is he being cruel and evil because the main charaters are created from his past enemys data.

Indeed, Tri isn´t Kite.
It´s just an AI, a bug or who-knows-what which is using Kite´s (wrecked) player avatar...as you might know, Shugo isn´t Kite either he also just looks like him.
The original Kite of the games can only visit "The World" very rarely in later times (just as well as Crim do) because he and Orca are in college, that limits their time span which they can spend in "The World".

Do what? Using the avatar? That´s not a big problem...Tri can either have been copied Kite´s character data (as Cubia had done, too, although it only copied the stats and the power, that´s why Cubia constantly got bigger) or hacked the data. If it´s true that the control of "The World" slipped out of Aura´s hands in G.U., that should be easy.
Maybe it is also only remnant data of the first bracelet (if it is the one Tri uses) which has taken the form of Kite´s avatar...but it´s all speculation up to now.

That's been a theory that I've recently adopted, that the original Bracelet kept an imprint of Kite's data and resided in the back of the system, only emerging in the New World and witnessed a PK, and thus began repeating those actions by PKing everyone it met, but took the step farther by Data Draining them in an attempt to create true death (think Morti from the Udeden anime.) It's encounter with the main characters of GU may have changed it's goals abit, and we can only guess what Tri-Edge's true ambitions in the World are. Does it seek to kill every player? Recreate the Twilight Incident? Return to Kite?! Only the game will show us.

that makes it sound as though the braclet itself created tri-edge from remnant data of kite that may have been left inside it, because it is kite's and since kite cannot use it alot it created a new person (tri-edge) to copy kite's purpose. but since tri-edge isnt perfect he changed everything.

@the unknown twin blade: We doesn´t even know if Tri is evil or not...just because it whipped Haseo´s ass doesn´t mean that it must be the evil one in G.U., the phases in the first four games weren´t evil either, just misused subroutines of the epitaph program...

@AuraTwilight: The old bracelet developing a consciousness and creating Tri is a interesting theory. When a program (Morganna) can develop a consciousness why shouldn´t a legendary item capable of it too...or Tri itself is just a tool created by another insane AI...Morganna hasn´t the privilege in going insane.
But if this bracelet is really the old one from Kite which was damaged by Blacky there must be some form of a new Cubia when Tri uses it that much...

Although there´s a slight possibility that Morganna could be recreated. It was only said that Aura absorbed all data from her she needed and merged with it and that she had deleted her consciousness...but there is a chance that remnant data is left (also the epitaph program itself is still there and functionable, and Morganna is part of this program). So even when Helba's and Lios' investigations and Kite´s, Orca´s and Balmung´s search doesn´t reveal anything it doesn´t mean that there isn´t something left, who knows which data is all in the depth of the black box...who can guarantee that these remnants doesn´t develop a consciousness again?

You can´t count in the Legend of the twilight-anime, it doesn´t belong to the .hack-storyline...Morti never existed in the original story...the real story of Shugo and Rena (the "fake" Kite and BlackRose as you say, heck, they only use the same avatars as the older originals, you can still differ them because Shugo and Rena are chibi-style while Kite and Blacky are teenager-style) is about bringing back Aura´s daughter, Zefie, to the black box areas...

...um yeah, and since Bandai let out more Info or the game itself comes out we still can only speculate what Tris real intentions are (if it even has own intentions...maybe it´s just used by someone).
Just because Haseo hates it doesn´t mean that it is the enemy, it´s only Haseo´s point of view, we can´t take this a a measure...
