Yeah, Atoli, and I think I remember seeing Negimaru, but that might have been just his character model. Like the guy in the white that looks a little like Silabus. Emi is a stretch for R1 returning character. I mean its obviously modeled after her, but unless she is a real character and not just a game guide fairy I don't think she should count anymore than all the R2 background models. Really though, with so many randoms looking like R2 or possibly RX. Its pretty much the central party is R1 and everything else is R2 with some RX bacon bits scattered over the top. Not that I mind. I prefer it that way over Haseo, Atoli, Ovan and Death Grunty being the main characters with Ryoko, Sanjuro and Renas running around.

She's a mainstream character. She was in Link as a Twilight Knight. Syake and any other minor PC I can think of weren't. And it's her character design exactly. With one more character than I thought, the R:2 percentage is still just under 60%, which is hardly a landslide. They aren't even filibuster-proof. Geist and Klarinette are "bacon bits" because the total number of (canon) R:X PCs was in the single digits. The ratios in Quantum reflect the cast sizes of the various series. G.U. just had a huge cast...

There's probably something to the main party being the .hackers, and the opposing guild being mainly R:2 characters, but I don't think we've seen enough to make sweeping statements since the entire premise of this show seems to be returning characters and so far we've only seen 17 examples and from just the first episode.

Thats one of my only points, and I'm only making sweeping statements since thats all there is to do at this point. And 17 is a lot of examples..

And I know its her model, but it another possible NPC. I just think when deciding which era is getting to influence this era the most you need to look at more than just the number ratio. Which is another reason why I mentioned the IMOQ characters are part of the central party and how I'd prefer it that way over the opposite way.

Quantum+ thoughts: Well, it's just a pilot so it doesn't say much, but it says, "that black branch tells a story" at the beginning. "A game is everyday," "everyday is a game", "the story starts from Tsugaru". Hahaha she caught a boot, it reminds me of the Udeden anime. I like how it shows Emi and Asumi as kids. Also, King Clock!

About comic: Hermit is on guard for Sakuya to sneak up behind her and say some weird joke, but instead she insults the creators and "the world" isn't a very exciting name and gets deleted.

Going to watch the video now, so far I'm really enthusiastic about the characters and humor...

The new Kuhn is Bullman. Asta and Iyoten's names are written the same as always, except now Asta's is the only one in Japanese and Iyoten's name is the normal one. As far as I can tell the IDs don't represent any obvious information (like those two being a pair or resurrected character models or whatever)

Now after my forced reply that i had already warned of posting months ago, and before people get me for it, i have to say...

I really enjoyed this sneak peek video thingy, it looks very great and interesting so far!!! :D Sakuya is lulzy and silly, Mary is all cautious and responsible (kinda, more than the other two at least), and Tobias is like the warrior who knows his/her stuff. And Shamrock's guild is like all srs bsnz with The One Sin (which looks all awesome and mighty BTW), until Sakuya comes and screws them up, something that kinda reminded me to "Leeroy Jenkins". In general i like the characters so far o3o And yeah i've gotten over the fact they're re-using character models a while ago...i'm still honestly hoping for some epic explanation about that though, not a "just because" and with nobody bringing up the topic ever again.

I'm hoping to see more sometime soon, even though that "soon" might not come until next year at least 'XD But anyways, whether or not this is going to really be the very last of .Hack, i'm very content with it so far.

They're also making the movie!

But honestly the best thing about this is it kinda feels like a movie. The animation is amazingly fluid and all over the place: squishing Chim Chims, jumping unnecessarily around obstacles... It's like for the first time .hack is totally unrestrained, I dunno, it's hard to explain why I feel that way... Kou Ootani's music definitely helps though...

That might be why this is seeing at least a few theaters for sure, while as far as we know the CG movie might or might not...

Also, watching this it feels kinda painful that we're never going to get a "real" R:X game. I didn't see 99% of this stuff in the PSP game. There are an awful lot of game mechanics shown too, it's like they're trying to rub it in. I bet -4th Era- is going to hurt even worse, given that that one will look like a CC2 game...
