Just played the beta over the weekend. Got my pugilist to level 18, marauder to level 4, arcanist to level 4. While it's not really anything like The World. Your talking about being stuck in the mmo plot?
It borrows a lot from Wow with quests, levelquests which are world encounters that can give good exp. I haven't really seen anyone done instances that much on the beta. I was talking to my friends about it a lot at work.

I just mean and MMO with that style of armor, magic and world.

I don't think they borrow much from WoW in quests, particularly. They had the same quests in FFXI, just added easy exp from them, which is just casual/modern MMO 101.

I played FF XI. I kinda got lost. Their is a chain to unlock your secondary class, a quest to ride your chocobo, and a quest to unlock the level cap from level 70 to 75. Now, its just up to level 99.
I didn't even talk to that many npc's due to the fact that I didn't know you were supposed to talk to them. There is no indication that it's a quest giver. If it wasn't for my friend pl me, I would have stopped on my first month playing. Also macros. When you compare it to other mmo's like Rift, The Secret World and Aion. I really don't want to type or create macros to shoot a bow, or use my abilities. I can understand it if it was casting one spell after another or telling your party what you're crowd controlling with your ability. It's fun if you have a group to level with though.
