I'm so excited for this to come out I wish we had some kinda idea ballpark for release and it's not just starting proper development.
They said it won't be a social game, but I wonder if we will have random NPCs running around tailored for friends or people playing at the same time.
Maybe time trials for racing/floor speed clearing would have real player data too.
Obviously I think the combat will be a lot different and improved, but I hope it's not just a kind of copy of the fighting games "made .hack" but another .hack game that can serve as the Ninja Storm type combat for the IP later on maybe.
Maybe the real life parts will be walking around like Persona since they said they were inspired by that. Wonder if we have to hang out with our group of players irl if it's like a local guild type of thing. I prefer it'd be more similar to Judgment (Yakuza) where we solve events and puzzles similar to that maybe.
Would really be cool if we had some words that are discovered by typing them in manually and we kinda figure it out as a real community. Not sure how people would feel about that tho.
Better loot and customization would be really nice too. Obviously people will likely want to choose their race/class, but as an MMO I wonder if they will explore "alts" as a concept tho it feels out of place for The World, Yata did enjoy alting so...
Better AI and all that is given, but I wonder if they will use actual AI to have them remember stuff like an NPC remarking on interactions with us or be like "No I do not want 6 copies of the starter twin blades wtf?" Realistic gamers would be funny to see especially if they can be personalized for representing us. Something like the Main Pawn in Dragon's Dogma as our player representative in other people's games if the main PC is customized or the alts are a thing. (Which I think is a great way to have people be able to play whatever they want.)
That's all I can think of ATM off the dome but I'm really excited.
What modern/next gen mechanics and features do you expect?

Would love for the IRL portions to have an affinity system or something like Persona. Would be cool to meet "The World" crew in Shibuya or walk into a konbini and get some snacks as your character. I think CC2 can do some really interesting things here and balance out accessing "The World" and IRL in a very unique way that no JRPG has done before.

I'm curious about the direction of the game as well! They've learned a lot since the making of .hack//IMOQ!
It could be anything at this point , I personally don't mind having a range of difficulty for battle. I also wouldn't mind having mechanics that would challenge us to dodge and strategize or use weak points, buffs, etc. It would be pretty cool to see a custom character option handled like Dragon's Dogma as you mentioned.
What I would like, though not relevant to plot, would be mini games and extra fun side quests with neat rewards or even a dlc of Old outfits (If Bandai allows)!

I'll take anything at this point! I'm happy already with visuals and its announcement!d5t wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 11:02 pm Would love for the IRL portions to have an affinity system or something like Persona. Having fun extra interactable features would be a bonus and would make the game feel livelier!
Idk why I think of "Metaphor: ReFantazio" more than "Persona" because "Metaphor: ReFantazio" seems to have a slightly stricter timed window in comparison to Persona when it comes to dealing with certain events and socialization. If that's the case, it would create a way for players to replay and see options they may have missed depending on the requirements needed. Can you imagine in a more time-pressed part of the plot where now it's a matter of choice that can determine whether it helps or makes things more difficult! yabai!
