Re: Power of a God.
I wonder what's up with the captain...he seems a little off these past few days...
He shrugged to himself and looked around.
It's not my concern, Besides. Doc will make sure he's alright.

Re: Power of a God.
Doc nodded his understanding. There was a danger of the men losing heart or even an attempt at mutiny if they discovered what Roberts was sailing them towards. "Aye sir, if you will relieve me on deck I will check the rations and other supplies personally." He strode back out on deck to the forecastle relieving Barnabas. He shouted, "All hands, to the deck. I have an announcement."
Once everyone had assembled he began. "Men, we are about to embark on a quest for the greatest treasure of all. I won't lie to you, there are many perils that lie ahead of us. But we are THE Dread Pirates! WE are the story mothers tell their children to make them behave! WE are the terror that causes ships to keel at our approach! WE are the most fearsome band of cutthroats the world has ever seen! And WE will claim this treasure!" When the shouts of agreement had died down, "Now, back to your stations. We're setting out shortly. Davis, relieve Zack."

"Doc!" The boy was wandering around the ship "Doc! i've been told to find you!"
Roberts left the map locked away in his drawer before allowing himself to leave the room. "Men! There on the Horizen is a ship! That ship houses many valuables, mostly gold! None shall live! tie them to the cannons and hoist their bodies into the sea! and tonight Cook is creating a feast for your hard work -Excluded Zwei who will eat the remaining "Stew Suprise"- Rejoice men! For we shall retire Rich!"

Doc put a calming hand on the boy and he wore a bemused smile. "And find me you have. Who told you to find me and why?"

"Roberts told me to get a quick checkup and return to him..."
Roberts was once again at the captains wheel, their destination set. He seemed calmer than usual. Salt sat in his hat, and lay in specks throughout his hair, but he paid no mind to it. His eyes were as calm as the sea, but the crew knew how quickly they could become stormed over.

Re: Power of a God.
He quickly walked towards the cannons and took his place getting them ready if the ship decided to attack back.
I wonder what exactly it is where getting are selves into... he thought, picking up a ball and loading it into a cannon. Doc was good at avoiding saying something directly without people noticing. He realized that the first time he met Doc.

Re: Power of a God.
Doc nodded. "Ah, very well. Walk with me for a minute." Doc withdrew a small notebook as they walked through the hold and wrote down his report. He didn't much trust the memories of others, especially when it was his own report that was to be delivered. He tore out the page and handed it to the boy. "After you deliver this to the Captain find Zwei and tell him to send the recruit to me." He watched the boy run off and then made his way to his office. He had written a few medical supplies down on his report that he would like to get more of, but there wasn't anything urgent. So he set to making sure everything was secure while he waited.

Re: Power of a God.
"Doc?" The boy carried in the recruit, the body was still heavily damaged. "Roberts plan on recruiting him?"
"AHH!" he immediatley turned the ship around as a wave crashed over the ship, "ALL HANDS ON DECK! WE ARE CAUGHT IN THE HURRICANE! ALL HANDS ON DECK!"

Re: Power of a God.
He gestured for the boy to place Max on the table, and Doc asked in reply, "Is he still breathing?" The ship rocked almost tossing Max off the table. "You will only get yourself thrown off the ship if you go up there during this storm. Help me lash him down." Doc spoke calmly despite the storm. Despite the captain's order Doc's place was here, if someone got hurt, say by a snapped line, he would need to be ready to attend them. More importantly, the new recruit was not in good shape and he would need to work quickly in order to spare him as much bed rest as possible. The boy tied to the table so that he would not be tossed about nor toss about himself and get in Doc's way nor hurt himself, Doc withdrew his glasses from their case and began his work. Despite the rolling deck beneath him, Doc's legs kept him steady as he worked. The cabin boy did his best to stand out of the way and not to get thrown about the room.

Re: Power of a God.
Roberts gave up on steering, the ship would go where it wanted, He grabbed a shipline and tied it hurriedly around Smithers who was keeping the cannons in place. This ship rocked and Roberts went headfirst overboard, the only one with out a secured shipline.

Re: Power of a God.
"Captain!" he shouted, in horror. It happened so quick and suddenly. He had only just turned around to see the captain go flying off the deck. He started to panic. Fingers fumbling at the life line.

Re: Power of a God.
the water was freezing cold, but he wasn't in the current for long a cannon fell off deck, Barnabus didn't do his job right. He pulled himself on top of it and leapt onto the rungs built into the side of the ship, He wouldn't last long there

Re: Power of a God.
He finally loosened the lifeline and quickly threw of his coat and boots.
"Doc!" he yelled from across the deck "I need you help! The Captain fell over board! I need you help! To pull us back up!" He didn't wait for a reply, he grabbed the end of his line hoping it would at least be somewhat long enough to get him close to the water, and jumped in.

Re: Power of a God.
The next wave took him under....
--------
???: Roberts...do you know how many people you've murdered?]
Roberts: 3,645,704 to be exact...
???: And what do you seek?
--------
The water began filling his lungs...he couldn';t fight any longer...So this is how the dread pirate captain dies? How apropriate. he thought.

Re: Power of a God.
"Captain!" he yelled over the noise of the storm. He reached down grabbing the captains shoulder and haling him out of the water. He held on to him. Floating in the water and contstatnly struggling with his grip on the life line.

Re: Power of a God.
"I seem to be called directly. Keep him from moving too much." He put his glasses back in their case as he sprinted up to the deck. He just barely heard Barnabus's shout over the roar of the storm. He rushed from one side of the ship to the other, almost going over himself, but catching hold of the railing just in time. "Men in the water!" He grabbed Barnabus's line and had four of the men start pulling them up. There was no way he would be able to hoist men out of the water in this weather by himself, and it also needed to be done quickly and he needed to take care of something else. He rushed to the wheel fastening himself to the nearby railing as quick as he could and then took the wheel. He needed to make sure they didn't take Barnabus and the Captain under. It fought him for every inch, but he managed to keep the ship from turning into the two overboard men.

Re: Power of a God.
once he was aboard the ship he looked at doc, his eyes gave a clear message, i have to go back in there. "Our cooordinates need to be etched in the wood! everyone still alive go below decks! i can handle The Balmung until the storm clears! this is an oder not a request!"

Re: Power of a God.
"Hold on Roberts" he whispered. It was hard for him to see see with the water constantly hitting him in the face, but he kept his grip on the captain.
Barnabas don't ever let go of something you care about...
The thought had randomly just struck him. It was something a friend had once told him and he knew this applied here. He couldn't let anything happen to the captain. He was the closest friend he has.
He breathed deeply and sighed with relief the the captain was okay.

Re: Power of a God.
"You heard the Captain. Below deck, now! Those of you with injuries wait outside my room." Doc put a hand on Barnabus and Roberts, he leaned in to relatively whisper to Roberts. "Captain, as your doctor I cannot condone this." He untied himself and used the rope to tie Roberts. "But I know I cannot dissuade you, so just make sure you're tied on." "Barnabus. Let's go, I need to make sure you received no severe injuries." He released his grip on Roberts but tightened his grip on Barnabus.
