Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online

Post by Kaori »

Before any of you say that this is a WOW rip-off shut your mouth's and pay attention, Warhammer came first before warcraft and focuses more on RPG while warcraft is more on pointless "strategic" nonsense, expect lots of sci-fi dark fantasy and pretty much magic+technology.
On the very edge of the galaxy lies the Sargos Sector. For centuries it was rendered uninhabitable and isolated by volatile Warp Storms. Even now, deep within the sector the very fabric of reality is unraveling. Only the ancient Sentinel Devices hold the Warp at bay.

But the ravages of time and meddling of humanity have weakened the Sentinel Devices-and now, the battle for these lost worlds is at hand. Drawn to the conflict, the great races of the galaxy descend upon the Sargos Sector, seeking to preserve reality-or to tear it asunder.

Side with the forces of Order, or the vile hosts of Destruction, in a war that will unlock ancient secrets, reveal dark purposes, and determine the fate of the Sargos Sector. For in this dark millennium, there is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter.

Gameplay
So far the only confirmed playable faction is the Imperium of man and that you can drive vehicles and customize your character, since its the Imperium of man the factions within it are the Adeptus Astartes(space marines in english) who are genetically enhanced super soldiers in very thick power armor along with multiple chapters and then there's the Imperial Guard who are Completely weaker than the space marines but are much more flexible and have better vehicles, The inquisition who pretty much deal with heretics and anything that speaks out against the God Emperor of mankind, and then there's the Adeptus Mechanicus who pretty much worship human technology and loathe alien technology who specialize in scientific stuff, any other questions about it just ask.

Just to call you up on this point; most people are aware that it's not a WoW rip-off because it's based off of a TABLE-TOP GAME SERIES of the same name that's been going on for at least 30 years, if not that then even longer, which in itself is a spin-off series of the original Warhammer.

If anything at all, Warcraft is the 'ripper-offer' in this equation.

Also, as I've already mentioned before, I'm an avid Tau fanboy, and will probably choose their army if and when they get announced. If not, then Lets hope the Tyranids are playable.

lately there are only mentions of forces of order and forces of chaos, its probably gonna be all factions in 2 divisions, and the setting of this seems to be right after the horus heresy didnt the tau first show up in soulstorm?

Colonial expansion?
Spreading the teachings of the Greater Good?

They're still a growing race, so no doubt they'd simply be seeking to expand their influence on the universe at this point in time.

Holy Cow! I thought that this may turn out to be another one of those point and click types but it looks sick! So uh if that is set in 40,000 why do humans use outdated looking machines?

Its because their background story states that they are basically just using designs of old machines since they arent capable of even advancing their technology, furthermore they even have a hard time reproducing said technology, the only ones capable of even making machines are the adeptus mechanicus.

HERETIC! Just kidding, I think nobodyknows already explained it up there and warcraft and starcraft are rip-offs, there is a warhammer fantasy and besides warhammer came out even before blizzard thought of warcraft.

This game uses the darksiders engine! Its more on action, vehicular combat and hacking and slashing!
And in WOW you just point and click! Where's the fun in that?! And if you ever say that again then please leave, I will not tolerate your heresy.

in the warhammer 40k lore they're reffered to as Ork's, and by the way nobodyknows what space marine chapter is that on the trailer? Because their symbol looked like a black maltese cross so I'm thinking black templars.

They are indeed the Black Templars, and my overall favourite chapter of the Space Marine forces, seeing as they are the chapter the closest in relation to the Grey Knights, which in turn are linked to the Daemonhunters.

I would be willing to bet that Tyrannids and Necrons will not be "playable" races. REASON BEING, both are Engineered races that have no real free will, or creativity within their ranks. Hard to be a "character" when you have no choices to make while leveling.
