OC Thread! (Post your characters here!)
Heya! I'm not too sure if this is allowed, but I noticed that there's no official thread that acts as a sort of index for all OC's.
So, if it's allowed, feel free to post your OC profiles here! Be they .Hack or otherwise, I'd love to see some character ideas and how people portray them in RP! (Also, it may also be used as a repository for profiles e.g. linking to this thread where your post is, to save writing the whole thing out.)
For a skeleton, please include this basic information.
Series: (The series your OC is from.)
Name: (Self-explanatory.)
Age: (Self-explanatory.)
Appearance: (A physical appearance for your character.)
Personality: (Your character's personality.)
Biography: (A short - or long - biography of your character. Who they are, why they do what they do, what drives them etc.)
For series-specific stuff, please include anything you see fit. For example, characters in .Hack//G.U. might want to include Job, Equipment, Skills, Guild Affiliation, Level and so forth.
I'd also like to see some people giving feedback, helping new RP's (or even old ones) develop their characters further, making them deeper and more dynamic!
Moderators, if this is the wrong place to put this, please feel free to delete it. Otherwise, keep it here!
I look forward to seeing your profiles, guys! I'll post some of mine up later on!

Lykala
Series: .Hack//G.U. (.Hack//SEEKERS)
Name: Lykala
Age in First Appearance: 17
Job: Adept Rogue
Job Choices: Steam Gunner (3), Twin Blade (1)
Guild Affiliation: Canard
Appearance: In Lykala's first form, his appearance is heavily geared towards a ranged approach. Light leather armour pads his gloves and boots, and his left glove is plated by metal guards that stretch up the forearm. A long white travelling coat drapes his slight frame, hiding a black shirt and a heavy belt. His trousers are also white, and tuck into the dark boots. He wields his Bayonet in his left hand. His skin is pale, adorned with soft blue Wave tattoos that are hidden by his equipment. His hair is long, brown, tied back into an unruly ponytail, and streaked by deep blue.
Following his Job Extension, Lykala's equipment evens out. The coat splits, becoming a jacket and a tasset adorned by blue Wave symbols. The sleeves of the jacket are rolled back, and the gauntlets are more heavily armoured. He also gains a pair of Steampunk-esque goggles, that he wears as a neck accessory and never wears; according to him, they make him look 'like a loon'.
Personality: Lykala is of a nervous disposition, for the most part. Fuelled by insecurities and feeligns of social inadequecy in real life, this bleeds through into Lykala's personality when dealing with strangers. Further, he is very slow to trust those he does not know - his encounters with PK's have been frequent and brutal, leading him to create an emotional barrier that only a few are allowed behind. When in a party with his friends, he is the tactical mind behind any tough battle; with a thorough knowledge of classes and timings, his quick-thinking and evolving strategies have seen his parties through many tough battles. Sadly, being a Steam Gunner (and an Adept Rogue) he often lacks the strength to dish out any major damage, especially at his current level.
Biography: A college student studying Literature, Lykala's first brush with The World was when his tutor - Haruka Mizuhara - introduced him to the Epitaph of Twilight. Engrossed by the fragments, she suggested he try out 'The World R:2', a suggestion he gladly accepted. There, he found himself lost in the lore of the game, and whilst waiting for it to install, studied it until he could recount every major event.
His first experience in The World, however, was not a pleasant one. Beguiled into being shown the ropes Lykala was quickly the victim of a PK group. Humiliated, he returned to the Root Town and considered logging out, were it not for a combination of his teacher's words and a chance encounter with an Edge Punisher, Glacies. After some persuasion, the two eventually went out for a proper tutorial. Lykala found himself enjoying this new experience, and Glacies became his fast friend. After encountering Kalma and hearing his tales of the Xth Form, Lykala agreed to join - though not as an official member. His official membership lies with Canard, after a brief meeting with one of the officers there, Atoli. She showed him the possibilities of enjoying The World by appreciating the beauty around him, and in doing so sparked his passion for the lore once more. He enjoys visiting special areas with her, including her 132 favorites.

When you make a Character for an role play that is Original. In this case, he or she means in the context of a pre-made world. Most often OC refers to an original world, whether it be a role play or a novel.

It means Original Character. Like you know a character you made up. Don't feel bad I didn't know what one was either until I started playing Gaia. Also most people don't have a certain one oc that they use here. I think most of use just make them up on the spot when an RP appears that we want to join. I think using the same character for every roleplay someone posts is a little...merr......

Re: OC Thread! (Post your characters here!)
Yep! That's pretty much the gist of it! I've seen a lot of OC's out and about, so I decided to make a thread to see what they were like as a whole, without having to trawl through forum after forum.
P.S. I'm a 'he'.
P.S.S. To shugo_lover: Yeah, I know how you feel, but as time's gone by I've found that I have particular OC's that I can carry through into multiple RP's without having to change all that much - maybe just some Thread-specific tweaks. From playing Table-top Roleplays, I've found that whilst names and that are different, a lot of people stick to an Archetype that they know they're comfortable with and can roleplay effectively. That archetype becomes their character, so to speak.
For example, Lykala is a name that I've used in many Roleplays, and his archetype only changes slightly with each roleplay. You could say that he's evolved as I've gained experience whilst roleplaying as him.

Re: OC Thread! (Post your characters here!)
On the subject of reusing names, I pretty much make a new character for every rp, although I have reused a couple. Kale Roseless, most notably, his first incarnation was as an elven fighter/thief for advanced D&D 2nd edition. I've yet to make an exalted version of him, but if I ever get to be an exalted player again I'll likely make him...aw heck, now I have to make him, even if all he'll ever be is an npc. He's also been a gun toting doctor, I'm not really sure how that made sense at the time, but it did, however I like the ninja 3.5 version better. And the only other name I can recall reusing is Cain Alexander, he was my first exalted character. A spearman/warlord, or at least that was the idea. Sadly that campaign didn't last long enough for him to mature and become very good at either. And the second time he was a fail earthbender but a good spearman and developed into a great berserker who through use of a medallion could turn into a dragon, the berserker and dragon bits were not my idea but he rocked at those two things so if I ever remake him again he's going to be a berserker or I'll at least name a dragon npc after him.
I've also played a couple of halflings, I love those little guys, a paladin and a storm sorcerer, Kirith Krusha and Vance Stormrider. Although I've had no good opportunity to user her yet, I've got a concept for an elven barbarian, Skadi Cruentes-Nox, and I've made an elven linguist/lawyer/alchemist, Gray, for a pathfinder game that may or may not ever get off the ground. And one of my current tabletop characters is a pyromancer named Kylar. I don't know what it is about him, or perhaps it's a lack of things, such as a last name, but I just don't care for him much. Even my undying love for fire is having difficulty keeping my interest.
As for specific archetypes this actually came up in conversation earlier today and while my friends placed me as primarily spellcaster. I thought I only played them infrequently, but then again casters can be a bit complex, what with all of the spells, so most people don't want to deal with it, so I guess that's why I've often played one, but my preferred archetype has always been the thief.
And after saying all of that, for .hack// roleplays I usually play a Crim knockoff. If any of those things strike you as particularly interesting I can go into more detail.

Re: OC Thread! (Post your characters here!)
Well, considering how this is a .Hack forum, let's hear about your .Hack OC first. The others sound interesting, too!
Re: OC Thread! (Post your characters here!)
Alright, here's the one I'm using for Tack's rp.
Series: .hack//Sign (.hack//BeYoND)
--Offline--
Name: Godfrey Reginold
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Occupation: Financial Adviser
Bio: Godfrey led a fairly normal life, he worked for CCcorp. for a time as a sys. admin, Cobalt Knight, for The World, but they let him go shortly after the Twilight Incident. After that he went from job to job for a time until he hit on his current occupation.
--Online--
Name: Kas
Class: Long Arm
App: http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs49/f/2009/ ... keiiii.jpg
Bio: Created shortly after the Cobalt Knights were disbanded. Kas mostly sits on the bridge of Mac Anu, while Godfrey works on his employers financials. He just enjoys the chatter of The World. When he does leave Mac Anu, it's usually to wander The World as an explorer, seeking to find what changes CCcorp. has made since he left their employment. He tries to help newbies establish themselves, but there haven't been too many of late.
Personality: Typically cheerful and supportive. He's run into his fair share of pks, but he doesn't care about that. How they play is their business after all, he just doesn't like it when they pick on the more inexperienced players.

That's a pretty interesting backstory! I've never considered using an ex-employee kind of plan for my characters, so to see how other people like to Roleplay is an interesting experience. The contrast between bog-standard Financial Adviser and a helpful, albeit indifferent tutor is interesting, too.

Re: OC Thread! (Post your characters here!)
I guess I could use my character Data. She has two incarnations XD I was running out of name ideas and decided to use the name again.
The first Data
.hack//Dust Skull of Ra (Kitexx's Rp)
Name: Natoli
username: Data
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Class: TwinBlade
Race: Human
Appearance:
Bio: After only been playing the game for a few months, she stumbled across one of the bugs affecting the systems. She just shrugged it off as thinking of it as a event or something of the sort. Until stranger things started happening.
The 2nd Data
.hack//BeYoNd (Tacks's Rp)
--Offline--
Name: Anna
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Occupation: Works in a flower shop
Bio: She only recently graduated and is having a hard time with collage and finding jobs.
--Online--
Name: Data
Class: Long Arm
App:
Bio: Has only just been introduced to The World. Her friend had moved away and given up the world. She gave her, her player character that was simply name 'Data' and didn't have much of an anything. She always wondered why she picked such a plain name for her character and why it was so low a level. She looked as though she had played 'The World' offten enough.

These profiles are really quite awesome. I'd love to see the characters in action, but I'm too busy with college and my other work to thumb through forums. Maybe some time in the holidays!

Re: OC Thread! (Post your characters here!)
Well, I might as well post one of my more recent OCs;
Series: Battle Network; Drei-punkt-Fünf (A fanfic I recently started writing.)
Navi: *N.K.*
Operator: Unknown
Programs installed:
Chip Folder: The UndKngB program prevents the use of a chip folder, though it's not as though this navi actually needs one..
Appearance: (look at my avi and my sig. He's in both of them)
Personality: One could describe his personality as apathetic, others could describe it as being one of incredible patience. The truth is that his 'personality' is what you make of it. Being a navi independent of an operator - especially seeing as his situational issue prevents him from communicating with others - it is hard to say whether he even has a personality at all. Some may even go on to question whether it was something he abandoned in order to stomach his present situation, others wonder if he even had a personality to begin with. What is known about him is that he doesn't seem to care about something as trivial and problematic as having a personality.
Biography: "...After the events of Battle Network 3, The title of Underking went from the now deceased Megaman V2 back to the original holder of said title; Serenade. Bass had also taken a path of 'improvement' after BN3, fusing himself with Gospel in order to heal the wounds he had sustained after being consumed and scrapped by 'Alpha' the internet's prototype. These two now fought each other for the sake of the title of 'Underking', to see who would govern the now becalmed sector of the web known as the 'Undernet'. Needless to say, Bass was defeated, and forced to retreat yet again in order to try and regain his lost powers. However, this was far from the end of Serenade's trials and tribulations, for just around the corner, a new threat was slowly developing...
...This new threat was a programmer named 'Johan Weiss', the creator of an independent navi based off of the concepts that he had acquired relating to the bugged and ranked navis used by undernet operators. Of course, at first, the navi that had been created was rather lackluster, only differing from the rest in terms of outward appearance, yet this was only true for a few weeks; After Bass was finally cast out by Serenade, he left behind a remnant of a copied version of the Gigafreeze program, one of the few ultimate programs existent within the web itself. After retrieving this using the independent navi, Johan Weiss reworked it, recreated it, and then installed it into his navi; simply by doing this, the result was staggering. Johan realised that he had created something, abnormal...
...After a few more weeks of trial and error - as well as combat and test-fighting - Johan managed to reverse engineer the Gigafreeze program, then use it's base coding to create several even more destructive programs; and with each new creation, his independent navi became more and more sombre, less and less enthusiastic, and ever more fearsome. Eventually, the point was reached where the navi no longer had enough space for customization via programming; and for good reason too. Were it able to have but one more program added to it's core, a pure monster would have been created. Johan realized this, and deciding that his creation was too powerful to destroy, and too precious to him to lose, he set it loose upon the cyberworld, and let it run rampant throughout the undernet. This event would later be known as 'UnderGeddon'...
...Once the Undernet was in ruins, and Serenade was slain, The independent Navi took the title of Underking, and then sealed itself within the core of the Undernet; however, this core was by now seen as unstable, unsafe, and outdated. It was scrapped, and put into a highly secured storage space, then labelled as junk data. The following month after this, Undernet V2 was up and running, and no-one knew the difference aside from the ranked navis, who by now couldn't care less that their system was gone. And yet, no-one remembered 'UnderGeddon', or the perpetrator behind it, despite the countless numbers of people involved in it... evidently most saw it as a game - a new challenge for the underdwellers to crush beneath their feet, and if they had not thought as such, it is very likely that the results wouldn't have been so easy to cover up...
...And what of the Undernet V1, along with the ranking system? and the underking? They now exist within a separate realm, governed by the sole remaining inhabitant therein; the one who now waits for a being to release him from the bonds that ensnare him, holding him in the cell that he made for himself..."
~ Extract from 'CL - Vol #2; The history of 'UnderGeddon'.'
I feel glad to have taken that off of my shoulders...
Series: Battle Network; Drei-punkt-Fünf (A fanfic I recently started writing.)
Navi: *N.K.*
Operator: Unknown
Programs installed:
- Gigfrz - Giga Freeze; An 'ultimate' program. When used at the right moment, it is capable of permanently immobilizing the toughest foe, and freezing any artificial intelligence in existence. It's creator is yet to be found.
- Hntr - Hunter; A program that allows the user to perfectly blend into their surroundings. It increases attack speed and power by double when the wielder is placed in a tough situation.
- UndKngB - UnderKing Beta; An 'ultimate' program. When activated, the user destroys all non-giga class battle chips in the foe's usable chip slots. If the foe has no giga chips, they become immobilized.
- SfeGrd - SafeGuard; An 'ultimate' program that grants the user a passive 'drkaura'. This aura regenerates periodically after being removed.
- BrstBlst - Burst Blast; An 'ultimate' program that can only be used when near death. The user gathers up all remaining energy into their hand, then releases it in the form of a large energy wave. The element of the wave depends on the colour of the user's aura/ barrier.

Wow~ Sounds pretty powerful. What kind of role does he play? Antagonist? Protagonist? Catalyst?

He doesn't really have a set 'role' in the storyline. In effect, he is the reason for the storyline's existence, and his actions determine what path the storyline follows.Chaosbahamut123 wrote:Wow~ Sounds pretty powerful. What kind of role does he play? Antagonist? Protagonist? Catalyst?
Put in another way; Because he controls how the story progresses, he is neither an anti-hero or a protagonist, or even an antagonist; he is simply acting of his own free will towards an unkown end. How people wish to interpret his possible role is entirley up to them.
