I had the choice between Fallout: New Vegas and Vanquish, and I opted for Vanquish. I'm not going to buy New Vegas until they get some serious patching done on it.

Hmm... I had the same choice as well but my reasons for not getting vanquish were:
1. The price, Fallout new vegas cost 100 pesos lower than vanquish and vanquish was like 2000 pesos.
2. Replay value, I could keep playing new vegas and not get bored easily, and I think vanquish isn't open world so that kinda bites the dust for me.
3.new vegas may be smaller than fallout 3 but its advantages are: more weapons, more items and crafting, and more factions(and for those who are wondering, yes the enclave is also present).
4.improved gameplay makes new vegas better than fallout 3.
5. and the most convincing reason I bought its was because the store I went to had only limited stock of the game while they had a surplus of vanquish games, plus the fact that not that many gamers were buying vanquish.
To anyone who wants a tribal pack please pm me, my game came with a tribal pack but I dont exactly intend to use it, just pm me for the password.(its for PS3)

Generally the price difference depends on whether you buy it for a console or the PC. In the US the price difference is about $10, which isn't enough of a discount to make me want to buy a broken game. Console releases should all be the same price, though.
2. Replay value, I could keep playing new vegas and not get bored easily, and I think vanquish isn't open world so that kinda bites the dust for me.
This may be true in the future once they fix it. Doubly so once the mod community starts making their releases, assuming you bought it for the PC. Since one is an open word role-playing game and the other is a past-paced first person shooter, the gameplay comparison is rather useless and boils down to a matter of preference.
3.new vegas may be smaller than fallout 3 but its advantages are: more weapons, more items and crafting, and more factions(and for those who are wondering, yes the enclave is also present).
This is more of a reason to buy New Vegas over Fallout 3 than Vanquish.

This is also more of a reason to buy it over Fallout 3 than Vanquish.

Fallout is a very well established franchise that has been around for years, and Fallout: New Vegas is the latest installment following the critically acclaimed Fallout 3. Vanquish is a brand new IP. Both of these games were released on the same day and both are multiplatform titles. There's no mystery as to why New Vegas is selling faster than Vanquish and the reason has nothing to do with one game being better than the other. So I don't see how this point is much of a reason at all to buy one game over another.

Okay point made, sorry then.
Okay now I'm gonna post answers to a lot of players questions I came across the net:

Q:Is power armor available in the game?

A:Yes but it is very hard to come by and even if you miraculously found some you still need power armor training, you can obtain power armor training from the brotherhood of steel who are hiding out in the bunker at hidden valley, or you can do the "For Auld Lang Syne" mission which involves reuniting the remnants of the enclave.

Q:who are the available companions?

A:The ones I know so far are Veronica a brotherhood scribe who specializes in CQC, Craig Boone a sniper who has a grudge against caeser's legion, Raul Tejada a 230 year old mexican ghoul and a master gunsligner, then there's ED-E a friendly enclave eyebot.

Q:How many factions are there?

A:There are many factions but the 3 dominant factions are the NCR, Caesers legion, and Mr. House, the brotherhood of steel is there but their presence is somewhat minuscule, and the enclave has the smallest number of all: less than 10.

Q:Is the karma system back?

A:Sort of, the game is based on reputation instead of karma, for example you do something that benefits one group but harms another group in the process, the group you helped will like you better while the other group might try to kill you, and as for karma it still applies, for example if you ever commit any form of crime it will net you bad karma, however karma and reputation are totally different, sometimes if you do something like kill a legionnaire it will give you good karma but you will gain infamy among caesers legion.

Q:Any cool new weapons?

A:LOT'S I dont know where to begin but I'll just mention my personal favorite's, the grenade machine gun which is pretty much self explanatory along with the recharger rifle, however there are rumors of a legitimate 1 shot 1 kill weapon they say it needs 24 hours to recharge so I'm guessing its an energy weapon.

Q:Which faction is better to side with?

A:Okay now THAT'S the real question, most people would think that the NCR are the good guy's and that Caesers legion are the bad guys, if you sided with the NCR then your advantages include guns and armor however the people of new vegas might view you as an asshole(due to their somewhat oppressive nature) , but if you side with the legion then you'll have strength in numbers and more caps but the citizens of new vegas will hate you so much that theyll try to kill you on sight.
