What online games do you play?

I want to play Ragnarök Online, but my computer is also s***. I have all the necessary "prerequisites" to install most MMORPGs, but I am low on GB (I have an XP Professional...with NINE GIGABYTES!!).

Runescape - Stopped playing since I cancelled membership due to the game not wanting to start up. Got that fixed, but my mum won't lemme pay for membership again T_T ( I was a level 64 Primary Melee, Magic requires a helluva lot of cash)

Ragnarök Online - As I stated before, low on GB. I think I'll be a Paladin or Monk or something. I like Tank characters a lot...

World of Warcraft - *cries* I can't install it, Low on memory...(I mean GB, again) I want to start out as an Undead Rogue or a Orc Hunter. Then I'll use whichever I didn't use for my main, then a Tauren Shaman (perhaps). For Burning Crusade, I can't decide between a Blood Elf Mage or Paladin. As I said, I like Tank characters, but I fear that BE Pallys might be overpopulated (like NE Hunters), so as far as I know, it'll be a Mage unless someone can object to my claim...(By the way, I AM "Rollin' Horde")

And THAT'S how I was born.

Why do I see so many FFXI 'retired' players?

Oh the reasons...

1.You can only solo effectively till about level 12.

2. To group to level up at higher levels, you HAVE to have your group set up with jobs of defined roles (tank, healer, damage, damage, offtank/damage, mage). Problem is, it takes a long time to get a group together of people (6 in a party). It usually takes 30min-1hr to get a party together.

3. Then there's the trek to the camp site. That can take 15 min or more. Once you're at an area with good monsters to kill, you have to find a place to camp your party...and compete with other parties already there (for monsters and places to camp!).

4. Grinding. All you do once you're at camp is kill the same monsters over and over again using the same tactics each fight... for hours on end to hopefully get half or one level of xp... seriously.... and if you die, then you lose XP (usually 30-45min worth >.< ).

5. Story is minimal (for most of the time you put into it), quests are hard, vague, and pretty much not worth the trouble in the end. There is a lot of good story content, but in order to experience it you have to have lots of friends to go with you (defined roles again, but story missions usually are much more difficult than just leveling up. That means that not only do you have to have people, you have to have GOOD people. Not so easy to find all the time :/

6. Making money is a hard task that can take up a lot of your time playing the game.

All in all, FFXI was great when I first got it. It has great visuals, and an EXCELLENT soundtrack (I really miss it a lot). But the cons just outweigh the pros by 1000 times.

Thats basically the same description as all other MMORPGs that are out besides WOW. Now most are gearing towards the solo quest rather than needing ten million bunch of friends to help you but thats until you hit the max level and then it turns into a regular MMORPG where you need to do the same above abielt the losing experience part but all in all taking up an MMORPG is taking another job, unless your one of those casuals who play like 1 hr a fortnight or something.

I'm a noob when it comes to MMORPG's (.hack doesn't count), I play alot of Sports Games (especially golf) online. I also play Tetris DS via Wifi connection. I really want to get into a MMORPG but don't know which one to pick. Which one is easiest (besides Maple Story)? I also want something that has voice chat and preferably for PS2 or a handheld console. I used to play Phantasy Star for Sega Master System but I'm sure it's a new game by now. Is WOW PC only? Also, what is the point of private servers. Is it to avoid monthly fees? If so I want in!!!! Sorry for all the questions.

Ah the big answer to want to play a MMORPG game, I say dont even touch it at all or even go there at all. Taking on a MMORPG is akin to taking on a job. You have to play it all the time so you are up to date in gear/equip and tactics.

Your probably right. I have a friend who used to never leave the house and used to call in sick to work just to play Lineage 2 for hours and hours. I got a wife, a 2 year old daughter, a full-time job and am taking 12 credits this semester. I didn't even finish G.U. vol. 1 until yesterday or the day before I can't even remember. But I'm sure that with an online game I'd have to put in more than 40 hours in 6 months.

Pretty much the only online game i play is FFXI. Although i really would like to play PSU online since thats been a lot of fun for me offline i realized over the weekend (lol me and my bro pretty much spent the weekend playing that game and leveling our characters, it was actually pretty fun ^_^) Also i still want to play PSO online as well, but from what i hear the servers are closed, which is kind of a bummer, well at least til EP 4 is released, unless BB was ep 4, in that case nvm.

I only devote myself to one online game, and that is World of Warcraft. After I kind of got addicted like 3 years ago to it, I really don't want to devote myself to anything else. One is enough for me, and I prefer most other games because I can hope in whenever I want, and they also have a much better story and character depth than MMOs do.

We are still waiting for chapters 17 and 18 that were released months ago at JP server, though.

Well, if you have Squall Bullet Hole (the 1st MB skill), they are a joke =P

Also, know that Wilder and Beast demons never stop aggroing you, no matter your Lv.

Meh, whatever, haven't used any elemental skill on those in quite a while (read: in 5+ months), except for my accomplished aeros's Hurricane Cannon (which is Force anyway) lol
