Spice and Wolf

Post by zerokoolpsx »

Something original I haven't seen in a while and it got me hooked damnit. Just wondered if anyone else has seen it? It actually shows the progression of a subtle relationship instead of being forced. I enjoy the comedic banter between the two. It's not an action packed roller coaster ride, it's a nice change of pace.

I particularly like the actual trade-based story behind it. It's incredibly informative in terms of how to succeed in trade... or at least how you could succeed if you were in the 14th/15th centuary >.>

I thoroughly enjoyed it, I just had a hard time understanding the economics talk at times...

I'm smiling. The show's emphasis on the mercantile sector of society is a refreshing departure. Not that watching fantasy heroes go around slaying ogres and taking their vorpal blades isn't fun, mind you. It's just that there is another story to be told in this alternate world, and Spice & Wolf does a good job of telling it. Also, FUNimation's trailer has left me with high hopes for a good dub.

I was just glad to see a show come out that wasn't about high schoolers or characters with hidden powers or vampires.

It was an excellent show.

I'll admit that a series without them is refreshing, but c'mon, what's not to like? Magical high schoolers? Good. Vampires? GOOD, at least the real kind. ^^

It's just that idea has been used so many times over and over again. I know they're targeting that audience but how many times can you talk about high schoolers who are espers, time travelers, aliens, sleeping god, shinigamis, martial art experts, reincarnations, people with abilities or mystical pets, vampires, zombies, demons or half demons, and werewolves. Maybe that's why I get "put off" when I start watching a new anime and it begins in a typical high school setting.

Why can't they make a High School anime where the main character is a sociopath that goes around killing his classmates? And he has to look like a totally innocent little bishonen shota boy during the day, but get this crazed look in his eye at night! Slashing up people who pick on him, rape/murdering girls that turn down his confessions, trapping the teachers in places and leaving them there to die.

We definitely need one of those to give us an alternative to all these tsundere moeblob anime's. And I really wouldn't want the kid to get caught, I'd want the anime to end with him looking back after graduating top of his class (after killing the competition) and smile the evilest grin! Then suddenly cut to black with an evil laugh.

Death Note comes close, but he doesn't kill his classmates or trap his teachers and obviously  gets caught and dies!

In other words the only thing the 2 series would have in common is the crazed look in the main character's eye?... I've seen DN, and while I liked it for a bit, once it was over I realized I didn't actually enjoy the whole thing.

I started watching the English Dubbed Spice and Wolf. Its not bad, the voices seem to fit the characters, the personalities fit pretty well too. I guess the only thing that could make it flop is a bad storyline, and I'm hoping that doesn't happen.

I have seen the first season of spice and wolf. I loved it I am hoping the second one becomes dubbed soon but if not I will eventually watch it subbed. Also I agree they do need a psychopath anime character in alot of these school setting anime series.^_^

Not Psychopath, Sociopath. The difference isn't very subtle. Psychopaths are actually insane. Sociopaths are sane, they're driven to kill and find a reason to do so.

I might be bringing back the dead to just say how awesome this series is, but hell I love this series so much. I've seen all of the anime so far, and I've read all of the Novels that have been released in america so far (3 of 16). Simply put Isuna Hasekura is an amazing author (and the people who made the anime are amazing as well). The Idea of combining a somewhat romantic story with economics is so unique that it puts to shame a lot of the popular stories that are written these days. I can't wait to read all of the novels, but unfortunately they are released every six months (the 4th novel will be released in June and the 5th novel in December). Oh well I at least have other books I can read until then.

I just pulled it up again only to find our that the 2nd season is already dubbed to episode 5!

The problem with that is, I watched it and now I'm stuck at a "heart breaker" moment. When the heck is the next episode coming!!!!

EDIT: sorry read that as "subbed"

If i'm not mistaken the entire 2nd season of Spice and Wolf has been sitting on my computer for a few months... in fact I think it aired in 2009 or 2010.
