It seems they won't shut down the government, but they still shall be cutting things. 3.75 for gas in Houston is a lot, but it is going to increase.

What do you mean shutdown? I never saw or heard it being mentioned in the news.zaseo wrote:It seems they won't shut down the government, but they still shall be cutting things. 3.75 for gas in Houston is a lot, but it is going to increase.
I've also been confused about that too. Wheneevr I log into AOL there are news reports about it, but haven't seen anything anywhere else. Not really sure what's going on with it...but then again politics bore me so I never read the whole article.Kaori wrote:What do you mean shutdown? The Media is Liberally controlled. Of course you wouldn't see anything in the "actual" news (Fox, CNN, ABC etc.) The Government wants to keep it under wraps so that there isn't a panic. But then again there already is a panic... but they don't want the public to revolt so there going to keep most everything on the down-low.Hybrid wrote:I've also been confused about that too. I know for a fact you're not old enough to drive! Be glad you get free rides everywhere, they won't last forever.AZURE-KITE wrote:Except mine, and, did you heard that Obama said that in LatinAmerica we weren't fighting? that should just bring much japaneses americans and more of them here!, oh man...zaseo wrote:These prices are eating a hole in everyone's wallet. Actually, I've been thinking about going back to school so I can make something to solve this problem. Going back to steam engines would be a great idea at this point, but the problem is always the heat source. So I was considering going in for chemistry and eventually create a compound that could maintain a constant temperature somewhere between 130 and 200 degrees Fahrenheit. It could be used as the heating element, and that means people could get free fuel from their gutters!Smitts wrote:I mean gas is a natural resource, right?
Therefor we will eventually have less and less. The demand will rise and so will the prices since there will be a decrease in availability.

Well, electric cars still need to be charged, so the question is "how does your electric company make it?" and that only leads to a few options. Wind energy, water turbines, nuclear, coal, and solar. Wind being the cleanest still requires large amount of oil for lubrication. Solar takes up too much space for too little energy.Smitts wrote:Erranty wrote:Actually, I've been thinking about going back to school so I can make something to solve this problem. yeah, we definitely need a new source of energy for traveling.
They do have cars that run on stuff other than gas.
Electric cars and other stuff.
I don't know too much about it but they are out there.
If you do succeed make sure it can be affordable for the majority.
It is easy to not care when you aren't directly affected and being given money for gas. For a lot of people getting by pay check to pay check, the huge jump in gas prices hurts because employers don't - for the majority - give cost of life raises in the United States. Just one of many things that's wrong with our job industry.Kaori wrote:Why do you guys need to be so grim about this? Most filipino's dont even get bothered by stuff like this, we have a natural trait called "bahala na" which means so be it(not to be confused with hakuna matata) we just hope for the best and it usually does happen, cheer up guys always look on the bright side of life.
Dont worry you guys survived the great depression and you probably have a good chance for a better future.d5t wrote:It is easy to not care when you aren't directly affected and being given money for gas. Yeah, but during the great depression people talked to their neighbors, knew everyone! And that made surviving a community effort. I don't even know the names of the people who moved in behind me.Kaori wrote:Dont worry you guys survived the great depression and you probably have a good chance for a better future.
