I've been playing Vindictus a lot recently, I've been wondering if any of you have. If not you should try! It's done by Nexon, The same people that do Maplestory, Mabinogi, And Combat Arms. Here's the trailer for anyone that's curious...
The game runs on Valve's Source engine, meaning that the physics in game are pretty good. Frankly, I think this is one of the best MMOs out there right now. You start out by selecting a character. This is the only down side IMO to the game. classes have a set gender so you won't be able to be a female dual blade or a male mage. As of right now the characters playable in Vindictus Global are as follows...
Lann:A male dual blade. Fast and powerful, Lann is able to wield dual spears as an alternate to dual blades at later levels.
Next is Fiona, The Sword and Shield user. She excels in slow and powerful blows and is able to block attacks. She can later learn how to use one handed hammers with shields at later levels.
Finally Evie, The female mage character. Evie starts off using a staff but can switch to a scythe later in the game. As of now Evie has the longest range in the game. Evie acts as a healer, a strong ranged combatant, and a powerful melee attacker. As I said before she can at later levels switch to using a scythe, though the latter takes away the ability for most elemental and healing magic.
(In addition to these three we know of two other characters that will be released. Karok, the Berserk and Kai, the Archer. Karok will be released in The korean servers very soon so we can expect him soon.)
Overlooking the character system though the game is really well made. The player after playing the tutorial in which they fight a Giant spider(Optional) starts off in the small town of Colhen as a Crimson Blade recruit. The Crimson Blades are a group of mercenaries that act as the towns defense and guard. The game takes place in the same world as Mabinogi and as such some characters you find in Vindictus will be based on characters from Mabinogi, An example being the town blacksmith Ferghus. If you remember from Mainogi Ferghus was the absolute worst blacksmith in the game with a 10% success rate of repairing equipment(as I recall) You get caught up in a war deciding the fate of the world as far as anyone can tell between the humans, and the Fomors. The game is based on a quest system. As of now there is one "Root Town" which acts as your base of operations, To go on quests you need to go just outside of town to one of the 6 docks available(as of now). You then select a mission(Set the oath of honor (extra mission)) and wait on a boat until you(and your party) are ready to depart. Once in a dungeaon you fight monsters, mine for ore, or just go around breaking stuff with your party! At the end of each dungeon there is a boss that you must defeat in order to clear the dungeon. Another thing the game really has for it are the graphics which are truly stunning in an online game, and a free one at that!
To conclude I think that many of you will have fun with it and should give it a try!
If you want to go on some missions together just hit me up! I play on the west servers, My name is AzureFlame.
I am currently in the guild TheAzureKnights is anyone wants to join, Though when the guild name glitch is fixed I hope to be the proud leader of Azure Knights myself.

Uh is this game for free or do I need to pay something because it looks good, and I've been itching to play something online on my laptop.

That's the thing with Nexon games, They are free to download and play! Of course they have the option to pay for NX which allows you to buy stuff in their cash shop. As of right now there isn't anything truly amazing you can buy for NX so you should be safe from the urge to buy it. Oh and here's the site...I can't believe I forgot to post this in my last post...

The game is currently limited to Canada and the US but there are plans for a Europe Version. It's pretty fun for a face-paced MMO but the boats can be repetitive at times. TBH, it reminds me of the .hack world. There is one stationary town where quests are offered and then the Docks to enter the various battles. Not much of a open world with 2 major locations, but hopefully they'll add a new town soon.
Some examples of maps would be ruins, ice caves, burning town, more ruins, and another dark icy cave. Sometimes the maps itself will change depending on the mini-boss appearing or not. The boss fights are exciting esp. when you're starting out the game. Just a warning, the craft system is ... kind of time consuming requiring a player to collect hundreds of items in one way or another.

Looks good, but the character limits are pretty bad. I want a SnS male. Or a big fat Axe wielding guy!
