New Megaman successor from Inafune on Kickstarter!
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mig ... ighty-no-9
Figure I post this here.
The game has already met its initial funding but we need more people to get the word out and raise enough to get it for consoles and possibly handhelds! Check it out guys cause I know some of you love the megaman series such as myself!

I'm hyped for it. I just hope Capcom doesn't do anything like copyright infringement.

^_^ Just one for stretch goal and we'll have reached the consoles, should only take another two or three days I'd imagine. I'm surprised they didn't comment during PAX that when Inafune finished talking they had about $6000 or $7000 already lol
I already pledged and got my brother to aswell, posted about this kickstarter on afew forums and watching with amazement as we keep reaching goals
I'm glad they are listening to us fans during this, even altering the goals and adding more sketches from Inafune ^-^

Re: New Megaman successor from Inafune on Kickstarter!
^(^o^)^ glad to hear you pledged so much, they just revealed some new stretch goals and i'm glad there is one for 2 million seeing as there was quite a gap between $1,750,000 and $2,200,000. Now we have the next gen consoles in sight and other goals aswell, good thing we have over 20 days left to reach these xD
I'm looking forward to reaching $2.750,000 to get the co-op mode and extra boss fight
Hope come the middle of the month when others get paid they'll be adding pledges aswell, plus if some get their income at the end of the month they can pledge or re-pledge more ^-^
I put $175 though its $15 for shipping ^^' got my bro to pledge the same ^_^

Re: New Megaman successor from Inafune on Kickstarter!
I think with the last 48 hours this game has a very good chance to meet all the stretch goals. I'm still trying to spread the word around to all the megaman fans like the 100k strong wherever they are.

Re: New Megaman successor from Inafune on Kickstarter!
^_^ I really hope that is the case, surely people who get paid at the end of the month may make another pledge to catch the remaining targets.
The 100k strong for MML3 already knows about the kickstarter and make regular updates when new info is available. Though so far there is only 34k+ people who fan pledged and albeit not everyone can pledge surely more than 1/3 of the group can put some money towards this .-. Then again not everyone has a job or access to a credit card ^^'

I can't wait to play it!
It's pretty sad that Capcom has thrown Megaman under the bus, but he can live on through his successor.

Re: New Megaman successor from Inafune on Kickstarter!
With under a week to goal we have reached over $2.4 million, hope we have enough steam for the final two stretch goals as many fans want the Beck and Call Co-op ^_^
^(' o ')^ We can do it!

With the new community manager who has not even played Rockman/Megaman before I can tell this shall not go well. Also her agenda she is spreading.

Yeah I heard about the manager, seems Comcept have said that she won't have any say in the final game or words to that effect.
@.@ and Call F has been chosen by the fans, a hit or miss with most people though I'd say she definitely fits the style MN9. Though many complaints that she looks too much like Roll, mainly from people who voted for E/H, though I'd say call H resembles Roll more. xD

Re: New Megaman successor from Inafune on Kickstarter!
I thought they called out a portion of their forum users for being dumb and insultful.
What has this person said that's so objectionable? Is there a link?
I don't actually like the concept art for this game or the idea of another Megaman clone or tbh even Megaman (it's not a game--but that's another thread and I don't expect everyone to agree), but I'm fascinated by the potential for Kickstarter and how well this game has done for itself. There are a lot of interesting aspects to this, such as how they charged full game price for the full game reward (for the digital release this kind of irks me, but it's interesting.) I do like Inafune's later work, and I think Kickstarter has the potential to solve a lot of problems in the game industry (piracy can't hurt a pre-funded game, and people can fund the games they actually want), so I'm watching this whole process with interest.

She stated her wants Beck to be female for gender equality. It is not that people have a problem with Beck being a female or female characters but it is the agenda and the way she went about things that ticked everyone off. Plus she stated that she never or at least only played one Rockman/Megaman game. She got her job from knowing someone which is not necessarily bad but still. To make things worse she started deleting/controlling post made on forums and the social networks despite people asking legit questions.Kuukai wrote:I thought they called out a portion of their forum users for being dumb and insultful.

Its safe to say she likely won't have any/little influence in the game. If she does then a lot of people would drop their support. She is very disliked as a community manager.

Re: New Megaman successor from Inafune on Kickstarter!
She didn't say they should, just said it would be cool. I don't see why that's so controversial. If a guy said it and posted hot fanart there'd be no controversy. Before female Kite actually existed, there were "what if" discussions and fanart about that, and no one freaked out. Change the motivation for hotness and cool idea-ness to other very real considerations and suddenly everyone freaks out. Whose posts did she delete exactly? Back when dothack.com had forums and an official community manager, I bet you dollars to donuts that that guy wouldn't identify as a ".hack player" (although he sure seemed to like Salvador Aihara and probably would have a "favorite" character). It's just a job. Seems like a disproportionate backlash. If she like, actively detested the community or loathed the direction the game was going that would be something--that does not seem like the case.
Although it also highlights some problems with Kickstarter. It would be nice to change U.S. investment law so that you could have Kickstarter but with equity. Then fans would own the product, and have the ability to vote on things. Right now it's just a blank check, which is pretty much a timebomb.
On the other hand, this is also a case against that, because it feels like mob rule here would be wrong...

Well its the way that she went about things that ticked people off. If she would have just said what do you think of Rule 63 Beck things would have been fine. Plenty of fans have Rule 63 Beck has forum pictures anyway. People don't have a problem with female characters and long before the community manager problem it has been confirmed that Call was going to be playable anyway. The backlash really picked up with the never played Megaman statement. Dina was controlling stuff on the forums around the time the twitter/facebook or what ever social network was locked.Kuukai wrote:She didn't say they should, just said it would be cool. People really want a successor to Rockman/Megaman. Plus people are putting their money into this as well. As a community manager she should be on the community's good side. Suggesting what characters look like(but not being pushy about it), asking about gameplay stuff, story, etc should be things she is doing. People would prefer someone who has experience or know a lot about what is being worked on. Yeah there is the fair share of people that are there just to be there as community managers but still. An example would be look at someone like Combofiend and what he has been doing with Ultra Street Fighter 4.

Re: New Megaman successor from Inafune on Kickstarter!
I don't see anything weird about saying, "I think this would be cool and they should do it." That didn't seem pushy ("anyone who doesn't think this is stupid"). And like I said, with .hack no one ever freaked out about the community manager not being a hardcore series enthusiast. It's not worth getting upset over, like you said it's common.
What I see here is a kneejerk reaction where people don't like her private views and went scrounging around for "reasons" to justify these feelings after the fact. There doesn't seem to be any abuse of power or neglect of duty so the outrage really just highlights some real problems within the gamer community...

Re: New Megaman successor from Inafune on Kickstarter!
Well she won't have influence so people have calmed down. It was one step away from having 4chan got all out. The modding post thing about when people asked why she had the job, is she a fan, etc was really not cool though.Kuukai wrote:I don't see anything weird about saying, "I think this would be cool and they should do it." With that aside I'm likely going to get the Mighty No 9 on PC.
