TES V: Skyrim

Post by Altre »

Anyone else anticipating its release MONTHS from now?

My info source for the game: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php ... formation/

Also, I'm trying to get it through to this guy on those forums that hand-to-hand in a game based off of Dungeons & Dragons should be functional. What was your opinion of hand-to-hand?

I am, as for the hand to hand part, I'm not fully proficient with it, but sure beats getting killed.

It bothers me that way too many people on those forums only see it as backup for when your sword breaks. I've made plenty of monk and fighter characters that dispatch people easily with H2H. Hand to hand is supposed to be played with finesse-weave in and out of your opponents attacks, make them stagger and start unleashing a wave of pain via your fists. You could even power attack at the higher levels and paralyze an enemy.

I'm down with a lot of the new features in the game. The spell casting looked pretty sick. Fire spells can be used as a flamethrower, frost can be used to slow down a group of enemies, and lightning magic is an antimage weapon!

I can't even describe how excited I am for this game. My social life is also going to disappear like magic, but who needs it?

I woke up early just to watch it, lol. It was 8 or 9am here when it came out, but when I went to watch it, the server crashed (too many people tried getting on the site at once, lol). Got on the Nexus and Bethsoft forums and people were posting like mad about it!

I watched it earlier today too. I checked both youtube and elderscrolls site. It didn't crash, but I noticed frame rate drops. Possibly from so many people trying to watch it or bad encoding.

If you mean Oblivion or Morrowind, kind of. Here's all you need to know about the game now- Info on Skyrim

Now there's dual wielding, shield bashing, realistic marksmanship (arrows can 1-hit kill someone if properly placed!), sprinting (which was never implemented in the previous games, just in case anyone thought it weird to mention), there are approximately 85 spells, versatile magic use (no more "your spell can only hit the target and go boom"), now you can use fire magic as a flamethrower or slow an enemy down with frost magic and other neat thing effects of the likes), sneak attacks are brutal and have their own special animations, and there's a new "dragon shout" feature meant to compliment the spells and abilities in game. Dragon shouts are pretty powerful and let you do things such as teleporting, slow down time, or summon a dragon to fight with you (those are the ones that I currently know of).
