xenogears is chapter 5. The xenosaga series is chapter 1 of the same story but a (highly) edited revised version of that story. Due to Gears being Square and Saga being Namco they cant be literally the same story though to a point theyre intended to be.

gears' project (perfect work) chapter 1 is the the era of human expansion, the discovery of Zohar, and the creation of Deus (then chapter 2 is the crash of the eldridge and the birth of cain, miang, the gazel, abel and elly, chapter 3 is kim's story and emeralda's birth, chapter 4 lacan, krelian and sofia)

saga's project is a new project with also 6 chapters, that are

XS2 [1,2,3, Shion's Arc]
XS3
XS4
XS5 (not Xenogears eh) [4,5,6, chaos and Kosmos' arc]
XS6

these were the plans of all the Takahashi's Xenosaga Project, but since XS3 didn't sell so much even in Japan the project failed =_=

for Haseo(J-man)2.0: because the creator of both the titles is the same person, Tetsuya Takahashi.

unfortunately, xeno is 95% dead >_> (that 5% is a new hope born weeks ago when monolith soft became under Nintendo)

Why did you guys hate Xenosaga so much >_>; Have you ever play Vol 2 and 3 ? I played Xenogears, but the story has an almost same quality as Xenosaga vol 2 and 3 (Vol 1 sucks though)

It was supposed to be the fifth chapter but they cancelled the project. The story on vol 2 was good but the game sucked. Vol 1 and Vol 3 were the best ones

Vol 2 is not sucks. . But its freaking hard to play. .
I mean, the normal enemy is as hard as bosses >_>;

i thought vol 2 was easier to beat

Ummm, Nintendo bought over 90% of Xenosaga, so there is hope for another game. (I guess that the Nintendo Chairmen couldn't stand it ending at 3 like the rest of us)

The only boss in vol 2 that actualy killed me a number of times was...Patriarch Sergius and that was only because of his Area damage attack and that was because of Proto Ω's area attack as well.

Vol 1 was great, Vol 2 looked like it sucked until I replayed it almost a year after I bought it and beat it in one sitting, it was not that hard if you learned how to break and air and all that stuff. Three was my favourite even though you had to sit and click through all the dialouge.

Overall, for the storyline purpose, i think vol 2 & 3 were great and vol 1 isn't that bad...
as for the battle system, vol 2 ROCKS (vol 3's battle system is somewhat looks like FF Ripoff to me )

The first one was boring, the second one was easy, and the third one was fun, but annoying with all the talking.

Wait I'm confused, was there supposed to be more after Xenosaga III?

Yeah it was but after they screwed up on the second one the game hasn't been selling well ever since so Bamco pulled the plugs on the project. D:
