well, its a hard oath to keep, but if you're a video game addict like me, i don't care if i get fired or hurt to uphold it.
up until now, i had been using cheat codes and stuff, but yesterday, i tossed my cheat sheets in the shredder and parted ways with them for the good of the world of gaming.

well, the specifics are...
the specifics are that you must BUY the anticipated game(s) but if you play them for a full week, you can either a) sell them or b) return them *depending on the return policies at the store you go to*

Re: haha
Maybe you'll start caring when you enter the real world, and your 5 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year oath is causing you to go into academic probation once you hit college. Then, you lose your financial aid, because your GPA starts getting too low, because you're playing video games when you're not in class. Then, you have to withdraw from college, because you can't come up with any student loans, because you don't have financial aid anymore. Then, you drop out of college. Then, you have bills and loans stacked up, which you'll have to start paying in six months, for the college out of which you failed, because you spent too much time playing video games. Then, you'll be working 40+ hours a week of slave labor to pay back the college loans that never served their purpose.Voshra wrote:well, its a hard oath to keep, but if you're a video game addict like me, i don't care if i get fired or hurt to uphold it.
Once you pay all that off, by, say, age 30 or so, you can try to start your life again by working little above minimum wage jobs. BUT WAIT! You skipped work to buy that much anticipated video game, so you get canned. Well, there's always McDonald's. At least you stuck to your oath, though!

And don't even think about online gaming. There's no way you're getting cable of Fiber Optics with that kind of salary. It's not a very good oath and it really mis-characterizes the gaming community. Being a gamer does not mean obsessing over games to the point where you have no life, no education, and no job.

1. I HAVE entered the real world, and yes, its a pain in the ass, i work part time 20 hours a week sometimes 25 and still manage to get by with the 5 hours a day of playing, PLUS 2 hours of "special" school (for my "anger issues" not my "dumbness")
2. hehe....thats where my disabilty check saves the day (i start getting them when i move out) and theres ALWAYS under the table work for spare cash to buy fun stuff with, and also, my mom's been paying into my UNIVERSITY fund since i was 3 months old so i'm set for that too.
3. of course ppl have to pay back their student loans, THAT HAPPENS EVEN IF YOU DO WORK HARD (almost always in this province because of the high prices of everything and thats why i plan to move somewhere cheaper)
4. since i DID go to university (in 3 years from now) i WONT be working a minimum wage job, and i won't need to skip work since i'll simply use some of my vacation time!
AND LASTLY:
5. you DO realize that this "oath" ISNT legally binding (hey, i can make it look as offical as i damn want ok?) never mind the fact that you blew the whole damn bit of fun that was going on in this topic out of the water, and as well, i don't come on this site to be attacked by a bloody e-thug.
GOOD DAY SIR.

1. i specifically made this oath for VIDEO GAMES, NOT PC GAMES!
2. who knows what kind of salary i'll be making down the road, but i WILL feed my video gaming ways as much as i damn well please
3. the oath was supposed to be FUN, just like the last person i dealt with, you blew any fun out of this topic just because you wanted to be all mighty and mature, well, that WOULD BE good in a PROFESSIONAL situation, it DOESNT NEED TO BE GOING ON A FUN VIDEO GAMING MESSAGE BOARD!
4. ***I*** DO NOT DEMAND you follow these standards, you can do whatever the hell you want, and ***I*** can obess over my love for video games as much as i damn please and you can't do nothing about my ways from where you stand.
GOOD DAY TO YOU TOO SIR.
Skye(Voshra)
its a video game ADDICTS oath, yes, and yes, i obess over many things, but technology in general is not a hobby, it's part of this world and always will be, computers are almost in every home or public places all over Canada and United States.hawthorneluke wrote:its not?
back to the drawing board, once again :/
sounds more like an mentalists obsession oath to me
we can't just "ditch" the thing that has saved lives, made our lives easier, and create some of our wildest dreams.
video gaming is a passion to me, and will always be.
i do admit that this oath is a bit too obessive for some, but it isnt neccessarily meant to be taken srsly, it was a way to show the obession in todays gaming culture that has covered the entire world with gamers and fans. and yes, i DO uphold SOME of these rules on this oath, maybe not all of them, but that doesnt make me anymore or less of a fan and addict to the things called "video games".
