AI Harald's Reasoning<SPOILERS>

This is something I don't get...Cubia was said to be something created by AI Harald as an equalizer to the Key of the Twilight. Why would he create such a threat to the system, when he created Aura...something far more powerful and meant for peaceful actions within the World and Internet? I know he only wanted to see his daughter alive and well, but I didn't take him for being reckless like that. If Cubia had been left unchecked, he could have very well crashed the entire Internet. So what was AI Harald's reasoning for doing something like that and not thinking of the consequences? Certainly, he had to have some sort of morals. The only AI I could see doing this would be Morganna, and she's not entirely together at the moment.

Because I'm willing to bet you are refering to the Lininality bonus disk that comes with .Hack//Quartine of the old game. If thats the case I understand your confusion. The reason why there is conflicting stories is that the bonus disk was done by a different company. Most of what was said was accurate to the real story, but the section concerning Cubia is not accurate. Not sure why it ended up like that, but it is the one and only example of conflicting sources I've seen in the .hack// series. The explanation that was presented to me by AT is as follow: In //Infection, when Skeith was destroyed by Kite's bracalet it released all the data that Skeith had been collecting for the Ultimate AI. No, he's referring to .hack//Truth, an 100% canon source that says that Harald created Cubia.

That's the basic idea behind it. The idea is that Cubia came back when CC Corp. tried to forcfully restore Aura as the Ultimate AI. Hence Cubia/AIDA is the anti-existence of the avatars.

While I did present that theory, it's outdated and wrong now due to the revelation of new information.

To clarify, Cubia exists to counter players who get the Key of the Twilight, such as Kite and Haseo. However, as we all know, Harald has piss-poor luck and programming reliable AI's. I mean, look at Morganna. Why wouldn't Cubia go bullsh*t insane, too? After all, we've seen Cubia destroy Harald AI's in order to get to Kite, so we can doubt the integrity of Cubia's programming if it will attack it's creator.

It's my personal opinion that Cubia DOES follow his programming without rebellion, unlike Morganna, Harald oversaw a bunch of integrity flaws, so Cubia, in it's beastlike intellect, will just go on a mindless wave of destroying everything in it's path instead of precisely attacking a threat without regards to anything except Aura.

Then again, Harald was in grief when he created Cubia, Za Warudo, etcetera, so the idea of the safety of other humans probably didn't even cross his mind. Aura seems to be the only one in her "family" who gives a damn about the welfare of other people.

Yes, I am referring to .hack//Truth (thanks for clarifying AT). I found it kind of strange that Harald would do that...but I guess seven years in the Internet having your consciousness being constantly moved back and forth can do that. Kite had a bracelet, but Haseo actually BECAME the Key of the Twilight, making Cubia much more dangerous which was why I was concerned about Harald's sanity nowadays. Who knows what he'll do next down the line if he can just create something like that? What if he went all Morganna like down the line and started hating everyone for some reason (poor childhood, forgetting Aura, etc.)...but that's another story, I suppose, for another .hack.

Harald's been a little coo-koo since the beginning. Hell, his obsession with Emma was what started it all (and Emma dint even like him...)

Harald doesn't have that excuse, he made Cubia before he uploaded his mind as an AI.

I don't think Harald has that kind of power anymore after all the abuse he took in the series. It's apparent that opening the Forest of Pain is the extent of his power.

The Azure Knights are actually largely more intelligent in terms of their exact goals. Everytime Haseo and Azure Kite fought, it was Haseo being a moron. The Data Drain was just a happy accident, since it wasn't even aimed for Haseo. Though, considering the impact it had, it's not exactly a bad thing.

BTW, I noticed Morganna never actually went against her programming. Atleast, during SIGN. She just compromised it in the best possible way . She can't cease existing if Aura's never born, now can she? >>

Azure Kite was aiming for Ovan. Haseo was just caught in the crossfire. And Aura isn't lazy. She wanted to make the Azure Knights better but didn't have the time.

She's not helping Aura's growth. She may not be going against the letter of her programming, but she's going against it's spirit.

AK still shot for Ovan and ignored the fact that he couldn't even harm him if he hits Haseo instead.
