Demon's Souls.
I recently bought Demon's Souls and I'm kinda impressed with it but WHY IS IT SO HARD?! I GOT KILLED JUST IN THE TUTORIAL! Anyway I'm trying to acquire some decent weapons for my knight but even enemy corpses dont give me enough items, so does anyone here know how to defeat the knight with red eyes?
Re: Demon's Souls.
I'm not really sure who the "knight with red eyes" is specifically, but if you're still on the first level and are talking about those knights then you'll want to switch from your single-handed to double-handed weapons to defeat it.
And yes, Demon's Souls is notoriously difficult (by design). It's merciless and totally unforgiving, and that's why we love it. It is not for the faint or heart or those without masochistic tendencies. It's ideal for for people who tried to actually complete Battletoads, though.

Re: Demon's Souls.
It's pretty difficult but once you get the hang of it it's not so bad. Best to describe it as hard but fair, you'll learn to be cautious and you'll know what's coming at you and if you figure out the mechanics of world tendency (IE if you want to avoid black you should kill yourself before going in a level to avoid making it harder unless you're looking for drops or certain enemies).
It's all around a great game, but really isn't so balls bustingly hard so long as you play enough. Now on your red eyed knight either do what S1lentOp advised and use double handed weapons. Or if you're using a Royalty or Magician lock on use your Soul Arrow or Flame Toss moving back while doing so (not so much so as to lose the lock on). Otherwise wait until later because really other than 2000 souls there's nothing there for you until close to the end or Kill Ostravia early on and hopefully get a key off him. Even then there will be a boss inside that's tough at due to you just starting out. Lastly don't bother killing him (you get a sword from doing enough damage) if you chose to play a female character as he drops his armor but women can't wear it.
Really just wait until later to deal with this unless you want to grind souls early on but it's not worth it here.
For more details on the game I suggest checking here (note there are spoilers): http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/
One last thing: It is possible to win in the tutorial (I'm assuming and hoping the boss killed you and not some mook), the reward isn't amazing though but what happens afterward is.

Re: Demon's Souls.
Biggest reason was that assuming you survived long enough you could recognize it's attack pattern.
You will be fighting the tutorial boss again later on. Though you can read up on a glitch to kill it without it even noticing you.

Re: Demon's Souls.
Here's what you do. Clear the way to the stairs. Now lure the Red Knight back there and run down the stairs a bit. Lure it where it runs off the edge and dies. Easy 2000 souls.
I would melee the red knight. First block it's attack, then counter. Repeat. Don't let it shield bash you.
If you have a range weapon like a bow or spell, just shoot it and run away. Rinse and repeat. Unless you have the key, you can skip the red knight guarding the mausoleum.
Is this a winged spear? You need 13 str and 12 dex to wear it properly.
Btw what is your sl? I just started playing again since it's PWWT event and doing it for the items and try to keep my sl as low as possible.

26 and yes its a winged spear, I also found a neat set of brushwood armor in the area with the crazy lady with the giant axe and singsong voice, however I also defeated the vanguard by casting fire toss at it, and where can I find items that have magic resistance because I want to clear the tower of latria soon.

Re: Demon's Souls.
Ring of Magical Dullness increases Magic Defense by 20% and decreases Magic Power by 40%, but it's in 5-1. Dark Silver Shield increases Magic defense by 10% and decreases Magic damage by 24% found off a boss in 5-3. Rune sword and Rune shield increases magic defense and it's on a ledge after ascending the first set of stairs in 3-2. You have to drop off to the lower ledge to get it. It's dangerously close to the edge when you fall off too or you can get it from Ostrava.
The thing about 3-1 is you gotta dodge the mind flayers attacks. The funny thing is the path they walk on is really NARROW. Equip the thief's ring so you can get closer and then try to backstab them.
I'm currently SL 31 so if you need help, just add me. PSN is Zerokoolpsx. Once I get the BlueBlood Sword, I'm going to raise my stats to equip it.

Uh suicide? If thats the case then how would you revive yourself?! stones are hard to come by and I'm kinda planning on going to stonefang tunnel to kill the dragon god, until I ran into a black phantom and ran all the way back to the arch stone like a chicken, Where the hell did it come from?

Those two Black Phantoms are NPCs. They are always there until killed and will drop the Black Eye Stone or if you kill your first invader. Whichever happens first.Kaori wrote:Uh suicide? Protip: Walls appear right before being invaded and they usually block the archstone and block you from proceeding further on. Evacuate, nexial binding, archstones don't work.
I would kill a boss to resurrect myself or if I co-op with someone and the host has the resurrection spell, but no one ever uses it. Too bad you can't use resurrection on yourself huh?

Re: Demon's Souls.
Well I bought his game like a week ago and it pissed me off to extents that I have only dreamt of, but I just keep going back for more. The only problem I really have with this game is that I can't store my souls. Royalty class ftw!

Re: Demon's Souls.
here's a tip: buy items so you can store them instead, and also certain souls like storied soldiers souls, soldiers souls etc can be absorbed anytime to save you the trouble of having to find souls, you can also absorb demon's souls but I'd recommend you to save those instead, with those souls you can turn them into spells or weapons or you could just absorb it to get more souls, its all up to you.

also try NOT to go to the shrine of storms unless your really strong or have friends, the place is notorious for PK'ing and dont trust other people summoning you unless your friends because 1 tactic is that players who summon you allow friendly back phantoms to drain your soul level so far zero and I trust each other so I can count on him not to do anything like that, and if you need special souls try the 2nd area of the tower of latria because the gargoyles there have unknown soldiers souls.

Re: Demon's Souls.
Funny that you mention that. Last night, I was summoned by this host and his friendly Black Phantom kills me from behind. I quit out before it saves my death and I send a message to the host. Douchebag and your friend too. I blocked him.Kaori wrote:also try NOT to go to the shrine of storms unless your really strong or have friends, the place is notorious for PK'ing and dont trust other people summoning you unless your friends because 1 tactic is that players who summon you allow friendly back phantoms to drain your soul level so far zero and I trust each other so I can count on him not to do anything like that, and if you need special souls try the 2nd area of the tower of latria because the gargoyles there have unknown soldiers souls.

good job, I hate it when players do that, I respect black phantoms honestly invading or dueling me but I cant stand players like that.

Re: Demon's Souls.
Duping with stockpile Thomas. It's so easy. Doesn't work on weapons or armor, but it works on consumables including souls, bosses souls, colorless demon's souls, stones, grass, arrows, bolts, ephemeral eyes and you can do it all by yourself. A friend of mind told me about this last week. Tried it and it works.
