Medusa Academy

Post by Helbaworshipper »

2015 - During a normal excavation, human beings came in contact with the treasure box of of an unknown god. Through that box they obtained artifacts that imbued them with powers. For the first few years, the power was not a problem.

2020 - An explosion occurred at the lab, causing a strange gas to flow in the air. Hundreds around the explosion died, including the scientists. Those that didn’t die in the immediate area started to show abilities that were considered of fiction. Super strength is witnessed, but the newly hatched powers are easily taken down by the military.

2035 - Kids born with genetic compatibility are witnessed by many hospital employees. The scientists choose to study them in a last hope to take down the ones that remain to take over the government. The plans for Medusa Academy are started during the experiments.

2040 - Medusa Academy is completed and takes in kids with genetic compatibility, teaching them to fight against the remaining and seemingly multiplying super powered humans.

2060 - The war against the transformed humans has been balanced until now. You are a genetically compatible being who has been with your partner for some time. However, your combat time is limited and you are being forced into the front lines. Will you learn your skills in time?

Your Role Choice:

As a genetically compatible being, you are raised as a provider or receiver. Since you have been raised on the island since a young age and have been beside your partner, you have synced enough for initial combat.

Provider - Gives energy once a day to the Receiver through a kiss. As a result, he or she has a more supportive role. This may be an ability that effects the enemy, the receiver, or the entire area.

Receiver - The fighter of the group. Receiving energy once a day through a kiss from the Provider, they are capable of offensive powers. This may be an ability that allows the creation of weapons or the enhancement of them, self-empowering abilities, or even ones that effect the enemy when hit.

General Information about Medusa Academy:

Medusa Academy is located on an island near the United States. It is just far enough away that it requires a ferry to bring supplies and travel to and from without military intervention. You live in the dorms with your partner, and all dorms are co-ed. There are four dorms based on level of experience. You will be in the East Dorm, as it is just the start of your combat experience.

You can obtain all you need in shops near any dorms and a local fish market near the ferry.

General Dorm Set up:

Each floor has ten room suites. Each suite consists of two separate rooms, a general living area and a bathroom. Food can be stored, but full meals are taken in the main mess hall located in the academy or purchased from shops.

Name: Allen Ferris King
Age: 14
Sex: Male
Position: Receiver
Power:
Field of Pandemonium
Once per provided kiss, when Allen comes into unwanted physical contact a wave of "darkness" spreads. The distance the wave can travel before dissipating is dependent on how Allen is feeling at the time. Once trapped in the "Field," mentally the victim will notice the world shift and shape to what must be determined as Allen's own nightmares. This varies considerably and all damage sustained in the "Field" is doled out in reality. Often when one is trapped in a "Field of Pandemonium" Allen himself will attack the victim or victims in reality, causing a disorienting feeling and loss of sensory perceptions in the "Field." The duration of a stay in a "Field" is dependent on how long Allen feels the unwarranted feelings. If he can calm down, the "Field" will dissipate. Being trapped in a field will warrant a visit from a faceless adult who spouts nothing but denial and harsh insults, a decapitated boy, an effeminate boy who is very protective of his body, or a pleasant girl who exhibits a dark sense of humor. The Provider alone is immune from the "Field's" effects.

Combat History: Unrefined in combat, Allen’s combat simulations usually involve a passive method of fretfully avoiding combat. However, in times of mental duress and during several incidents of mental snaps, Allen has shown a brutal, primal method of combat, in which lethality is the goal of his attacks.
Biography: Allen grew up with what most of his peers called imaginary friends. Billy, Lucie, and Toni. Billy and Toni were twins who tortured Allen relentlessly to the point of what Allen claimed to be physical abuse. Allen was found one day with a fork jammed into his eye, claiming that Toni held him down so Billy could hurt him. Lucie is the kindness of the human race through Allen’s eye. She believes him when no one else will and is generally supportive of his efforts. None of these people are real, not the product of his “gift”. He shows signs of schizophrenia, but it might be an overactive imagination, as he has not had a violent incident since he “killed” Billy, and tortured Toni in some way. Allen knows he has a father who dismisses his son as a crazy fool undeserving of his affections. Since puberty, Lucie has grown, but seems to be opposing Allen. Allen refuses to talk about Lucie or Toni civilly.
Personality: Allen is very depressed and lonely on the inside. He covers this up by being selfish, and narcissistic. He only wishes to be noticed and appreciated by someone other than Lucie.
Appearance: Want to dance?
Partner: Robert Giles

Name: Zorlo Amaranthine
Age: 17
Sex: Male

Position: Receiver

Power: Mind Knight: Contained of intense psionic powers, when his receiver powers awaken, Z's hair turns green and his materializes his powers in two forms.

Inertial Armor: Armor created of pure force that he manifests using his mind. The armor covers his clothing and increases his defense against oncoming attacks.

Call Weapon: Using ambient energy around him, Z can build weapons out of crystalized force with his mind. Taking the form of green crystal, his weapons are unnaturally well designed, but possess no magical powers of their own.

Other Equipment: He carries a shield of steel to protect him when his powers are not active.

Combat History: Having tapped into his mind powers during simulations, he has not yet had any incidents in testing his powers out outside of such simulations.

Biography: Gifted with early age psionic activity, his quick working mind allowed Z to quickly solve numerous problems or concerns without much thought. When the goal began to develop his powers, Z was more than ready to see how they manifested. To date, he has no knowledge of his original parents or any clue where to even begin looking.

Personality: Focused and determined, Zorlo's personality is much as one would expect of a person developing mental powers. He has little awareness of the immediate and spends most of his time mumbling incoherently to himself when he DOES listen to others about what they're saying. Preferring solitude to anything else, only his partner knows where to find him when he is nowhere to be found: some place quiet.

Appearance: Image

Name: Zachary Leos
Age: 15
Sex: Male
POsition: Provider
Power:

Bitter Cold: By applying frost crystals, he can close and seal wounds and stop bleeding. This also have a healing effect, although the pain it inflicts as part of the healing is an unintended side-effect

Ice Shaper: Having the power to shape ice into various small things, he tends to let his mind wander and uses this power to entertain himself. It has limited use in combat.

Combat History: Mostly observation and combat simulation with Noriko

Biography: A young man who spent months training in secret to master his Provider powers to help his partner. Few know the two are actually partners, at times.

Personality: A kind and strong willed boy. He spends most of his time making objects of ice to entertain himself, but has a deadly seriousness in combat. He has a short temper when Noriko is in danger.

Partner: Noriko

Name: Robert Giles
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Position: Provider
Power:
Lay on Hands: Robert can heal the injuries of himself or others. Also eliminates fatigue.
Topsy-Turvy: Turns others’ perception of the world around with the exception of his Receiver. Things in front of them appear to be behind and vice-versa, above seems to be below, etc. It’s kind of like inverting the controls on a video game.
Kaiju: Changes his Receiver into a monstrous amphibious form that can breathe out blasts of lightning or even fly. The actual size is dependent upon how strong the connection is between Robert and his receiver, ranging from about the size of a tank to hundreds of feet in height.
Examples: "Oliver", James, Quentin
Combat History: Has a fair amount of hand-to-hand experience from his escape attempts and while he may not be as capable a fighter as a Receiver, Robert refuses to ever just stand back and hide instead running into the fray with his Receiver, or without them, and favors SMGs and grenades, but he also has a special place in his heart for grenade launchers although he isn't allowed one of those very often.
Biography: Robert's genetics might have cast him into the provider role, but he's never taken well to being one and has attempted to escape Medusa Academy on multiple occasions, nearly drowning once.
Personality: Abrasive and independent. Has an instinctive dislike of being told what to do.
Appearance: Sans the rapier.
Partner: Allen Ferris King

Name: So-Hee Chang
Age: 15
Sex: Female
Position: Provider
Power:

Mystic Wind - Able to summon a wind that can heal light wounds and temporarily close bigger wounds.

Mystic Water - Able to summon the equivalent to water elements. Liquid and Ice are the most often used, but steam can also be used. Using what is in the air and in the area around, the element can effect the enemy in offensive attack.

Combat History: Mostly simulations and small incidents in the United States.

Biography: So-Hee was born to a poor family. At around two, she was taken to Medusa Academy to be partnered with a Receiver. She’s been evaluated as an average Provider most of the time by her teachers based on the tests. She tries her best, though she often feels tired.

Personality: So-Hee is a person who works harder than most people to keep up with her class. Though she can achieve average grades in combat and such, it takes longer for her to achieve them.

Appearance:Image

Partner: Zorlo Amaranthine

----

Name: Noriko Ito
Age: 16
Sex: Female
Position: Receiver
Power:

Acupuncture strike - Creates needles out of thin air, aiming them at places that will stop powers temporarily for a final blow.

Mental Suggestion - Able to motivate self by in a sense hypnotizing herself temporarily.

Combat History: Adept at most combat, Noriko is one of the top of her class. As a result, she is often seen as cold by other students and only does what is asked of her.

Biography: Noriko was brought into Medusa Academy as a baby. She was raised by one of the many nurses and told about her potential. As a result, she focused on just the fight for humanity, rather than her relationship with others. She is always given the highest tests scores and is always training to be on the front line.

Personality: Noriko focuses on the main goal over personal goals. She simply wants to kill who she is assigned to kill and return home.

Allen was not in his bed this morning. He was never sleeping in his bed. Instead, hidden deep in the closet behind a large pair of black rubber boots, a curled up little boy shook and shivered. Tears no longer streamed down his cheek. His eyes were dark; his lack of sleep was now a physical issue. “I-Is the sun out yet?” His eye focused on the small sliver of light that creaked from his closet door. Through his heavy shades and the general layout of the room, this light indicated morning was well underway. Allen reached up and opened the door hesitantly. He peaked out to see the always-empty room. Occasionally a teenage girl was sitting on his bed. A red and white dress, polka dots covered it just like Minnie Mouse’s dress. Today she left Allen alone. His morning guest today was a beauty. Rather what most would construe as a beauty. A boy with long, tremendous waves of jet-black hair. Freckles danced on his cheek and his crystal blue eyes focused on Allen’s petite figure. Allen pulled on his boots and the boy wrapped his arms around Allen’s arm. Allen’s entire body trembled.

“I should have been your partner. You know I’m your best match Allen. I can feel our hearts beating in sync” His hand gently tapped Allen’s. “No! No no no! Stop!” The sun turned off and shadows filled the room. All along his body he could feel this boy’s hands. “S-stop! I- I don’t- No!” “You wanted me to be a girl. So I’ll treat you like a girl would.” “Please stop! Please!” Allen stumbled backwards, and felt his door handle. He flung open the door and pitifully crawled to the living area. “Help! Help me please!” From the outside, the room was empty. Small scratch marks appeared on Allen’s thighs. “I-I… I hate you! Just die!” Allen slammed the shadow-filled room’s door, and looked down to see a large bite-mark in his boot. “I-I need to stay away from Toni… h-he’s getting weird.”

Why couldn't I have been born a Receiver, or better yet, normal? Robert looked over at Allen's wall and sighed. But no, I have to be a provider and my receiver is this guy. If I were a Receiver maybe I could have been paired with So-Hee, she's a girl at least, I wouldn't have minded the daily ritual so much. But instead I have a loony boy who could snap with a twig. Robert glanced up at the clock folded shut the book he had been ignoring and pulled on his coat. Maybe food will improve my mood. And if that doesn't we're supposed to do some fighting today or soon at least. I can work out my frustrations on somebody's or something's face. He heard Allen's screams. Or maybe a twig will snap.

Robert exited his room, making certain that it's noise alerted Allen of his approach. No sense spooking him more. Normally this is the part where Robert would have slapped a person, but he knew that wouldn't help Allen stop panicking by now and so knelt down next to him. "Allen, hey. Morning." Might as well get this over with, if I don't I'll start to feel like crap later anyways. Robert looked him over. "I see they've been bothering you again. Here, let me help." He kissed Allen as he placed his hands on the injuries and healed them and rid Allen of the exhaustion from another sleepless night. "Is that better?" I am so not a caretaker, why the hell am I stuck with this gig? Oh, right, because I'll die if I don't and maybe others too if Allen ever goes completely off the deep end.

"I'm going to go for a run, and then breakfast. You have my number if you need it, yeah?" Robert pulled out a cell phone to show him that he would have it on him and then secured it in his jacket. "Ok, I will see you later. Remember, don't let them push you around."
((I'm off for the evening. If y'all need my character to do something before tomorrow, Haseo you've got control of Robert.))

A groan brought So-Hee to wake up. She lifted her head up from the desk. A few crumpled papers with notes and some half open text books greeted her. She rubbed her eyes a little, moving out of the chair slowly and removing her night gown. Another night studying hard for an exam that most people aced without it. Still, she couldn't rely on memory as much, like they did. She brought her nightgown into a gentle fold, placing it on top of the pillow. She made the bed and quickly grasped a robe and her clothes for the day. She wanted to make sure she cleaned up before Zorlo did.

'I hate charging when I'm barely awake.' She thought as she proceeded to start the usual daily process. Of course, that would mean going around, taking a few tests, and probably going to the officials for their tests regarding where they would go along the front lines. She'd have to work really hard.

Allen’s body trembled as Robert approached him. Their relationship was fuzzy at best. Allen knew Robert would rather have had a more powerful Receiver, one who was more like him, strong, bold, and powerful. “J-Just Toni. H-He’s been really weird recently. He gets all handsy feely.” Allen wiped his clothes and sat up straight. While he had not slept, the physical toll of his restlessness now no longer mattered. “Be safe.” Allen whispered as he looked at the door. “I’m hungry. I think I should eat breakfast too.” Allen looked around for his cell phone. It was a brick of a phone since Allen could not be trusted with anything remotely destructible. Allen placed the cell phone in his pocket and left his room. He locked the door behind him and double-checked it; assuring he locked the door this time. Slowly as he walked away, the door creaked open and from the crack, the headless child who never grew up poked his body out, almost as if he were watching. Silently, the boy tailed Allen. Allen’s paranoia caused him to turn around multiple times on his trip to the dining hall. Every time he turned around the boy hopped left or right, hid behind a door, behind a structure. Always just enough for Allen to know he existed, but never enough to warrant a search.

He made it to the lunchroom. It was pitch black, cackles of laughter haunted Allen as he made his way to the lines.
“It’s okay… it’s okay. Just...”
“Why the hell should I feed you? You’re better off dead.” Allen’s eye narrowed, he turned to face a faceless man, a green sweater-vest a white dress-shirt and khaki pants. “I’m glad you’re on this wretched island. You don’t deserve to be near real people.” Allen ordered his food, doing all he could not to cry. “It’s trash! You are shoveling trash down your throat! Why bother? Why not just eat scraps from the dumpster, you worthless failure? You think you deserve the money to spend on that food?” Allen paid the money for the food and sat at an empty table. “I said don’t eat that!” His father slapped the food off the table, but no one saw it. “I-I was hungry…” Allen whines to himself. The man slapped Allen across the face, and Allen went tumbling onto the floor.

"SEems like she's finally awake," Zorlo nodded at the groan as he adjusted his glasses. He sat quietly and observed his book as he waited. "Every day, same thing. SHe studies herself stupid… MORE stupid… and every day, I'm forced to watch and wait. I can't blame her for not being born a genius, but I can blame her for how long EVERYTHING ELSE takes her," he stated, each punctuated word said to a wall.

As much as So-Hee sometimes annoyed him, that was less true of her than others. In fact, their bond was hard to define, as she was the person whom he bonded with best, but still relatively poorly. He couldn't relate to others, and their constant flaws helped eclipse his own. More oddly, she'd been the only one who had put up with his constant lack of conversation and his complaints.

"It could be worse, I suppose,' he stated as he adjusted his glasses. "I just need to make the best of it. After all, if the lesser folks are to be listened to, this girl is attractive. And she puts up with me… which I deem easy, but others disagree. I wonder what's different about her than EVERYONE else?" he asked the wall, knowing no answers would come. He dug his nose back into his back and adjusted his glasses once more. He hoped she'd be done in there soon.

So-Hee took as much time as she was usually given before having to figure out how much energy her partner needed. Normally, he only took enough for what he needed to do, but there were times he took too much and she felt more drained than usual. Still, she had to be careful about things and try her best to be able to control her own flow. She quickly placed her uniform on, placing only the slightest amount of makeup in order to keep the black sags from showing beneath her eyes. She exited with the robe in one arm, entering her room and hanging it up carefully. She packed the bag with the books and notes she needed and exited the room. Adjusting her bag, she exited the room with her shoes on and walked towards her partner's door. She knocked in it lightly and opened it up.

"How much will you need for the training test?" She asked, knowing it would be better to be to the point. She had gotten used to not putting in a 'good morning' or 'how are you' since she had met him. It had taken awhile, but she had to get along with him if she wanted to be able to fight.

Zorlo chuckled from behind her. "I suppose 'you're late' is a bit pointless to state now. I require only a little bit of power today. As I master my Psionic basics, I require less of your power each day. Only when I'm strained do I require more, and for that I apologize," he said, using what little power he could manifest without her to scan her surface thoughts. She was like a book: Easy to read.

"Did they assign you a new partner yet? After all, I'm sure by now they've grown fed up with my inability to work with people and trying to find someone more compatible with you. If they'd listened to me in the first place and built the psionic crystals, my powers wouldn't REQUIRE a provider, but something about that scared them," he stated with a chuckle. "Anyway, let's be on our way."

So-Hee turned around, moving closer to Zorlo. She moved up to kiss him on the lips, allowing him to receive energy. After a few moments, she moved back and started to walk out of his room. "I'm not being assigned to someone else unless you are die. I don't plan on letting you die." She spoke, knowing that they needed to get breakfast soon. Part of her wondered if the banter would alter, but that was the way her partner was.

He was perplexed. She always did this. He'd try to free her of her from her burden of having to watch over him. In truth, he felt guilt… deep guilt, in earnest. He followed her, holding himself completely normal as he read his book. His hand shook, a bit nervous. WHY was she so understanding. He simply couldn't figure her angle out.

He took a deep breath and smiled. "Thank you, So-Hee," he whispered as he followed a few feet behind her. "So, have you found a mate yet?" he asked her, trying to nose in on her personal life. SOmething he did to entertain himself at times.

"I don't have the time for that." She answered, walking with him into the dining hall. Every dorm was an equal distance away from the main academy. She purchased her food beside him, even carrying his tray so he could stay in contact with his book. She chose a place to sit carefully. Usually people kept away from Allen, but she figured that anyone could use someone sitting beside them. When she had meals. she usually sat beside Allen and his partner. She placed both trays down, not saying too much so as to allow Allen to adjust to their presence.

Allen sat quietly; he stared at the empty tray, trying so very hard not to cry. His food was on the floor, and Allen had been forced to clean it up. This was the part of the day he hated most. The emptiness of his stomach. His father would never allow him to eat. Especially if he was alone. Allen often ate with Robert for this reason. His father was smart, cynical and stealthy. His father never bothered him if someone was looking his way. A small bruise was on his knee from when he hit the floor, but no one noticed. Allen did not notice the girl sitting beside him; he just stared at the empty tray. “You should say something. She’s pretty, I mean not as pretty as me, but definitely way more kissable than Robert what do you think?” Allen’s eye widened and he turned to the other side, looking away from So-Hee. “What are you doing here? I told you to leave me alone.” Allen whispered as he turned ever so slightly to see the pretty girl before him. That stupid Minnie Mouse dress, her hair, black, but not the same jet-black that Toni had. Her hair was not as long either. She had her hair in a bowl cut, her bangs out of her eyes. The girl stood up and shrugged, “I’m just trying to help you. All I ever wanted to do was help you. Even that last-” “Leave me alone!” Allen shouted as he slammed his fists on the table. Immediately the girl faded into nothingness. Eyes were glued on him however. Multiple eyes. Everyone was staring at him. Everyone was judging him. Everyone was making fun of him. Whispers, unbelievably loud echoed in his head. “I’m not a freak. I’m not a monster. I’m normal. I’m normal.” Allen chanted to himself as he sat beside So-Hee. “I’m hungry, will you go with me to buy food?”

Nodding lightly, So-Hee looked towards Zorlo. "I'll be right back." She stood up and walked with him, her bag near her partner. She usually didn't say much to Allen unless he wanted her to talk. More so because it would be better to say things she meant instead of things that might come out of nowhere. She walked with him as the line gently moved in the usual pace.

‘I wish Robert was here.’ Allen looked at the girl. “Thank you.” He quietly said as they waited in line. Allen did not really speak to So-Hee. She was nice, but she was so different than Robert. She liked it here, more so than anyone else he knew. But her company was completely acceptable. When he was someone, he felt safe, Robert was definitely much better to be around than anyone else was. While he knew the two were an unfortunate pair, he was glad to have Robert. Robert was leagues better than Allen’s father and any of those children who constantly pestered him. Allen reached inside his pocket and looked at his phone. A text message appeared on his phone.

Die. You deserve to die. I hate you. Die.
Allen closed his phone and put it back in his pocket. Last time he showed someone a text his phone was blank. He knew she would never believe him. They pretended to believe him. They pretended to be his friends. If only he could have a real friend. When it was finally Allen’s turn to buy food, he merely bought an apple. He was hungry, but all the other food looked dangerous. The sandwiches had rotten, moldy meat. The oatmeal bubbled disgustingly. The cereal had rusty nuts in it. The milk had to be poisoned. It was too white to be normal. “J-just this please. I’d like this.”
No matter how high the wall. No matter how thick. My love surmounts them all. Like a bird. Flying to you. Forever and ever.

Keeping her respectful distance, So-Hee proceeded back to the table beside Allen. She sat down at the and began eating her own breakfast. Of course, it was a rarity to not see Robert next to Allen. Usually there were no problems with Robert around. It was most likely that the pair meant that it was easier to cope with the reality around them. Still, she hoped that Robert could do a lot more. After all, she got along with Zorlo enough to do fight simulations and such.

Robert's run took him over near the ferry, the MPs went immediately to high alert upon seeing him approach. Robert grinned happily upon seeing that and stopped a few dozen yards in front of them. "Morning gentlemen." He turned aside and stepped towards the coast, "Step away from the water Mr. Giles." Robert looked back to them, relax, I'm just admiring the view." He sat down and looked towards the mainland. It's not that far. I can make it, just need to keep myself from becoming too exhausted to keep swimming. Robert pulled out his phone and took a shot of the horizon, then flicked to the side a couple times. A shot of an enormous monster and then he flicked a couple more times it was another shot of Allen, this time from the day they first met. He was a little guy, who had gotten the crap beaten out of him enough that his spirit was completely broken, that's how he saw him that day and it pissed him off. He was ashamed to say that he had beaten the crap out of him himself inside of an hour of that. That's one of the few things he actually was ashamed of, most of those things actually involved him doing something to Allen actually. Robert took a deep breath and changed to a different folder, sunrises. "I should get going." He put the phone away and finished his run.

Robert walked up behind So-Hee and Zorlo. Mr. High and Mighty. He booped Zorlo lightly on the head with a cold and condensation covered carton. "Morning, Mr. Hey you you get off of my cloud." And the ever studious Ms. Chang no doubt the bags under her eyes have multiplied yet again. And upon So-Hee's crown he placed an unasked for and unprecedented kiss. "So-Hee." He sat down next to Allen and placed a white bag and a cold unopened carton of chocolate milk in front of him. "Donut holes fresh from the donut shop. Figured you probably wouldn't be feeling up to stomaching the usual swill they have here today." For himself he had topped some toast from the line with eggs also from the line, but he also had a plum from the town that he sliced up and topped the egg toast with. Robert also had a glass of juice similarly from the line. "So, how go the studies? Do the two of you want to have another study group tonight? I'll bring the coffee if you guys bring the work ethic." He asked referring to Allen and So-Hee. As far as standard education he was in a different grade than them, but Robert knew she was always studying anyways and he figured the social interaction might do Allen some good, more time with real people meant less time alone with whatever the terrible trio were, plus he didn't like having to deal with Allen alone if he could help it.
