Downfall of G4
I noticed a lot of complaining about G4 in the E3 discussion, and I thought that I might make a topic for it so that the E3 discussion wouldn't get locked.
Heh heh. ^_^;
I'd say that the fall began about the time G4 merged with TechTV. It was okay for a while there, but then they started adding all this non-technology related shows.
xEDITx:
I would like to add to those who do like G4: Please do reply and support, otherwise we have a mindless bashing of G4. But let's do keep this a discussion and not a war.

Yeah, when TechTV became G4/TechTV, they slowly started eliminating everything in TechTV's line-up (Leo, in particular, which pissed me off), replacing it all with G4 ****. They slowly weeded out everything TechTV, including the eventual removal of TechTV from the channel's title. :] Now, G4 is mostly boobs, half-naked women, street racing, crappy review shows with Tommy Talarico, a pointless "cheat code" show that exists just because of its host, Arena, which tries so hard to make people think watching other people play video games is fun, but fails, etc..
Video game network my arse.

G4, when I had it, broadcasted some good shows. X-Play was pretty good before they moved the co-host to a different, more pointless show. Cinimatech was pretty good, as well as the Icons show. I do agree, though, that a lot of the shows played aren't relevant to gaming or technology in the least and I think that their shows should be limitted only to technology, gaming, and anime related subjects. I only include anime because it plays such a huge role in video games today... I mean, come on, how many DBZ and Naruto games are there now?... On top of that, a large percentage of the young gaming fanbse is also part of the anime fanbase. Of course, I'd hope they'd restrict the shows to quality anime and not pointless, never-ending series with shallow storylines. I see enough of those on Toonami.

I hated Robot Wars! It was ok like the first three times of watching but it grew old real fast. My favorite shows on G4 are:
X-Play
Cinematech (+ and Cinematech Nocternal, becuase it showed good japanese games we'd never see normally)
Anime Unleashed (which from what i've seen they replaced with Happy Tree Freinds which i dislike becuase it always comes on when im eating)
I also remember AOTS's prediceser but i don't remember its name. all i remember was it was helpful but boring. And then there was Martin Sargent! OMG that guy had problems! if i remember thats where the intern cruelty started on G4.

lol i'm glad i'm not the only one that like Martin Sargeant. -.- though it does still give me the chills when i think about some of the weird stuff they did. Geez i wonder when they'll learn that the more they change the channel to have cars and sitcoms the less people watch. I mean seriously if they cut X-play i'd just stop watching it because the whole thing would just fall apart. i swear that show holds everything in place. Anime Unleashed is like gone now (which annoys me big time) and cinematech seems more interested in weird garbage now. I mean sure every once in a while you see a good episode but seriously they devoted a whole episode to Mist! I mean of all the games out there and they seem to think they're running out of material all of the sudden. They'll show one game and then right after words they'll show the exact same game and slap on (Japanese version) in the title.
I don't watch tv a lot, but i watched G4 to see E3 and found it thoroughly disappointing.
The "I-try-to-be-funny" puns weren't so funning and just tiring. Not to mention the game coverage can be only summed up as "sucky"
There is no emoticon to express the look i had on my face when i saw how bad it was.[/spoiler]

ok heres my 2 cents regarding G4:
when i first heard about the G4/Tech Tv merge, i thought to myself "whats G4?" in any case i gave it a shot when they started showing g4 programs. some didnt take long for me to find faults in them namely "judgment day" or as i like to call it "glorify anything xbox related and bash on anything else day". after a while i began to notice that they were taking many tech tv programs off the air which was kind of stupid because a lot of shows they decided to can were really good like "call for Help" and "tech live" and so forth. when it got to the point where you would practically get a total of 4 hours worth of tech Tv thats when you kinda realize that the network was going to hell. in this sense its kinda funny since now that its no longer called Tech Tv or even G4techtv anymore you notice that the whole network isnt about electronics or video games anymore, its like whats with all these race car based shows? isnt that what the speed channel is for? and whats up with putting the man show in the line-up? what does that have to do with anything the network was originally about? and then the idea of putting on star trek seemed like a lazy way to appease the so-called "nerdy(or rather the techno, gamer type people) fanbase. when it gets to this point it seems nothing more than a channel commited to mainstream, which really isnt all that great in my opinion.

I agree with you man. They are definetly getting to point where i won't be surprized if they friggin have a show where they just have the hosts kill each other in a game or something. oh wait thats basicly Arena! lol! not that Arena is bad its just not the best it can be. It looks sorta like its shot in a warehouse or something though. The Terror Of Death wrote:ok heres my 2 cents regarding G4:
