Hawken

Post by Erranty »

So I read about this one a few months ago and got really excited about it because I'm a Mech fan. I had all kinds of potential expectations for it and everything. It met NONE of them...

I thought it was gonna be like the old Armored Core games, or maybe Phantom Crash/S.L.A.I. and really impress me, but no. Its doing the things those games avoided because doing so wouldn't have made their games sell.

You get about 100 credits per match. Unlocking a mech costs just over 6000 credits. So you're stuck with the free Training mech and whatever 2 temporary mechs are available that week till you've saved up enough to find out that even buying parts is stupid expensive.

So they basically force you to use the cash shop to get what you want, because nobody like grinding for a month just to find out that what they bought is getting nerfed...

They have you do manual everything... Lock-on isn't automatic, there isn't "In reticle auto-aim" like Armored Core or Phantom Crash/S.L.A.I., which is what made them seem realistic, I mean, who wouldn't develop that kinda tech to combat fast moving mechs? They could at least give the missiles an auto-lock feature, but no! The only mech that has it requires manual lock-on with the dead center of the reticle!

Another issue is that you have to stick to mech classes, and earn parts by leveling up those classes... And then you STILL have to purchase those parts! Most of them are Cash Shop only too!

What I've found the worst so far though, is the Matchmaking. There's no regard for balance in this game. My first match, before I leveled up even once, had me facing down an enemy team of people with level 20+ mechs... I don't care if those guys suck, they have a clear advantage over new players just as far as their stats go.

All in all, its a good thing it's free, because anyone who paid for this would feel ripped off. They did all the things a mech game of this type shouldn't do.

I started on this but got sidetracked by Battle Operation. I'm addicted to stealing Ifreets.
