Agh so annoying!

I'm constantly having trouble always having to hit back attacks like Elegant Orb and Mental Vampirism in the Avatar Battle Simulation Program. I keep trying to hit them back but they still damage me.
Can anyone show me a way to hit them back?

I can't either, unless I'm lucky. So what I do is avoid Elegant Orb and take the damage from Mental Vampyrism, but when Corbenik the 2nd does his Celestial whatever attack and when I'm dodging the rays I shoot at him then to stun him, and I can take good damage on him, without having to rely on MV.

dont try to him them when they are Too close hit them when they are about 30 meters away from you (estimate)

Also, when the orb is close to you, do not MASH the attack button, simply time it out so your 2nd swing starts slightly after your first finishes, and third after second.. etc.

If you do them too fast, the ball will break through and you won't hit it back, but if you slow down just enough- it will hit back every time.

I actually get sorta close to Corbenik when hes about to use the Vampirism skill...the skill is fast..so once you see a glimpse of the "slash[x]" sign above the energy ball, start hacking away....I've never missed like that. Which one was the elegant orb? the one with lots of small circular orbs flying towards you or the one coming from above?

Oh...its similar to Corbenik's Vampirism skill so I guess the tactic would still work. But I didn't find that part annoying...the part that I hated most was when you have to data drain him when those stupid flying orbs are constantly following you..

I'm not sure how to describe the timing, but I just button mashed X as soon as the ball came close enough.
But-
As I did so, I pulled backwards on the joystick... and that seemed to work fine every time.
