The path to be a hero

"I wouldn't cross me, but I'm not interested in the title, so if that's what you mean, then no. You don't need to watch out for me." His second question made her pause, looking around for a large screen on any of the local buildings. Some had invested in them to make viewing the 'games' a little easier for everyone. She didn't see one immediately, but caught the corner of one on a building around the corner from them. It looked like it was currently on the last two rogues who were being taken down by another hero.

"I can't tell you why they decided to start commercializing it all, but my guess is money. That's the reason most people do things like this, after all. That, or because it appealed to their more primal instincts. People fighting, 'magic powers' being used for both good and evil, et cetera, et cetera. Who knows? But yes, you did make the first showing for this season. And you interested them, apparently. Never a bad start for someone interested in the title..." she added as her gaze fell back on him. "Looks like the 'game' is almost over for today."

Alex: yeah I guess they are Almost done I believe I should be heading Out myself the hied said he's holding some sort of start of the new season party tonight if I see you there maybe I'll even ask you to dance miss psyren ( he laughs playfully) if I rerember how to get there that is ( he puts his helmet back on) I should get going I guess I'll see you there? but he's lucky I'm gonna show up *yawn* it's been along day ( he streches as he begins to walk off) I'll see you around Something doesn't feel right though I can't shake it ever since I arrived today

'The party... That is tonight,' she thought as another wave of cheers erupted from somewhere around her. Most likely from the large screen, she realized as she looked back up. It looked like a celebration had begun already with the amount of cheering crowd and confetti she saw on the screen. It looked similar to the end of the Superbowl, but at the same time was nothing like it. The entire crowd was ecstatic. The first round of the games were officially over. Alex was now out of sight, so she turned to leave as well. 'I suppose I have a party to go get ready for. I wonder what the others are thinking about this newcomer... I'll certainly find out tonight.'

Alex:( he gets back to his bike as he arrives at his apartment there are A bunch of unopened boxes all over the place as Alex gets changed Into fancy party clothes) he did say lack tie affair ( he gets changed into the appropriate clothes as he as he looks at his watch and he heads back on again on his bike towards hero hq where the party is being held and he has a mask in his back pocket but for now he arrives as himself) no need for mask yet

Mariah arrived at the headquarters after a good number of other users had arrived, all of whom she recognized. Most of the people there so far were the usual crowd. All of them were talking about the first day out loud, but mentally the topic of choice was the 'new guy.' It wasn't surprising by any means, as she had expected it to be that way, but what they were thinking was interesting. 'Not only does the crowd like him so far, but most of the other users are fascinated as well... Hmm...'

She made her way to the back of the room, the tail of her black form fit gown flowing behind her. She took a seat at an empty table and smoothed the front of her dress against her legs. The mask she had been instructed to wear to the party matched her dress perfectly, black with a hint of sequins. She began looking around the room, accepting a drink from a waiter walking around. She took a sip and continued to search for certain people in the growing crowd.

Alex: ( he walks to the place without his mask on) wow so this is the rest of the heroes huh? I can't really tell who's who like who's normal and who's a power user... ( he leans against a wall as he looks at his mask before he places it so I have to wear a mask all might long huh? Anyway I guess I can go mingle but it's not like the party started yet ( he places his hand in his pockets as he continues to lean against the wall and he closes his eyes for a brief moment as he sees the face of a little girl) This place is almost too fancy for me...sigh how long has it been ( he gets startled awake by the announcement of the chief)

Chief: heroes and civilians alike I welcome you to this years hero masquerade part among you are the heros who protect this cityb along with our newest hero is here as well know then let the party commence as we make preparations to welcome our newst hero to the organization ( the party begins as Alex walks off to look around at the ballroom floor as he notices Mariah)...hmm? ( he walks over towards her) what you just sitting by yourself?

"I figured you would show up eventually. This party is basically for you after that fascinating entrance you pulled earlier," Mariah replied with a light smile."Every hero is talking about you, you know? They all find your powers interesting, and the person behind the helmet even more so... I must say, I'm in agreement with them, but nowhere near as interested as half of the civilians are. Some are already thinking of fanclub names in your honor." A small laugh accompanied her last sentence, and she looked up to see his reaction. "Don't worry; No one's mentioned a fanclub name out loud yet so you're safe from that for now. Come time for the next round of the games, however... That's a different story."

Alex: Odds are I'm not half the hero everyone of these people are.. im sorry miss have we met before i don believe i know- ( he laughs) sorry i couldnt do it with a straightface what you think their gonna make bobble heads after me? jeez I haven't even decided on a name they have given me yet this is Abit much... Here's a good question miss how'd you know it was me I was sure I look different than before)...so these people are interested in the man behind the " helmet" you say? that's surprising I can assure you I'm nothing special or maybe I'm actually a billionaire who lives in a mansion and has his own butler ( he begins to laugh) like a billionaire has time to save the world anyway how did you recognize me I was sure it was dark enough for my face to not be seen clearly and I am wearing this mask then you really are good

Evan had entered his house hours ago and has just woken up from a nap, he rubs his eyes which have black circles around them. "Great I'm slightly hungover, not to mentiong the 'heroes' are having a party. I really don't want to go but they might get the wrong idea if I keep avoiding them. Evan stands up and groans loudly, he walks to the bathroom where he washes his face with cold water to wake himself up fully. "I hope no one tries to talk to me." Evan puts on his mask, a hard polymer red mask with silver decorations that covers half his face. To conceal his hair he ties it back and puts a metal old fashioned military helmet spray painted the same colors as the mask, What stand out most on this helmet are two embedded cat's eyes on the front that glow a deep crimson in the dark. Evan makes a call after putting on his usual red coat and jeans. Soon after a van with fully tinted windows drives up and takes Evan to hero headquarters. After a long drive they arrive and Evan exits taking some kind of medicine from the driver. "Thanks, I owe you one." He walks into the building after shoving the pills into his jacket pocket.

"Two reasons: The first being that your eyes are very distinctive. The second being...Well, I'll let you guess..." she replied silently. "And yes, bobble heads are being thought of already," she added just for fun. She loved watching people's reactions the first time she was able to communicate with them with her powers. It was especially fun when they didn't even notice that her lips remained completely still until a few minutes into the conversation. She was wearing a light red lipstick tonight, though, so it would be much easier to see that her lips never moved.

Alex: ( he looks around Briefly as he then notices the voice is in his head) Great now I'm hearing voices that can't be any good ( he then looks towards Mariah) oh your a telepath huh?...that's pretty amazing you have two powers? So the second I have to guess you say? Hmmmm and wow who knew my eyes were that noticeable under this mask you must have keen eyes yourself do I have to guess at the second reason you noticed it was me I have to say it smoggy have to do with your telepathic abilities

Chief: now then I believe it's time we introduce you to our new hero now then please come on stage would you

( the lights dim as they shine in Alex as he walks up to the stage as the chief introduces him as hero TVs newst hero and introduces him to the The party's guests as ex introduces himself as the future king of heroes as if calling out the current king Ans the crowd enjoys his vigor and additude and after wards Alex goes around introducing himself to the other heroes)

Alex: *yawn* man who knew heroes were so fancy I guess I need to think up a hero name soon...( he begins to think up possible names)

"Great, another arrogant power user we certainly need more of those." Evan shakes his head in disapproval then proceeds to a dark corner and leans against the wall pulling the pills from his pocket and slides one under his mask putting one in his mouth. "I wonder how long it takes this stuff to kick in." Evan looks up at the roof "I don't think there is another room above us, so why would there be people up there?" Evan shrugs it off and slides down the wall until he hits the floor he glances briefly at Alex and Mariah and then mutters to himself "Arrogant people must have arrogant friends."

Mariah had nodded in reply to his answer before he had been called away, and as he was introduced to the community she paid special attention to everyone's reactions. She watched carefully as he introduced himself as well, getting a special kick out of people's reactions when they physically met him. 'He might actually have a chance at claiming the title if he can back up this attitude he's got going on... I wonder how the current titleholder will react to all of this, though... As soon as the 'King' arrives, things will really be interesting...' She smirked at the thought, but shifted it to more of a smile as soon as she saw a familiar face enter the room. 'Now things are really going to get fun...'

She stood and walked onto the dance floor, meeting a man wearing a mask that covered the entire top portion of his face mid-floor. "Hey there, handsome," she said as he took her hand, placing his second hand on her hip. "Long time no see."

"And you as well, my dear," the man said with a smile. "I see you've been getting cozy with the newcomer."

"He interests me. What can I say?" Mariah said as he pulled her closer.

"More so than me, Mariah?" His voice grew slightly hard as he spoke, his grip tightening a little as well. Her eyes widened behind the mask momentarily, but other than that, she remained calm.

"Never. You know better than that, sir," she whispered, closing her eyes as he pulled her against his shoulder, their feet continuously moving them around the middle of the dance floor.

"That I do... That I do."

Alex: ( he bumps into a imposing man)...oh sorry about th- hey your the king of heroes Desperado king?! ( the crowd faces the twoas a silence fills the air)

King: so your the new hero... Your just a kid....I hear your after the title...well than lets see what your made of ( he holds out his hand)

Alex: ( he looks at king as he smirks) you sure you want to offer a simple commoner like me your hand king? I might just take the crown away from you ( he takes his hand as king squeezes tightly that would cause any normal power use fall to their knees as Alex squeezes tighter the tension between the two can hereof throughout the room)

King: heh you talk big kid do you really think you have what it takes to beat me?... but rerember were all heroes seeking for the glory and we are here to protect this cit-

Alex: don't compare yor reAsons to being a hero to mine I'm going to protect every single person out there i dont need money or glor (he sticks his hands in his pocket as he walks past king).... I'm not gonna lose to someone like you....( he glances towards Mariah as he smirks at her his smirk shows his Confidence and it almost says "flashy enough?")

King: ( his face remains calm) I'll have to show him the reason I'm king it looks like this years going to be fun after all... ( he continues to mingle with the other heroes)

Mariah had been facing Alex during his short confrontation, and couldn't believe what she had seen. His smirk afterword especially caught her off guard. 'He's insane...' she thought to herself, biting her lower lip to help fight off the laughter that begged to be freed.

"You're going to get yourself in trouble if you keep this act up, sweetie," she thought to Alex before she was swept back in the dance, turning her away from him. Her partner watched Alex go back to meet the rest of the crowd with a faint scowl on his face, but otherwise did nothing. He felt something touch his shoulder, pulling his gaze off of Alex immediately. Mariah was laying against his shoulder willingly now.

"What is it?" he asked softly, so only she could hear.

"Nothing. I'm just focusing on the party," she replied equally as soft. He knew that she meant she was eavesdropping on people's mental conversations now, but he wasn't sure who she was listening to.

"Listening to the new kid?"

"No. Listening about him."

Alex: I can't believe long though I was a kid I'm 19 for god sakes ( he mutters to himself and then stops when he hears her voice) if your still listenig to my thoughts Eh I'll take my Chances Life's boring if you play it safe but maybe you might be right though it's alittle unfortunate I guess someone else beat me to treating you to a dance I guess there always next time.... ( he glances back at the masked man who was scowling at him earlier but shirts showing it doesn't bother him as he lean against the wall watching people dance as finally a woman walks over to him asking him to dance and Alex walks to the dance floor) I might as well start to get to know my fellow heros..

She had been waiting for a response from Alex, and as soon as she got it, she couldn't help but smile into her dance partner's shoulder. "Feel free to steal me away at any time, if you wish, future King..." she replied from across the dance floor.

"You're really focusing hard, Mariah. Are you finding out anything interesting about this new kid?" her partner whispered in her ear as the song began to change.

"Nothing you would care to hear, sir," she replied as she stepped back a little, pulling herself off of his shoulder. "Just the typical 'oh's' and 'ah's' of a newcomer. Everyone here seems to be as clueless about where or why he's here as we are. The King doesn't like him, though, for obvious reasons..."

"Naturally. But you truly have no news worthy to report? You still remember our deal, do you not?" he whispered with a promising tone to his voice. A tone of knowing.

"No sir... Nothing..." Mariah looked back toward Alex, hoping that if nothing else, their 'conversation' would make tonight somewhat bearable.

Alex: ( after a dance he bows to the woman he was dancing with) now then miss I'd love to dance once again but unfortunately I have to meet others it seems dancing is the easiest way ( he bows respectfully) Oh your saying you'd bed okay if the newcomer asked you to a dance I don't think your little friend would be too happy About it he's been giving me odd looks for the past while so here's my answer ( he remains leaning against the wall as he glances a his watch and he walks over to the two as he bows respectfully) I'm sorry sir mind if I steal your dance partner for a dance?

Before Mariah's partner could reply, she pulled her hand from his and laid it against his cheek gently. She spoke softly, but it held an undertone that only he would understand to it. "It's been nice catching up with you, but I do have to catch up with a few other friends as well. We'll dance again later." With a smile, she pulled her hand away only for her partner to grab it, putting it to his lips.

"Of course. Enjoy yourself." With that said, he bowed and left the dance floor, leaving Mariah and Alex alone. She took his hand in hers and smiled before leaning into him and following his lead. "I owe you one," she thought almost unintentionally. "Damien is an old friend of mine," she said aloud, though she still spoke softly. Too many prying ears were paying attention to them, she noticed. "He's known me longer than anyone else here. We always share a dance or two when these things come up."

"Watch what you say aloud, by the way. The crowd is all ears for our conversation right now..." she warned silently, though her face never betrayed her quiet conversation.

Alex: oh Damien seems like a solid dude I should say I guess you guys are on good terms if you know each other by name wow your certainly secretive now why is it their so interested in our conversation what do you mean by I owe you exactly also is this Damien fellow a hero as well?
