So what is going to happen to this forum in the future?

DRAMA! We've been around since 2003 - this site is my baby. When .hack ends (ie: all media out in the U.S.) then you can think about the site closing. We're still far off, we've got the Link game (maybe a pipedream at this point), Quantum OVAs, Manga(s), and Novel(s), and a movie. That's at minimum 1.5 years until everything is out and about in the U.S. and other parts of the world; and who knows what CC2 will announce by then, or if this is indeed the end of .hack, as stated.

Then, one of us could join CC2 and make them do a new .Hack// OVA, Game, Anime or even Novel, and, it would be great if they revived, Fragment, or do a game like fragment, but in the R:2 Version

I find it funny that AuraTwilight pretty much played the role of Aura and left the boards just like how she left The World. lol As far as the boards dying? I'd say we have a good 2-3 years before death is a concern. New .hack media is still out there you know.

.hack will end (as we know it) then get more added to it and everyone will flock back to this forum, and all the people that come back will be all "Oh hey guys how you been this past year! " and whats all this about sorrow leaving? When did this happen O.o;

@Ratsu- I have a funny feeling that Sorrow may be coming back, unless he left for complicated reasons, in which case he might not.
Either way, we can still hope he reappears at some point

As for how the site plays out, There's a massive aspect of 'cost vs. efficiency' we need to take into account, amirite?

I myself help manage a forum for the game series Lunar that originally was released for the SegaCD (1993). The series originally stopped after the second game and millions of remakes of the two first games were repeatedly thrown out there to the media. Being said that, the community at the Lunar forum was large and ambitious enough to keep the faith of the series alive even to this day. Eventually the developers and newer publishers released new games over the recent years and the possibility of even more coming soon. Just knowing the fact that a 18 year old game can still hold an active online community and be a factor in the developers releasing new games after such a long period of discontinuing the series. Any who, will CyberConnect2 ever release new cannon series of dothack or would they release remakes of the current games, only time will tell granted I doubt it much. But you don't need new games to keep the community alive and strong.
