Are you asking us to provide you the means which breaches the DMCA on a public forum which has rules which does not tolerate the means or end results from dissemination dothack media?

Digital Millennium Copyright Act wrote:The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is a United States copyright law that implements two 1996 treaties of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). It criminalizes production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures (commonly known as digital rights management or DRM) that control access to copyrighted works.
dothackers rules wrote:No illegal intellectual property linking or "hinting" (MP3s, ANY illegal .hack media (you will be humiliated if you link to illegal .hack media), copyrighted media, etc). You're asking for a software that'll teach you how to hack the game (translate the text -> change the text -> access the game to modify the text -> access and alter the game coding, even if just for text -> hack the game), which is illegal even if it's a personal project that you keep to yourself. Yeah, even ROM hacks or patch translations are illegal, if they don't have authorization from the game companies to do so...but just as "illegal" as subbing japanese anime episodes and upload them, or as simply downloading music while you don't own the original copies. The illegal things that nearly everyone with internet does from their own couch at home with the biggest punishment being their material removed from the internet...or a warning to stop doing it.

Anyways, sorry, we can't help you with that. We can't tell you of a software of any kind of means that'll allow you to modify the game like that D: Not like i know of any either way. lol

I see complaints but no solutions. As stated no one at the forum can give you the software. The reason coldbird isn't mentioned is just related to forum policy. Find a way to open data bin file, you can browse the text through there. I don't think moderators care if your looking at the data but how legal the issue is depends on what you with the information. If your still unsure, just create a story summary from what you see in the game... You did say you knew though. (I don't know how in order the post was but if it does violate something please modify the illegal portions. I'm not searching for a ban but just explaining rules seemed like a waste.)

Well, I know of a few programs that can translate Japanese text live, but they don't work with emulators, the game has to be a computer program that you can access in the process list.
