.hack Games Storyline?

Post by EnyaAthleas »

Alright, I've watched the .hack//Sign anime, and I've loved it. I read some .hack//Twilight manga, and I've decided to start watching that series as well. But I'm requesting if someone could give me a brief summary of what happens in the .hack games. I don't have a PS2, my brother does, but I only go to his house once a month or so. Just a paragraph or two on each of the quartets would be nice.
I'd just prefer to know what happens with Kite and them before jumping on ahead with Shugo and Rena. Yes, I don't skip chapters when reading books. *Nod nod*

Thanks in advance, if anyone bothers with this >__>

infection is hello your friend orca has now been data drained by skeith. kite should want and goes for rvenge against skeith.

mutation is where you find out that there are more than just skeith who you have to fight. you then have to fight them. you also meet lios, a sys admin, who is a real pig head.

outbreak is where it hit's the fan! infection rates rise, chaos in real life happen's, and mia act's drunk, or high.

quarentine is where it all come's to a head. your freind's help you out, you discover the truth about mia and all sort's of stuff.

this is the most basic outline that you will get. i'm too brain fried to give a good propper answer at the moment.

to further elaborate....

in Infection, Kite begins playing the World for the first time as a newbie. All goes well and good at first, but then they see Skeith (the monster from the last episode of Sign) chasing Aura. Orca, Kite's friend, intereferes and gets put into a coma, along with several other people. (Unlike Tsukasa, they don't get to wander in the World. They're just comatose.)

Kite vows to get revenge and tries to help Aura, meeting new friends along the way, including Balmung of the Azure Sky, Blackrose (looks like Mimiru), Elk (looks like Tsukasa), and a strange cat-player named Mia, who is able to see the Twilight Bracelet, an invincible, illegal item given to him by Aura that allowed him to Data Drain.

At the end of Infection, we see Skeith Data Draining Aura, sending her data across the World in fragments. In a rage, Kite defeats Skeith, and from his ashes comes a new evil: Cubia.

Cubia is a monster created from the data produced by all the Data Drain's Kite has performed. Skeith just cinched it. As Kite grows stronger, so does Cubia. And Cubia is bent on destroying Kite. For the next two games, the story consists of Kite and the others assembling Aura, defeating Phases, and fighting (and fleeing from) Cubia at almost every turn.

It also seems that when every time a Phase is destroyed, the World crashes and the situation gets worse. Invincible monsters, sealed up areas, characters losing their data, even Mia is effected despite the Bracelet's protection over Kite's party, and her coherency and sanity are starting to go.

It turns out, by Quarantine, that Mia is Maha (the cat from Sign) the sixth Phase. Mia transforms before them all, and they're forced to fight their beloved friend. After Mia's defeated, there's a few tearjerking moments and such.

Then after defeating the seventh Phase, Aura is finally reassembled, and tells the group that Cubia is too dangerous and should be avoided. Of course, Kite and the others fight him anyway, and Kite decides to destroy his Bracelet in order to beat Cubia. Although Cubia is now destroyed, the group lost their only way to defeat the last, and eighth, Phase.

Well crap.

Corbenic (the eighth Phase) doesn't give them any time to recover and attacks almost immediately. He doesn't seem like much of a threat at first, looking like a little seed. After whipping his digital tushie, he turns into a big plant, with an invincible force field. Then Aura, along with every comatose player, comes to help out and they break through his shield, and the battle gets insanely complicated. Then Corbenic takes on his third form, a bunch of eyes, and Data Drains everyone in the World, Kite being the only one left.

Kite goes in for the final blow, and Aura takes the hit, sacrificing herself to defeat Corbenic. This causes the entire World to reboot. Everyone's awake, everything is fixed. Aura is complete and Morganna (the controller of the Phases) is gone. But there's still one loose end to fix up as Aura gives Kite a new bracelet and sends the group to a dungeon infected with Data Bugs, invincible monsters.

As they get to the bottom of the dungeon, they see Maha being absorbed by one of the Guardians like Tsukasa had. This is the final fragment of Morganna. After defeating it, Maha dissapears and Mia is reborn. She seems to have memory loss, but the group doesn't care as long as she's back. They vow that they'll find her old memories while making new memories along the way.

Awwwwwwwwwww ^_^

Oh yea, and then there's Liminality, which shows how everything is messing up Y2K-style while the games take place. But that's another post for another day.[/spoiler]
