Valkyria Chronicles
I'm just revisiting old games, and so far I never seem to get tired of this.

Got it along with BlazBlue when I got my PS3. I love it so far, but I haven't played that much of it...

"If the worlds going to end for me anyways..." Zack looked at the teacher and then back, "Then what's it matter if I embarrass myself?"

Re: Valkyria Chronicles
Depends on what kinds of games you like. It has very unique gameplay, kind of a mix of a turn-based SRPG and a third-person shooter. I like it, but that's because I usually like games with unique gameplay *cough*BatenKaitos*cough*Lief wrote:My cousin got this game and never even opened it, he just suddenly passed it to me like it was a virus...two months later...still haven't opened it...maybe i should

Re: Valkyria Chronicles
Haha, I've always loved turnbased games, and some with really crappy storylines at that, just for the way it plays. I've never really played and TPS type games due to my affixation on FPS such as Halo and COD. But i think i could get into this should i try it out. It looks quite enteresting and if i throw in my spare time then....GyppyGirl2021 wrote:Depends on what kinds of games you like. Re: Valkyria Chronicles
Yeah. Me, I'm a fan of Fire Emblem, and I really think that's not a bad comparison for the turn-based aspect of VC... although there are clearly some differences, it did give me a sort of FE vibe the first time I played it.
I used to be into FPS, but never really got into TPS... ah well

Yeah, it gives off that Fire Emblem feel to it i'll probably enjoy it. FFT and all the Fire Emblems were my favorite series for the longest time.GyppyGirl2021 wrote:Yeah. I used to be a Halo-freak until recently actually, but i haven't played enough TPS games, (unless archery in skyrim counts?) so this game might prove adversarial for me

Re: Valkyria Chronicles
the RPG elements also add to the challenge, you dont level up individual units here, you level up by class.

Re: Valkyria Chronicles
I think with me, it was more just the "PLAYER PHASE" "ENEMY PHASE" thing that I associate so strongly with FE. XDLief wrote:Yeah, it gives off that Fire Emblem feel to it i'll probably enjoy it. FFT and all the Fire Emblems were my favorite series for the longest time.

It's not TOO bad. Movement is done in real-time, but actual attacking pauses the game so that you can take aim and stuff. The biggest issue I have is interception fire, which basically makes it so that you have to end your turn IMMEDIATELY after attacking...
And yes, I actually liked the leveling-by-class thing. It's another unique aspect I liked. XD

Re: Valkyria Chronicles
Ugh, at low levels interception fire is a death sentence, but if your level is high enough then interception fire will barely scratch you, just keep an eye out for gun turrets.GyppyGirl2021 wrote:I think with me, it was more just the "PLAYER PHASE" "ENEMY PHASE" thing that I associate so strongly with FE. Which is pretty much why I'm going to abuse the skirmish feature to hell and back... XD

Re: Valkyria Chronicles
oh and I forgot to tell you to watch out for land mines, those things can be worst than interception fire, equipping the "dud mine" potential might help but its kinda random so still you should be careful around mines.

Don't know if I've gotten that far yet, but it does sound like something to watch out for... *sweatdrop*Kaori wrote:oh and I forgot to tell you to watch out for land mines, those things can be worst than interception fire, equipping the "dud mine" potential might help but its kinda random so still you should be careful around mines.

Re: Valkyria Chronicles
midway you'll encounter them, at chapter 5, you cant see them but if you hear a "click" sound from your unit when they're walking, let them stay very still and have an engineer remove the mine with their tool.
