Is Sonic The Hedgehog making a comeback with great games?

Is our blue hedgehog hero making a return with decent games? It seems like it because Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 despite being short was a success. It had that classic feeling, and from what I read Sonic Colors is a success. they're doing something right. Thank gosh.

Years back most of the Sonic games on console sucked. Sonic Heroes is a great game. Sonic Riders is ok. Shadow The Hedgehog sucked. Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) wasn't that good. Sonic Unleashed is good minus the werewolf parts of the game. Sonic and The Black Knight = wtf

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 and Sonic: Colors both got mixed reviews. I wouldn't call it a comeback but it's at least an improvement from the garbage Sega has been producing for the past several years. I probably won't buy Sonic: Colors and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will have to wait until a package release.

No, seriously. I loved Sonic Rush/Rush Adventure and Chronicles. 3 good games.


Sonic 4 and Colors are just two more good games out of a bowl of garbage. But they are console games, they are what the fans want, and they are huge steps in the right direction. If they keep this up then maybe they can regain their former glory. And honestly Sonic 4 wasn't that good, I'm surprised it didn't get smashed in reviews. I was happy with it, but as a fan.

For me the low point was when Sonic became Harry Potter:



I think it's important to understand that "Sega lately" isn't Sega but in fact Sammy, which bought Sega and renamed itself Sega. Their primary industry is gambling machines. That means their entire business model is based on ripping you off. To me cutting Sonic into "episodes" is a clear symptom of this...

Well, I believe everything after Sonic Heroes was mediocre. I enjoyed the Sonic Riders series, as well as the new Sonic 4, but the majority of the games aside from these were just bad.

Sonic Chronicles was GOOD? Pfft, news to me, I must have been playing a different game that felt like a largely unfinished mess.

I loved Sonic Chronicles. Favorite Sonic game since... Adventures and GBA Battle.

I admit the aggro sound effects where annoying, the graphics could have been better, and the items/gear parts where a bit shallow. But it was fun. I enjoyed the story, the dialogue choices, battle system, move (way you unlock them, and how they can consist of multiply characters) system, out of battle gameplay, and just the game in general.



Sonic 4 is hideous, short and music is from bad to good.

I saw news about this game awhile ago a completely forgot about it.

I'll have to go check it out since it looked like the original Sonic.
Everything of Sonic after the first original games were horrible so I'm not getting my hopes up.

On Sonic 4: This is a sequel... really? Could have fooled me I just thought you DIRECTLY took levels from Sonic 1 and 2 and renamed them, slapped shitty music on them, then give me Sonic using Rush's strange physics.

Now I'll be fair, the levels ARE different, it's really the background and foreground I'm bitching on, really, you couldn't just make new levels or ones that looked different enough so as not to insult our intelligence provided we played the old games? But hey people still swallow it without complaint just as I still **** on it.

Oh what's that, you added a minecart and torch in the Labrynth Zone asspull? WHOOPDIE ****!

It's one thing to appeal to nostalgia, take a level or two, Green Hill/Emerald Hill is certainly up for grabs. I can let the Casino Zone go since it appeared similar as Carnival Zone in Sonic 3. But there is not one new level. Every single boss fight are the exact same ones from Sonic 1 and 2 with a twist. OH BUT WHAT IS THIS YOU TELL ME, WHEN THEY ARE DOWN TO HALF HEALTH THEY DO SOMETHING NEW?! ... SO?! How about this... give me new Eggmachines to fight.

The special stages were ass, they just took Sonic 1's way of spinning about only making YOU the player spin the backdrop which took the magic away to me. Getting Super Sonic let alone beating the Final Boss with out being hit is such a let down. And your reward?

They may as well have just called this a remake of some sort rather than insult us by placing the number "4" at the end. Episode 2 may change all these complaints but I highly doubt this.

Hopefully the future console Sonic games could be a success. We want speed, and no other gimmicks like guns, werewolves, swords etc.

Like I said before it wasn't really a good game, but is perceived as one and is trying to be what fans want. Again I was happy with a "new" old Sonic, but I'm surprised every review wasn't an echo of what Gem just said.
