Demon's souls

"Holy arrows? Jut my luck" muttered Alexis as she shoved a skeleton to a trap and watched it get impaled by arrows, she got up and used a nearby shield to decapitate a nearby skeleton, "might as well keep this shield" she told herself as she got up and went to join the others fight off the skeletons.

Kale had disappeared when Namine mentioned holy arrows. It seemed it was something that could hurt a phantom, and if that were the case he wanted them. That and his blades were relatively ill suited for dealing with these bone heads, although the demonsbrandt seemed to be cutting through them like butter.

He reappeared cutting down a barrage of arrows aimed for Namine. As the archers turned to face him he brought the demonsbrandt back to the side through two sets of legs. The archers spread out to focus their attention on Kale. But now that he was fully healed he could move how he wanted to again and he used the bodies of the other archers for cover as he cut through them. When he was done with them he knocked one of the holy arrows and shot it into a particularly large skeleton that was giving Matthew a hard time. The other nearby skeletons hesitated for a moment before two of them turned on their companion. Kale took a moment to gather holy arrows for Matthew and himself. The others could more than likely handle the few remaining skeletons after all.

As soon as he saw the skeletons he was gone, if this place could revive skeletons, he didn't want to see what else it could do. He ducked into a small area and began clawing himself up the two walls that lined the cramped spot.

"well I think thats all of them" said alexis as they were burning the skeletons in order for them not to get up again, alexis then said "the cult that used to inhabit this island worshiped death and fallen heroes so I guess the fog materialized these forms of worship, expect more undead."

"Lovely." He commented dryly. The holy arrows collected he walked over to where Matthew had run off to and threw a quiver up to him before returning to the others. "You mentioned fallen heroes. What kinds of heroes are we talking about? Like big ones, little ones, ones that are so insignificant nobody ever heard of them. Cause I gotta say, those would be my favorites. They don't have any ridiculous abilities and don't stand three stories tall." He knocked an arrow and took point, if any more mechanical traps crossed their path he would disable them of course, if any more enemies showed up he would backpedal and get behind Alexis or Roy. They were the knights with the shields and heavy armor, he was just a guy with some rope.

"they worshiped all sorts of heroes, but they worship them in death rather than life, since you got those holy arrows they should fall over like a pile of bones." as they moved forward Alexis told them to halt and then drew her sword, as she moved it forward it sprung a trap and out came spikes with a fresh corpse still attached.

Kale stood back a dagger ready to toss in case she was stalling them for something other than the trap. When she triggered it he sighed, "Y'know, this is the reason I was up front. Believe it or not, I do know how to locate and disable those pesky things, if I'm given a chance to work. Unless of course you just keep me around for my dashing looks and charming personality?" He flashed her a toothy grin before turning his attention to the trap. He crouched next to Alexis, popped a panel off near the sword, and disabled the pressure plate causing the spikes to fall back into the floor. He bowed towards Alexis and turned on his heel taking the lead again. A short ways in he stopped abruptly, holding a fist up. There were several faint grooves in the floor ahead. Most likely from a swinging axe trap. "Y'all give me a little space. The trigger's within the danger zone on this one." He stepped carefully and knelt on the floor while he disabled the trap. "Alright, shall we get back on track now?"

"Good to know that you are reliable in these things" said Alexis, they continued onward until they found a locked door, "anyone want to guess whats inside?" she opened the door and when it opened they saw a man wearing white robes and approached him, he looked up and spoke "I prayed for help and god has sent you, my name is Urbain and I have been trapped here by a rogue, I assume you killed him?" "no but we think his body was that fresh corpse back in that trap" said Alexis as she helped him up, "this is saint Urbain?" she thought , "he seems harmless, I guess we could let him live, besides I bet if we kill him then the zealots would have our heads" whispered Alexis to Kale.

He shrugged whispering, "Frankly, I don't care. He looks harmless, yes, but appearances can be deceiving and your dear and fluffy sage wants him dead."

Kale scrunched his eyebrows together before commenting, "I doubt whoever brought him here wouldn't know how to get out without dying. That's just an all around stupid thing to do." He crossed his arms and looked around the room. "I know I'm going to regret saying this, but wasn't getting in here a bit too easy? I mean, I'm good, but scaling walls, fighting undead, and disabling a few traps hardly seems like it's in league with what I've been through in this hell thus far. And why is this place called the shrine of storms? The weather hasn't been that bad."

"Well, it's always easy to get in, Kale. It's getting out that's the problem," Namine said from where she was standing behind everyone else.

Urbain looked at her now as if just noticing her. "Namine? I see you're still as stealthy as ever. But what are you doing here?"

"We came here to fine you, Saint Urbain," she replied as she came forward. "All of your followers are getting more and more violent as time passes with you missing. I've done my best to calm them and rein back their fury, but they do not truly heed my words." She sighed. "You are needed back in the Nexus as soon as possible, Saint Urbain. They are all but ready to start a war with Sage Freke's followers."

"its not the weather but the-" before she could finish here sentence a large spike pierced the wall and Alexis yelled at them to run, "the cult here used to worship a being they called the storm god, they say he takes the souls of dead heroes to the afterlife, but before they do that they are said to be judged by a being known as the adjucator, its a fat grotesque thing that forbids them from eating birds and has a long tongue..." she and the group found themselves in a room and they saw a creature with matching descriptions, "me and my mouth...."

((Thought I would give KiteXX a chance to post, and then forgot about this.))
"Huh. Looks like a large toad. Well, in defense of your mouth, which is quite good at kissing I might add, I was the one who posed the question. Am I right in thinking we want to be not killed by that thing?" He started edging out to the side, bow drawn and arrow knocked, he didn't know what this thing was capable of, but in his experience as much fun as standing shoulder to shoulder with people was, the shadows and corners far away from other people tended to work better for him.

Namine chuckled at Kale's comment even as she stepped back to ready herself. "Yes, you would be correct, Kale. It's said the the massive cleaver in its hand 'eats' the lifeforce of anyone it cuts, meaning you get eaten twice if killed by this thing," Namine replied as the Sorceress, Urbain, and Alexis jumped aside of a powerful slash of the aforementioned, person-sized Cleaver. It wouldn't ake more then a hit or two to be killed with the way this thing was swinging.

He loosed an arrow and it buried itself in the fat side of the grotesque beast and it seemed to just ignore it. "I could probably turn it into a pin cushion and it wouldn't care." He grumbled to himself. Kale readied a holy arrow and was surprised at how effective it seemed. The shock nearly cost him his life when the loathsome demon swung in a wide arc leveled at Kale's head. He managed to avoid decapitation by rolling out of the corner, the blade sailed overhead and Kale let loose another holy arrow as he sprang to his feet.

"why wont it go down? We've been attacking it with all we've got and it still lives" thought alexis as she dodged another swing from its blade she then leapt on its arm and stabbed it but got tossed across the room, she hit the wall hard but thankfully she was already dead so it didnt hurt one bit, she got up and picked up a crossbow from a nearby corpse along with some bolts and shot the adjucator with it "hmm I guess I'll keep this too" she thought as she fired another bolt.

He put the arrow he was about to fire away. Alexis was right, something about this wasn't adding up. Kale ran up the wall as far as he could, catching himself when he ran out of momentum, and climbed until he was above the Adjudicator. He impaled a dagger into the wall and examined the monster while he hung there. Between the ring and the distraction the others were providing it ignored him. He readied the demonsbrandt, if he saw something that screamed weak point he would jump and go for it.

"It's body..." Namine continued sending a Spell after spell at it, but now she was more methodical about. The spells hit its flesh and disapated, almost as if it just... bounced. "What is this thing made of!?" she said angrily to herself as she dodged its long, chameleon-like tongue. She did not what to know if that affected Phantoms. Especially if she was to be the test subject. But the falling rubble did give her one plan as she stood and took out the overhang above it. The rubble fell and bounced off it, like everything else. Everything but it's small, thick skull. She confirmed this when it reeled back from a fireblast to the face and swung at her. It was something, at least, as she dodged. "The head! It may not be much, but it does something! Aim there!" she yelled from hiding.

"fire!" yelled alexis as she tried to use spells and the crossbow she picked up at the adjucator, after a while of fighting it, it finally groaned and died, "well we finally did it, lets move on" said alexis as the group trudged back to the arch stone and sent the sage to the nexus, "we cant leave yet, the demon's soul is still here" said alexis to the group.
