Persona 4
I got it recently, and I'm having a really tough time. I'm fighting the boss to get the 5th party member I assume, and I'm just insanely overwhelmed in terms of strength that everyone in my party just keeps dying. I'm not really enjoying the game because of that.
I know I can always leave the dungeon, come back another day when I've healed, train, repeat, then eventually just skip to the top floor whenever I want, but that's a real pain. Is there any strategies I can use to make this easier?
As you can tell, I'm not one for the grind. The only real games that make it fun for me are Pokemon and Monster Hunter.

Re: Persona 4
Look for skills that you desire from a persona like lightning, fire, healing, frost and wind. Should have a persona that specialize in each attribute, so you can switch on the fly against the enemy. Fuse a persona to level them up and get the higher rank skills. It's mostly trial and error when your trying to create your new persona with the skills you really want from inheritance. So you'll have a higher level persona for the MC. Hopefully you tried to build up social links with people at school and party members. That's one way to get higher level rank of skills for the MC. If you're having trouble healing, level Yukiko to level 33 for Diarma or 43 for Mediarama. Yosuke has Diarama too, his last healing spell is at level 34. Bring the MC, Yukiko, Yosuke and Chie for Rie's dungeon.
Re: Persona 4
Ugh. All my characters are at level 23 right now, and it takes SO long to level up...

Re: Persona 4
Oh, you don't even have Kanji yet. Ok, once you get to him, he has two sides. Nice guy can be damage with physical attacks, but is immune to magic and the tough guy can be hurt with any magic damage, but is immune to physical damage. They buff Shadow Kanji a lot, so debuff him with Yosuke. You have almost a month to save him. Use Yukiko's media heals a lot in that fight. Take advantage of an enemies weakness as much as possible if they have any. Take out his tough guy and nice guy and Kanji is much easier to deal with. Beware Yosuke is weak to lightning, so guard if he starts using lightning magic. You don't want an extra attack from him.
Re: Persona 4
If he mainly attacks with lightning I'll just switch to Oberon or Andra since they null lightning.
Re: Persona 4
Watch out for physical attacks on that one too, as iirc the minions tend to use phys attacks every now and then.

Pressed the wrong button, eh?
Dude, I wanna punch you in the face so badly right now...

So toss on my best physical evasion items, use a lightning null, and watch them lose?

Re: Persona 4
Oy vey, I hated fighting Shadow Kanji so much. If memory serves, I believe I used Yukiko for healing and magic, Chie for physical attacks, Yosuke to debuff, and MC I had kind of a combination of all with different Personas (Personae?). I think I remember that Shadow Kanji's strongest attack was a physical attack, so if that's the case try to use a Persona that's strong or immune to those. You should probably look it up to confirm, though, because it's been a while since I played myself.

Re: Persona 4
Yeah I just beat him yesterday. Had some Pink Ninja guy that was great with physical. All I really did was kill the buffing minion shadow kanji had, the killed the one on the right with magic, then just attacked him to death with MC and Chie while guarding with Yosuke and healing constantly with Yukiko.
On a side note, naughty nurse for Devil Arcana is my favorite.

Dunno, he seems like the kind of person that doesn't even bother learning in-game mechanics (like how to plan fusions) and goes around saying he knows everything just because he got true ending after looking at some FAQ :s
If you read this and feel offended, prove me wrong instead of just complaining >B]

Re: Persona 4
Hey now, everyone, less of the flaming people that aren't even here and more of the on-topic discussion and such, please.
I HAVE MODERATOR POWERS AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE THEM!
*waves fake pistol around wildly*
Also, Erranty, if memory serves, the bosses after Shadow Kanji tend to get easier after this. I remember Shadow Yukiko and Kanji kept killing me over and over and over AND OVER, and then after that they got easier. So you have that to look forward to.

Re: Persona 4
Yeah, I was hoping so. I was really more interested in the story and persona collecting than challenging gameplay. If I wanted that I'd go back to playing Monster Hunter or Devil May Cry on Dante Must Die mode.

Re: Persona 4
I think it mostly has to do with being able to use Personas that have better stats, spells, and resistances.

Re: Persona 4
Yeah, I did notice that. I went to my Status screen and I was like "What? Where are his stats? This is just his life experiences!" Then I realized that your stats are based solely on your Persona.
Re: Persona 4
That, and the fact that Shadow Yukiko is kind of a wake up call boss.Azure Knight wrote:I think it mostly has to do with being able to use Personas that have better stats, spells, and resistances.
Only boss that actually gave me problems was Shadow Yukiko, and I played it on the hard (or whatever it's called) difficulty. After playing P3, the direct commands on P4 made it much easier =X

The Beatiful Shadow Yukiko is really tough! x_X
Yes, that difficulty is called Hard. But... I'm playing in the Normal Difficult.
H-Hey hidora! Don't tell me you play all the games in hard difficult at your first playtrough?? o_Ô"
