The path to be a hero

"Just follow my lead," Mariah called happily as they began walking away from the diner. "Don't worry about that, by the way. Honestly. The owner and his kids all cheer for me during the games, so he always lets me eat for free. Anyway, I like either, but it's your call. Which do you feel matches your personality more, or more accurately, which do you like more, because I can already promise you that you'll be seeing it a lot when you officially take it up. Remember those fan clubs I was telling you about last night?" she added with a laugh. She still held his hand in hers, but began to slip out of his grip now. She had a valid reason to, even if it wasn't truly why she did it."I would hate to lose some of my fan base because of angry fangirls." They begin to enter parts of the town he hadn't seen yet, so she begin pointing out key buildings while conversation was silent.

Alex: ( he continued to walk with her and when she let go of his hand he places his hands in his pockets as he walks next to her) thats too bad but I guess you have to keep up appearances with your fans? Even when your with little old' me ( he laughs tender ally as he glances at her) so Miri why exactly would your fans be upset if I mean it's not like these people recognize me Infact I think your the one person who was how to figure it out what gave me away by the way? ( he looks around as he makes mental toes as he looks at her in the eyes) well I tell you one thing I do like wild cross but zetman seems heroic as well

"Well, if you like holding my hand so much, feel free to take it back. I promise I won't fight you," she teased. "Anyway, you might have noticed, but I'm very... perceptive, I guess you could say. I guess it's because of my past, but I tend to notice things other don't. Things like your eye being different today." She paused a moment to watch his reaction, but quickly continued in her explanation. "But to be honest with you Alex, it was your voice. You spent quite a long time talking with me yesterday, and you even talked with me in a more personal way as well... So, I suppose I kind of cheated, but either way there's your answer." She was referring to their mental talks, but it still brought a brief flash of pink to her cheeks to think of it as such. Speaking with someone like that was still a very personal thing to her, as opposed to simply reading someone's mind.

Alex: ( he smiles as he notices the pink on her cheeks) oh well than ( he takes her hand) granted you are the perceptive type that's a really good iity for a hero can't say I'm surprised though but I do have to say you really do interest me more now and I did rather enjoy our talk after all it's embarrassing to say but I've never really talked with anyone that personally before It was nice ( he looks so their eyes meet though it's cut short by both phones ringing at the same time) ah sorry ( he Answers the phone)

Woman's voice over every heroes phone: heroes we have a situation seems a couple rogue power users have started a fire you are to save the civilians and apprehend the Criminals

Alex: ( he hangs up as he looks at mariah) well that's unfortunate looks like we'll have to finish this tour Afterwards I'll see you there I suppose Miri I'll meet you back here after we finish up this hero business today hows that sound?

[Haseo{Terror of Death}]

"Fire, that's my specialty!" X-Zepher was sober now and flew to the scene of the fire. For him, the most important duty of a hero was to protect the civilians. The bad guys could get away, they weren't the priority. He gathered wind in his hands and then flew right overhead of the burning building. "This is X-Zepher! I'm here to help you! I ask that everyone still trapped inside get away from all windows and glass!" he shouted loudly. He waited a few moments before releasing a gale of wind so fierce it quelled nearly the entire blazing building. Now he'd have to actually inspect the building.

X-Zepher entered the building through it's roof access. He hated that he had to blow down doors, but it was the only way to insure the safety of everyone.

Eva was already at the scene with her cellphone, snapping pictures and taking videos. "Look, look it's Zephie!" She shouted, pointing towards the her favorite hero. Sometimes she wished she could be in the burning buildings all the time. She also wished she could see her beloved champion take down a villain one or twice. She covered her phone and turned back when X-Zepher released the gale, and returned to cheering him on as he entered the building. Firemen and police were also helping with evacuation procedures.

Alex: I'll see you there! ( he runs back to his apartment as he makes it there he removes his contact lens as he puts on his new hero suit and he runs to his bike and he hops on as he drives to the scene after a few of the other heroes)

King: we should let the fire dep-

Alex: the safety ofthe civilians come first we worry about the perpetrators later you canto after them if you want il save these people myself if I have too ( he starts his watchs as he activates his power as he runs and jumps into the window on the 12 floor into the heart of the fire and where the survivors are still trapped) I have to hurry ( he runs through the building S he checks the rooms and he finds a room where 3 people are trApped in a room covered by parts of the collapsed ceiling) get away from the door! ( he kicks the door as He breaks it opened)

Announcer: Ahhh! The Newhero has jumped into the burning building on his own his he crazy or can he really do it oh wait it looks like several ofte heroes are splitting up some are chasing the rogue power users while others seems to head into the burning building!!! Wait X-zephyr has just Arrived on scene! It looks like he has managed to quell the fire Abit wait! ( Alex leaps from the building with 2 people over his shoulder as he jumps back into the building)

Alex: we have to hurry he may have quelled the fire but the building structure is weakened

X-Zepher flew through and threw any person he could out of the windows, then using air pockets to lower them safely to the ground. His work looked rushed but he had a system, it saved him the time between going out and back in. He traveled quickly, as he sensed the building was close to collapsing, his gale probably did not help the building's foundation much. "Seems like I'll have to hurry, I don't want to be trapped under rubble again..."

X=Zepher successfully cleared the building's upper portion when he met trails with Alex, "Hey Powerboy, did you clear everyone until you got here?" He said, noting that Alex had some super-strength aspect to his power.

Evan was dressed in his costume, he was walking up to the building with two people thrown over his shoulders when he is in front of the police officers he threw both of them to the the ground hard. "Power users. One rogue fire starter and one hero attempting to kill me for credit. He also took out the window of a fancy clothing store with a carelessly thrown fire hydrant, it's spewing water as we speak." The police officer looks dumbfounded and his face implies he doesn't know what to do with them. Evan shakes his head and sighs. "I'm sorry to get you involved, I just need you to make sure they don't wake up, if they do, feel free to shoot them." Evan turns to the burning building and sees on the inside of it there is one normal person crushed under debris. "Power users shouldn't exist, even with the good ones doing all they can not everyone can be saved." Evan looks to his side toward loud cheering noises coming from Eva, seeing her with her phone taking pictures of a hero Evan didn't care for. "It seems the arrogant heroes get fangirls to come to tragic scenes and gush about them being so great." Evan says this just loud enough for the girl to hear.

Alex: ( he runs as he sees the man crushed under the debri) dammit!!!( he punches the wall nearly destroying the whole wall out of frustration) What's the point of these damn powers if we can't save people ita not right it's all thanks to these rogue power users ( he Spots two children under the rubble it looks like they were beig protected by the man) damn ( he clears the rubble away as he licks up the two scared children)

Boy: ahh!!! No it's another monster

Alex: (removes his mask so the kids can see his face and they calm Down luckily there are no cameras left in the buildings hey no no no look I'm just a regular guy like you okay what's your names?

Boy: b-Ben

Girl: carolyn

Alex: listen Ben, Carolyn I'm gonna get you guys Out of here I just need you guys to hold on tight ( he glAnces at his watch whih reads 1 minute as he puts the mask back on) hey listen wind guy this buildings going down we've cleared the building so we need to get out of here now ( he rushes through the hall dodging collapsing debri as he makes it to the window and he dives out) agggghh!!!!! ( the timerreads 4 seconds and right when he lands on the ground below his watch reads 0:00 and it's flashing red as he sets the kids down as they run to their parents and almost immediately he's swarmed by Abunch of people with thanks and praise as he looks for X-zepher) he better of made it out

Eva looked on in amazement snapping photos of her hero in work. She caught her eye on the new guy, when he jumped out but didn't catch why. Seconds after the building collapsed. "Zephie? Zephie?" She frantically grabbed another onlooker's arm, "Where's Zephie? I don't see him!"

Everything seemed hazy, he probably scored a concussion, but X-Zepher knew this feeling all too well. He was trapped under rubble. And if he counted right, it was a few stories of rubble too. X-Zepher rubbed his head, "Didn't die this time... dammit." He began to pull in air to where he was, he would need it if he wanted to escape without sending debris everywhere. He slowly moved the rubble covering him directly out of the way. It was then that he noticed his arm had been pierced. "And it's only Tuesday..." His body was wrapped in air and the wind above him worked like a drill, digging it's way to the top. One he was free he held up his impaled arm. "I need a doc. And possibly some Bourbon."

Mariah had decided to sit this fight out and watch from the sidelines, making sure that she was far enough away that no one would recognize her . She wasn't interested in earning points for a title. She just wanted to make sure that people remained safe, and since both X-Zepher and Alex were pulling civilians out of the blaze, she didn't get involved. There was that, and the fact that she wasn't completely focused at the moment anyway.

"Enjoying the show?" asked a voice behind her. She started to jump, but immediately recognized the voice and remained still. "Didn't want to get out there and take points away from our new 'King', I take it?"

"I suppose so..." she replied, wrapping her arms around her waist. Footsteps told her that the man behind her was drawing closer, but it wasn't the only clue. She felt him more mentally than she did physically, even with her blocks still in place.

"Let's just hope that it comes down to him and the King for the win. It would be an interesting show, wouldn't it?"

"You think he won't?"

"He may, he may not. But if things work out the way I want them to, I doubt he will. You will get what you want, however, Mariah."

"Great..." she said, closing her eyes as a hand reached around her, brushing her hair away from her face.

"Have you changed your mind? Do you no longer seek your reward?" he asked, a animalistic smirk sinking into his voice. She paused, her heart in her throat, but ultimately shook her head 'no'. "Good," he replied before jumping back into the shadows, leaving her alone once more.

Alex: { he felt something off in the air when the man disappeared into the shadows but he shrugged it off as he plays with his watch so it reads the normal time as he turns around too X-Zepher} Dude that was awesome i can't believe you made it!

Announcer: HERO! Hey HERO! { the camera crew surrounds alex as a ambulence arrives to help x-zepher} your the new hero and your proving it you may not have caught anyone today but you certaintly saved tons of innocent people who do they have to thank!

Alex: hmmm....ummm I guess you can call me Zetman

Announcer: you heard it here folks its official Our new Hero has a name an his name is ZETMAN! { the crowd cheers for both the heroes on scene as well as the folks watch at home as Alex moves up in the ranks}

Alex: it seems like everything is done here so { he hops onto his bike before glancing towards king} I'm going to beat him someone like him doesnt deserve to call himself a hero he only focused on the prepetrators he was willing to leave the civilians to wait for the help when we were allready there

Completely ignored, Evan turned around and kicked the unconscious rogue power user he brought back in the ribs. A camera zoomed in on the rogue for a close up. Then shifted to Evan as one reporter walked up to him. "So Zalthorn, it seems you rather bring in criminals than save civilians. Can you tell us why you chose to capture him and beat up a fellow hero over saving the innocent." Evan looks away for a brief second then turns his head back to face the camera. "I ran into the rogue power user on my way over, but this loser..." Evan points to the hero he brought with him to the scene. "Was far behind him shouting at everyone not to capture the bastard because he was his." Evan shrugged. "Since he was there while i was getting to the fire, I figured it would be a quicker end if I just took him out there and continued on my way. Long story short, the hero didn't like that I got the criminal and picked a fight he just couldn't win. Now don't get me wrong, I would have helped save the civilians but I couldn't let the rogue get away and go starting more fires." Evan pushes the camera away and looks at Alex. "And Zetman, good job saving those kids. Although it was definitely not smart to punch the wall of a collapsing building, I can't hold that against you since you saved them." Evan crosses his arms and rolls his eyes, disgusted at himself for complementing a power user.

Alex: thanks I guess ( he points at the rogue) I like the way you handled the situation on your end as well you didn't look it at the party but I have to say I think you impressed me you handled that situation The right way dot let anyone tell you other wise ( he smirks when he looks at Evan and x-zepher) I'll be seeing you guys I suppose

[Haseo{Terror of Death}]

X-Zepher smiled and introduced himself to Zetman, "Name's X-Zepher, glad you helped, the kind could give two shakes for the people in a burning building. I like your guts kid, maybe I'll catch you on the flip." His arm was being casted to he offered his left hand for a handshake, "No disrespect, just the arm's got a pipe. You know how it is." X-Zepher was placed in an Ambulance and whisked away.

Eva could only see her hero escape, she did not see the pipe until she reviewed her photos and in a distress pushed her way towards the new hero. "Do you know what happened to Zephie?" She shouted over the ambulance's sirens.

Alex: ( he shakes X-zephers hand as hes about to drive off he hears the girls voice) zephie? You mean x-zepher? He's right over there ( he points to x-zepher) the building collapsed but it looks like he made it with only a pipe in the arm ( he drives off as the situation clears as he waves off zalthorn and x-zepher as he drives back to his apartment and he gets dressed into his normal street clothes from earlier as he puts his contacts) allright I guess I should get going ( he walks out of his apartment and head back to where he was earlier but he stops first at a vendor to get a hot pretzel)

"I heard that you and X-Zepher got everyone out alright," Mariah called as she walked up behind Alex, a tender smile on her lips. "And that you also moved up in the ranks a good little bit because of it. I must say, I'm quite impressed..."

She opened her mental blocks and began to speak to him that way so that the bystanders wouldn't hear what she was about to say. A few of the bystander's thoughts began leaking into her mind, but she quickly knocked them back. Years of training had thankfully allowed her to do so. "I also see you picked a name after all, 'Zetman'. I think it was the best choice for you."

Alex: ( he turns to look over his shoulder as he finishes the pretzel) Yeah I figured I needed to give myself a name eventually you decided to lay back for that last one I don't think I saw you there anyway I wonder how kings gonna react to my boost in the rankings and it's only my second day it's looks like this though.... ( the man who was buried under the rubble comes to his mind as he looks away real quick) I couldn't save him

"It's alright," Mariah said softly as she stepped closer to him. She took his hand in both of hers and tightened her grip just enough to try to be comforting. Everyone had been in the spot he was now in, and it was awful every single time. Mariah recalled her first official 'loss,' which also led to another death flashing across her memories. She tried to keep it from flashing into Alex's memories, but they were currently mentally connected. Unless he hadn't been paying attention to her at all, he would see her sister lying dead before her. "It's hard the first few times, but you have to just focus on what good you did instead." She smiled as tenderly as she could, but she was still a little flustered from her own earlier incident.

Alex: ( as he sees her memory he doesn't let it show but the image of a little boy crying before the raging flames of a burning city ashes through his mind and he unconsciously hopes she doesn't notice his as well as he changes the subject) yeah I guess your right I was able to save the two kids and everyone else it's just....I can't help but feel like if I was there a second earlier I could of saved all of them ( he looks her in the eyes) you okay you seem flustered?
