Dead? He never died. That's more of an inference than anything. The way it ended, and you should be more wary of spoiler tagging your stuff, please, leaves it open for Bungie to revive the game/series without much retconing.

It's not like a new campaign would HAVE to follow the chief. This caught my interest and hearing they're making a whole new campaign sounds awesome. I'll definitely buy it whenever it comes out if that's the case.

all i know is that the combat is gonna be totally diffrent (or so they say) and that it takes place while MC is in space after they attack the place in the beginning of #2

and that I'm getting this + Halo Wars when they come out...

If you wanna know what the story is about, keep reading. If ya don't, there's a warning

The story puts you in the place of a lone ODST soldier only know as "The Rookie" whose squadron was launched at the time that the Prophet of Truth jumped into hyperspace, destroying most of the HEV pods. The Rookie wakes up 12 hours later in the ruins of New Mombassa. You have to look your your squad mates through the story line. You have to find certain objects that flashback you to your squad mate and as confusing as it is, you play as your squad mate and you somehow figure out what happened. For example, one of your squad mates was sniper. You find his sniper, and you flashback, so you play as your lost squad mate. The campaign is suppose to be about5 hours long.

I wish I had the timeline that shows how the story works. Since I can't find it, I'll try to recreate it.

Well you're most likely not playing as Spartans or Elites so I just figured anyways. It probably will be the same or maybe not. =)

As far as the game modes and what not, hopefully they'll add some more stuff.

Yeah pretty much. and the online is the same thing, it won't change.

Ok. I'll go into more detail.

Halo 3: ODST is an expansion pack for Halo 3. It will come in it's own disk and case. They disk will include the campaign where you play an a ODST only known as "The Rookie". Multiplayer will be exactly the same, with the exception of the Mythic Map Pack that comes with the game and 3 other maps. Forge and Theater will also be there.
