Kale raised an eyebrow, it wasn't his first time dealing with someone looking for an easy buck. In fact he often went to those who are often overlooked for information, but this man was a little too eager for Kale's liking. "A price? I see. A man who calls himself "Patches" is offering to sell me information on my 'friend'. There is no proof that you can, in fact, provide the information you promise. Given the aforementioned friend was here not ten seconds ago and you are still here, it does not bode well that you have any idea where they might be except perhaps for 'Oh, they went 'round that corner.' Furthermore, it's not uncommon for scams like this to end with an ambush. I'll try my luck searching by myself, thank you very much." Despite the fact that I have no idea where anything is around here. Kale walked past Patches, careful to keep a watch on his own belongings. Refugees were often desperate people who might turn to thievery. He was fairly sure he would notice anyone making an attempt on his things, but best to be doubly sure. Besides, the only things he had on him were herbs and weapons, not things people often put a great deal of value on, of course, this was the Nexus. For all he knew the currency of the realm was his soul.

Let's see, I was looking around there, so she couldn't have gone that way, lest she became invisible. She was blushing so she probably ran to hide herself or she wasn't expecting to come back. She'd probably go somewhere familiar, wherever that may be. He glanced down at his hand, more specifically where the ring Alexis had given him was beneath his glove. I wonder if there's a way to use that to track her down. She said it symbolized our bond. It may be more than a mere symbol.

"Excuse me sir might this be yours?" Kale turned around and saw a male thief handing him his pouch, "and no I didnt take it that fellow over there took it" he looked rather aged and had the left side of his head covered by his long hair, but somehow he seemed honest, kale took his pouch and said thanks, "I'm graverobber Blige" he said as he looked at the group, "the name speaks for itself, I stopped stealing from the living after a job gone wrong" with that he showed them the left side of his face, it was burnt and had an eyepatch covering his left eye, "as for you friend she went to the upper floors of the nexus, but be warned of the two groups up there, one group swears their allegiance to saint urbain one of the last remaining servants of god in boletaria, while the other group is loyal to sage freke, I suggest you try to steer clear from them unless you want to be lynched." he left them and proceeded up the nexus' set of stairs.

After making certain everything was still there he slipped a medicinal plant in the man's pocket. He might find it later, he might not. Either way, Kale had a destination now. He pulled up his hood and took to the uncongested high roads aka the rooftops.

As they proceeded up the stairs they discovered that the two groups have been arguing over their beliefs, they paid no attention to the travelers as they went up the stairs, but suddenly one of the two groups eyed them suspiciously "excuse me newcomers but do you have faith in God?" asked an armored cleric, this should be interesting.....

Kale stopped and raised an eyebrow at the man. "Where I place my faith is my business. Now, you'll have to excuse me, I have somewhere to be." Kale hurried away before they could corner him. I have enough preachers harassing him at home. I don't need them here. He avoided large groups as much as possible staying to the outside of the paths and pulled his hood forward a bit more and kept a brisk pace. Maybe if I project that I don't want to be bothered loudly enough they'll leave me alone.

"If he's not with us then he must be with the sage!" yelled one of the people "Seize him!" yelled another, next thing they knew they were being chased to the upper floors....

They're chasing me. Cute. I've evaded capture while carrying a picture nearly twice my size, what chance do they think they have. He ran up another flight of stairs, tying his rope to an arrow, and then leaped out a window. He twisted in the air and fired, the arrow embedded itself in the side of the building and he ran along the side of the structure, grabbing hold of a windowsill just as the arrow broke. He climbed into the window and refastened his rope around his waist before he turned to see more of the zealots waiting for him. "You're worse than the guards. They can at least be bribed." Nowhere else to go he simply shrugged and dove off the side of the building. He spat out the hay that had gotten in his mouth as he climbed out of the cart that had broken his fall. "You know what. I think this is a sign. Alexis doesn't want to be bothered right now. I'm sure she'll come find me when she does." In the meantime, let's go scout the market. Folding his hands together in front of him he blended into the crowd.

Namine came around behind the Zealots as Kale escaped. "What's going on?"

A man turned to her and started. "Lady Namine!" The man and most of the others bowed respectfully before she waved off the formalities. "We were just chasing a suspicious man we believed to be sided with Sage Freke and his followers, but he managed to escape us."

"I see... Please, be careful as the Sage is back in the Nexus now," Namine said them with surprising gentleness. "I will not order you to do so, I think you should pull back your aggressions a bit and wait. The Soul Arts are formidable and can strike at any time. You cannot allow yourselves to be lead around."

The Man nodded. "Yes, I see. Thank you, Lady Namine. Your advice is enlightening as always." He looked at the others. "We're heading back." As the others walked past, he bowed again. "May God gaze favorably upon you, Lady Namine."

"And May God guide you always along your path, Umbasa," Namine replied as the man gave his own 'Umbasa' and walked away. She watched him, a thoughtful look on her face as she looked over the Nexus, a place she hadn't been in a while, before walking off. She wondered what the Sage would say to her if she told him she stood with Saint Urbain as well as himself, and chuckled, already knowing what he'd say. And with that, she walked off. She had some extra souls and she'd just seen where the Maiden in Black was sitting against a wall.

Alexis was in the marketplace when she saw kale and rushed to him, "sorry about what happened earlier, I wanted to test if I could really feel again, but quick this way before more zealots arrive" with that they went through some corridors and makeshift barricades until they reached what appeared to be a large chamber, in the chamber were men women and children sage freke was also discussing something with what appeared to be his disciples, "ah there you are I was worried that you could have been lynched but this fellow told me and I sent alexis to look for you" the fellow he was reffering to was none other than grave robber blige, "sorry I couldn't tell you I was with the sage, if they heard us then we would have been dead by now" he said, the sage then spoke "now now let us settle down for I have discovered something very important so I hope you will all listen closely" with that he lit his pipe and sat down.

"Y'know, you could have said something, before or after, instead of just disappearing. People don't like it when you do that. I know, I've had it happen to me once before. Admittedly, the kiss was also laced with a powerful sleep inducing drug and she stole something valuable from me. While you didn't drug me, you are still going to have to pay me back later." He gave her a mischevious smile as they arrived at the chamber.

"Uh huh." Kale's irritation at the whole situation was not mollified by the sage's apparent concern. And then Kale turned on Blithe, "So you sent me to their den to throw them off? I'm sure that was the Sage's plan." He patted Blithe on the shoulder and went to lean against a wall in a dark corner close enough to listen but away from the people proper. He mirrored the sage and lit up his own pipe. He smoked only rarely to begin with, usually in celebration of a particularly crazy job, and since he had had no idea when he would be able to get more smokable plants he had been saving what he had. If Alexis came over to bother him he would of course offer to share it with her.

"while I was being held in the tower of latria I delved deeper into the soul arts and traced it, I then learned that this whole nightmare was caused by a very powerful demon known as the old one, before I could trace its location I was blocked so therefore unable to know more, but another intriguing thing I learned was that the old one and the so called god saint urbain preaches about are the same being!" with that he looked at kale and said "this might come useful, just promise to look after alexis and that would be payment enough." he then handed kale an odd looking dagger "its no ordinary dagger, it was forged along with a beast talisman so it can also cast spells and miracles, my friend over there made it with the knowledge I acquired, for you see it is very possible to combine magic and weapons, clever dont you think?" he asked with a grin.

Kale checked the weight, it was a little heavier than what he was used to, but he could make it work. "I agree. It would be extremely useful, but I have no knowledge of spellcasting. Unless someone intends to teach me in days what they've learned through years of work, or will the blade itself be the source of the spells? Alexis has enchanted my weapons before, but I doubt that's what you had in mind. Can it hurt a phantom?" He examined the edge of the blade dubiously. Kale was fairly certain the answer to at least one of his questions would be yes.

"My boy to use soul arts you simply have to say, FIRE" with that fire came spraying from the sage's catalyst, "just say the word and it shall be done, but be warned too much use of the soul arts can strain ones mind so I would suggest using spices to calm the mind", with that he proceeded to show them the archstones, "these archstones are the only way out of the nexus, and I suggest going here" he pointed to a certain archstone "it leads to stonefang tunnel, in there you can find a demon called the dragon god, kill it and bring me its soul so I could study it, while you're there I'll stay here and try to repair the archstones, if you need to come back use this" he presented them with a bracelet "its a nexial binding, think of it as a teleporter, it can also be used to drain black phantoms to a more natural state and weaken them."

"Useful." Kale palmed the dagger, it would rematerialize when he needed it. He took the bracelet with a nod of appreciation and slid it onto his left wrist. "Very useful." He didn't think magic items would react badly to one another, but he didn't want to risk it. "Oh, just a demon called the dragon god. Why isn't anything in this country ever easy." He commented and took a long puff from his pipe. "So, are we leaving now, Love?" He asked, turning towards Alexis.

"sure" said alexis and then she turned to the sage "why dont you ever give me anything?!" she said hotly, "now now dear, I havent completely forgotten about you so here you go" with that he handed her a grindstone, she didnt looked pleased at all, "whats this piece of garbage for?!" "now now you might find it useful..." "you just like to mess with me dont you?!" "we should go alexis" said roy, as they touched the archstone they soon found themselves in what appeared to be a mine, alexis looked around and exclaimed "well here we are, stonefang mines also known as the dragon burial grounds, I read that the dragon bones and precious stones here can fetch quite a price though".

Kale smirked, "They can indeed. Sadly, we're not here for that." He continued smoking his pipe, keeping to the rear of the group so that it didn't get in their eyes or make them cough. He had lit it up already and he was going to smoke it, at least until they got into a fight.

as they started looking around they discovered what appeared to be a large room, "that's odd why is there a room here in the tunnels?" they had the feeling that they were being watched....

Kale shrugged. "Not that odd. We're looking for someone called the Dragon God. With a name like that you would expect worshippers no? Plus this is a graveyard, a place for mourners to gather or last rights to be given would not be so strange. and then there's always the possibility that someone's about to appear before us and say something like," Kale coughed once and lowered his voice. "I've been expecting you." He took a look around the room before simply waiting and watching the smoke from his pipe.

"LOOK OUT!" yelled alexis as something large landed from the ceiling. it looked like angry and roared, "its the flamelurker...." muttered roy as they all drew their weapons.....
