protected. has more games, has two difrent kinds of games, has CASUAL CHATING!!! AND YOU CAN TYPE FASTER USEING SYLES THAN YOU CAN WITH PSP.. THAT IS EVEN IF YOU CAN!!
The Ds is lower priced, stronger, not as big length wise maken it easyer to fit in pocket.

(I am not going to say I hate the joystick like most people.. because I never had a problem...)

OOOO one more thing
The ds Rarley has dead pixels. I bought the psp and most of my screan was WHITE. The Ds gets a warrenty for dead pixels, broken screans (on this part, it happend to me and I got repaired for 50$, and stuck buttons.

Story behind screan breaking: I was fixing pillows on couch.. i was on florr.. and did not know ds was there.. set my leg on it and crushed it.. It wasent a huge crush as it was protected.. but it was fairly big..

I plan on getting one eventually. Though probably not until Sony makes one with a built in hard drive. I don't exactly want to spend another $200 on a 2gig memory card.

You know CopainChevalier, I've had a PSP since it's launch and I've never had ANY of those problems and neither has anyone I've ever known to have one. To be honest, I think you're just regurgitating rumors and myths and exagerrating various uncommon.

So please get a clue as to what you're talking about before you start making subjective comments from your Nintendo bias.

i'm nott saying it's sony's fault, i think it's logical.. p;us i already have one of those cords for in the car :)
