LotT connections to AI Buster (SPOILERS!!!)
As the topic suggests, there's a LOT of connections to AI Buster in the manga (Not the anime, which sux0rs) The most obvious of all is Lycoris in Net Slum, volume 3, and shots of all the different characters from .hack at the end features Hokuto, Curl, and other characters from AI Buster and ZERO.
Now here's something really big. We all say the WB Yeats thread at the end of LotT, right? "The world will turn, the world will turn" etc.? Now, let's flip through AI Busters, which has been recently been translated. W.B. Yeats, in .hack, is a high level player that Roleplays a minstrel, goes to big events in the World, makes an improvised poem and posts it on the board. However, to write about the event, he has to BE there, right? We also know that Hokuto is W.B. Yeats, who makes new accounts and pretends to be a newbie so he can get to new events unnoticed, right? (yak, yak, I know. Ok, here's the good part:)
Now think about this. W.B. Yeats wrote about the event with Shugo and the others, and had to know enough to participate. Who do we know who actually played the game back in the days of Fragments like W.B. Yeats? Only Balmung, but he was there with Hokuto in a few scenes, so he's out as a candidate. It could be Kamui, but she doesn't know diddly about Shugo's adventures except from a business standpoint. Also remember that W.B. Yeats roleplays as a newbie..................
We're looking at YOU, Hotaru *GASP* :O

actually I've heard that Rena new W.B. Yates or something...although Hotaru is a good theory...but many people have been saying that Hotaru isn't W.B. Yates...AuraTwilight wrote:As the topic suggests, there's a LOT of connections to AI Buster in the manga (Not the anime, which sux0rs) The most obvious of all is Lycoris in Net Slum, volume 3, and shots of all the different characters from .hack at the end features Hokuto, Curl, and other characters from AI Buster and ZERO.

Right. Like Rena has that many connections. I find it sufficient that she was friends with the original dot hackers, mmkay? Unless Kazu is W.B. Yeats or something, but he wasn't there for most of the event, and he wasn't playing in the Fragment days. Plus, W.B. Peats ONLY Roleplays n00bs. That leaves Hotaru, and Hotaru alone.

yes but...(I just heard -_-) that in some mini manga or something that comes with one of the //LOTT mangas it explains how Rena knew W.B. Yates or something...that little manga insert or whatever you want to call it wasn't included in the English version...AuraTwilight wrote:Right. Like Rena has that many connections. Not quite. That story is about Rena's first character, but neither W.B. nor Hokuto is so much as mentioned. The Rena-Hokuto connection is established in the short manga that came with the .hack//黄昏の腕輪伝説 Rena Special Pack.Nishi wrote:They talk about how Rena is friends with W.B. in AI Buster 2, actually, it's in the fourth chapter.
AI Buster 2 does establish that Hotaru and W.B. are not the same person.
Ooh, I guess I got those confused, nevermind. :BShinsou Wotan wrote:Not quite. That story is about Rena's first character, but neither W.B. nor Hokuto is so much as mentioned. Hokuto's supposed to be: Something like a translator in real life (I think someone said she was working on translating the epitaph, but I don't know for sure) and had to change names because her boss found her playing The World when she was supposed to be working, right? So she's an adult with a job, and since we know the offline persona of most .hack characters there aren't many that this can be... and then Kula mentioned her being friends with Rena, so Rena probably just told her about it.

Well, in the case that Hotaru is Yates, he could be roleplaying like he did with Hakuto. as for Mistral/Mirei, I was just joking.Hotaru can't be Yates. Why? Hotaru is a tomboyish girl accessing the Japanese servers to learn Japanese. She's either from North or South Dakota (Those darn Dakotas) and her Japanese teacher is Sanjuro.
Mireille cannot be Yates because Mistral gave her character to her daughter, Mirei. Mirei is only 4 years old and therefore couldn't possibly be in AI Buster which occured almost 9 years before Udeden. Also, Mirei changed the character's name from Mistral to Mireille at a name changing event.
No. No details are known about Hakuto/Yeat's personal life whatsoever, so whoever told you this is full of crap. Not to mention that the Epitaph has already been translated in every major language for over a decade.Something like a translator in real life (I think someone said she was working on translating the epitaph, but I don't know for sure) and had to change names because her boss found her playing The World when she was supposed to be working, right? Someone else discussing Yeats here have mentioned something like that before. I know I can't prove it, but if there's something that mentions it I'd have to guess it's the first chapter of AI Buster, since that's supposed to be AI Buster from Hokuto's point of view... Albireo talks casually with Hokuto in one part of AI Buster and she said that she likes to think of herself as more of a poet... so I think that little part was to hint about her career.AuraTwilight wrote:No. No details are known about Hakuto/Yeat's personal life whatsoever, so whoever told you this is full of crap. Actually, Hotaru is in Boston. She doesn't know Sanjuro except in The World.kulaguy wrote:Hotaru can't be Yates. Why? Hotaru is a tomboyish girl accessing the Japanese servers to learn Japanese. She's either from North or South Dakota (Those darn Dakotas) and her Japanese teacher is Sanjuro.
On the contrary. A great many details of Haruka Mizuhara's life are revealed in .hack//AI buster/2nd Character, the first story in AI Buster 2. And while various parts of the Epitaph have been collected and translated, the original is still very much a mystery.AuraTwilight wrote:No. No details are known about Hakuto/Yeat's personal life whatsoever, so whoever told you this is full of crap. Indeed, this is true, but he was referring to the original AI Busters, not volume two. As for the Epitaph, the original version was lost, so it's impossible to translate something you don't have access to. I would guess that the closest thing to the true Epitaph would be the pages Harold left in the World. On the contrary. I think that was supposed to be a Hakuto=Yeats connection, since Yeats roleplays as a traveling minstrel and posts poems on the board.Albireo talks casually with Hokuto in one part of AI Buster and she said that she likes to think of herself as more of a poet... so I think that little part was to hint about her career.

GameFAQs is a piece of crap. I went there once and they thought that Lycoris' name came from the candy, Licorish, and I never went there again. -________-AuraTwilight wrote:Heh. It was someone on GameFAQ's who started that load of crap. He claimed to have a clip of the Novel as backup and posted a fake conversation in the story. It was total bull. I even got the guy to admit it was a fake in an AIM session. pwned.
But I think W.B. Yeats is Hokuto, although there actually is a real W.B. Yeats which is weird. o_O I need to read the AI Busters... This topic is so confusing for me. @_@
Another main connection from AI Buster to LotT is the fact that Kamui knew Watarai, and they both have the same spear. (I think it's explained in AI Buster 1 or 2) There is a scene where she talks a lot about him and you see him in some panels.
