Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

Post by Kaori »

Well it looks like the ork's have another WAAAAAGH! And it looks like the ultramarine's are the protagonists of this new game.

If any of you have played warhammer 40k then you would know about all this but I guess I could just introduce this, the story is rather basic: you are an ultramarine who is fighting an army of ork's to protect a destructive weapon known as an Imperator class Titan:

(yes I know it is a castle with legs and arms)
and even though it looks like every single 3rd person shooter out there it still has its unique features:
1: no need to worry about seeking cover(you've got a REALLY big suit of power armor).
2: the chainsaw sword is fully usable.
3: you can slaughter all the ork's your heart could ever desire.
Available for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Isn't there also a book to this? My friend is really into this series and he mentioned it as a book. I'm probably confusing it with something else.

I think it might be the "ultramarines" series of it, the franchise is kinda large and it never focuses on one group too long, I personally like the franchise because of its unique twist on the sci-fi genre: A futuristic Roman empire with fanatical soldiers and machine worship, heck they even have tech-priests and inquisitors.

I stumbled upon some gameplay footage from IGN:

Now I dont know about you warhammer 40k fans here but if I remembered correctly, space marines dont ride in valkyrie dropships.

The Space Marines commonly use Thunderhawk gunships as transport.
They're effectively just a Space Marine rendition of the Valkyrie gunships.

Thats the name I was looking for! Because if you look at that gunship they're riding it doesnt resemble a thunderhawk, and I'm pretty sure that the thunderhawk doesnt have open sides like that, just a back exit.

Of course, we still have to play it and see how well it holds up.
If the story is good, and the multiplayer is good-and by that I mean not just online play but also splitscreen play-then I think we have a winner.

its pretty much action packed but still too boring for my taste, I wanted a shrine world not a forge world, and I wanted blood ravens, but I guess people might just buy it for multiplayer.
