If you don't throw your PSP around and take care of it like the piece of expensive electornical equipment it is, than screen-scratching shouldn't be a problem. If you're the kind of person who has a hard time doing that, than you should put aside a couple dollars to get a protector. Most of the PSP accessories aren't very expensive. I bought a case that was only about $10. Unless you get something excessively fancy, you shouldn't have to pay more than that to get any PSP accessory. The most expensive thing is additional memory, but of course, that's completely optional and unneeded.
I think the anti-Sony and anti-PlayStation Nintendo fanbase has really overly-emphasized and exaggerrated the minor flaws of the PSP while not looking at the big picture and how much the many options and capabilities of the system outweigh the flaws.

Well, I think you should buy one first before you go judging it on rumors and myths. Again, I've had mine since launch and I haven't had any problems with it at all. As for the "dropping it kills it thing." That's not even close to true. I've dropped mine several times and it's perfectly fine.

So please get a clue as to what you're talking about before you start making subjective comments from your Nintendo bias.
O ya No dead pixels I bet.

Nope. This was WAAAAY before I bought the case.

Alright, now I'm absolutely positive you're completely ignorant of this system and are only following rumors. The dead pixel thing happened to a FRACTION of the systems and you're throwing that out as a fault for the WHOLE of them? Wow. Seriously man, actually get one before you condemn them.

Than did you ever think to send it back to Sony and get a new one? If you're having problems with it, they'll gladly send you another one if you send your messed up one to them.

Well, I'm tired of argueing about this. If you aren't willing to try and get a new one, than don't complain because you don't want to "deal with it" or it was "too hard." Replacing something I spent $200+ is worth an hour of my time to be honest. And to expect a major corporation, who deals with millions of people each day, to deal with you with absolute perfection is simply arrogant. Do you have any idea what it takes to run a company like Sony or even what it takes to run Tech Support for Sony? I really, really doubt it.
To be honest, it really doesn't matter what you think anyways. The sales speak for themselves.

You wana know why I won't send it back? Evan thoe I alredy said it Ill say it agian
1. I have to pay 80$ To get a new one from sony (if I sent in old one)
2. Because they said the new one would still have a great chance of haven dead pixels.
So.. Are you asking me to play Russian Roulete with money?

Oh how was i so naieve. Wait i wasnt. Seriously Nintendo is not the one true gaming system. In fact i dont think any company is the one true gaming company. You cant argue a point by saying that. Okay both the DS and PSP have flaws as does everything in this world. I on the other hand liked the PSP better because it appealed to me more. I love my Gameboy too.

Sony makes cameras and other tech
microsoft makes computers and stuff

well, like what's said before the speakers can 't go very loud..
but about nintendo being the only true gaming system...
maybe they're the only one who only creates game things... but i mean..
no offence i have respect for nintendo.. but the playstation crushed the cube... back to handhelds, i have had all gameboy systems except for micro
(and ds but that's not a gameboy) and i enjoyed it... but i feel more... attracted.. to the psp now..
