I decided to try Sora's dungeon as soon as you could invite peole to your party in Outbreak. It was very fun, all the fights seemed like mini-boss fights! I think I gained somewhere around 6-7 levels, plus I got my hands on an awesome looking level 55 sword for Balmung.
Did anyone else try to beat Sora's dungeon near the start of the game?

Yeah. I actually tried to do it alone since that was the only option when I first got it, I got SO far... but I messed up and waited after the Balmung event to do it.
I could never figure out exactly WHY you get access to that at the beginning of Outbreak, when it's at Outbreak's maximum level. With that, it gives you access to the uber-rare weapons of each class, like Phoenix's Fire, Heh Heh Heh, Five Stars... those kind were meant to be gotten around the end, like in Infection and Mutation! I guess they figured Sora's dungeon would be too tough that we'd wait until near the end of Outbreak to do it. Hah, gimme a break, as soon as Balmung came it was a sinch.
Then again, maybe the creators wanted to give us a little twist... getting the uber-rare weapons near the beginning. But seriously, this dungeon level is practically higher than the final dungeon in Outbreak.

It seems kinda impossible to solo it with Kite. Sure, I suppose it's possible to kill the huge guys 1 vs 1, but those annoyingly fast magic using monsters that come in groups would destroy you, wouldn't they?
It did seem rather odd that you could go to such a high level dungeon from the start... It seemed so out of place that I misunderstood at first, I thought you'd be able to get Sora at level 70 from near the start of Outbreak.
Meh. I'll wait until I beat the game before I go back and get the best weapons for everyone. It's become normal for me to go weapon/armour hunting after I beat the final boss in each game, not right at the start.

Balmung comes at like level 65, so I suggest clearing it after completing the other mission. Your reward at the end is well worth it.Suikoden wrote:It seems kinda impossible to solo it with Kite. And those magic casters... they may be magic tolerant, but they're Earth element, so you could stand surrounded by a bunch of them and use an area-based Wood move, like Wildflower or Splinter Slash.
